A lady I worked with had problems getting the implant taken out also. She put on loads of weight with it and they wouldn't just take it out. In the end she said if they didn't then she would cut it out herself with a knife and then go to A and E. So they took it out for her!

totally not normal. It came out though so explains the pain I was in!
I had a copper coil put in three days ago. It’s a great option for me because it’s non-hormonal. It was relatively pain-free when being put in. It just felt like a little pinch for a second. I had cramping for one day, then the cramping stopped
. I’ve been bleeding every day and it’s as heavy as my normal period. Apparently you can bleed for weeks, if not months, until it settles down. I’m prepared to wait for it to settle. It lasts up to ten years, which is amazing.
Any obvious side effects with the mirena? Mood swings, acne there the ones I’m most worried about? Thanks
I’d love him to have the snip as our family is definitely complete but he point blank refuses unfortunately
I’ve had three mirenas and one copper coil over the last 12 years. I’ve never had any pain, for me the only painful bit is the clamp on your uterus to open it. But it’s like a sharp pinch and only last a minute of that. I had my most recent mirena only a few weeks ago, no cramps or anything until my period was due.Hi ladies,
What was everyone's experience with getting the coil fitted?
I had the Mirena coil fitted two years ago and while it wasn't agony, it was a very painful procedure. I remember thinking that it was the worst pain I'd ever experienced. I would describe it as having someone penetrating you with some kind of sharp object and trying to pierce through your uterus (I guess it's not that far off from the truth). It probably didn't help that the coil didn't open properly at first, and that the GP had to go find another one in her drawers while I laid there with my legs wide open
I remember reading about other girls' experiences with the coil before my appointment and in the vast majority of articles I read and videos I watched, it was described as something very painful.
Anyways, now that Naga Manchetti has spoken about her experience, I read on the BBC that X and Y health boards and organisations say that it's not meant to be painful? There's even a physician who said that most women would say that the pain is a 2 or a 3?I'm really just interested in hearing about your experience with it because I feel like I've been lied to
Yeah the strings were visibly hanging out my vaginaYou are meant to be able to feel the strings, they do hang down through the cervix but you should only be able to feel them a bit if you go right up(TMI!!!)
I think if it was properly coming loose or away from where it should be you would be in pain with it but defo worth getting it checked
it ended up coming out, whilst speaking to the nurse on the phone she asked me to gently pull it to see if I felt it move and when I did its came completely out!

Yes absolutely. It’s really interesting to hear everybody’s stories tho as it’s helpful. But I’ll have to go with what I think will be best. I’m glad it’s not just me that thinks it’s a bit off side that men seem to deny all responsibility for contraception. But I guess that’s a whole separate threadWhat seems clear is that what works for one woman doesn’t necessarily work for another
Side effects...I think my moods were actually improved as I didn’t get much pms. My skin was great but to be fair I’ve never had trouble with spots. I still used to get painful boobs around the time of the month.
We are all so different - I tried the mini pill but I just basically bled continually (small amounts!) for three months. I was also very weepy and depressed but that might have been coincidence. I happened to watching morning TV and the doctor on it mentioned the Mirena as a new contraception. I was down at the doctors the same week and it was so new my GP wasn’t familiar with it. Got it fitted and never looked back. It’s about the same level of hormones as 1 mini pill a week I think.
Thats terrible didnt you feel like leaving him? I'd have either kicked him out or refused to sleep with him again. Hes just actively lied/mislead you.
