Why do the callers request the same songs on Friday on r2?

This is exaclty what winds me up! At some point during the kier starmer/andy burnham fuckery recently they said something like "Kier Starmer, the person who is currently in charge of the UK as Prime Minister..."
Because you don't always get what you actually want. I got through years ago on Dave Pierce #oldskool and they told me to ask for Feel It by Tamperer rather than Renegade Master by Fatboy Slim. Livid!
Which is presumably why Radio 1 now actively control listener requests with the same feature on every show dressed up as listener choice - Bangers on Matt & Mollie, the drive thru with Sam and Dani, Melvin, Rickie or Charlie etc etc
Yeah the only show that allows a free choice is Greg with the winner of the quiz and the 9 o’clock feature that I’m too hungover to remember the name of.

I always think it’s very easy for them to just pick whatever they want for the ten minute takeover as well, no one knows what order those texts are coming in. I don’t doubt they are real texts and people but they might skip some requests
I was going to put (supposedly) in that bit for the same reason haha
Whoever is hosting You and Yours is annoying me - just let people speak!!! No one wants to hear you interrupting every five seconds to react or cut people off
Jeremy Vine does this, constant interruptions, always manages to bring the topic back to himself, plus stupid trailers for other BBC shows which ruin the flow of discussions.
Changes at 5 live from January meaning Rick Edwards is without a gig. Might he get teatime on 2?
Oooh I'd actually love him to come over! And it means OJ can stay in the night time slot which I've started listening to (from the night before) instead of Jo, it's great and I think he'd be dulled down by the teatime slot, I actually think he probably turned it down for that reason
Just tried 5 mins of Sara. She sounds like she needs a calmative. She sounds so manic. Hateful!
I've been avoiding Sara's show based on other people's comments, but gave her a listen this morning out of curiosity.....

I like Sara but she's too much for a breakfast show. Hopefully she'll tone it down as time goes on and listen to feedback.
Sound like a broken record (LOL sorry that wasn’t meant to be a radio pun!) but I’m so so missing the decent Radio 2 breakfast and drive time shows! I don’t really like any of the cover presenters for the 4pm slot, and like most of you I just can’t take to Sara at breakfast - tried her again this week and as she is now it just isn’t working! How does a presenter/show manage to feel both manic and flat at the same time?! I don’t know but that’s the feeling it leaves me with, maybe because she’s trying too hard and it’s coming across? I hope she can find her feet and settle into a different, more suitable style, but I’m not hopeful 
I’m still listening to Sara just because I can’t find another breakfast show I like, although I spend most of her show with the volume down

I don’t think she’ll be in the role come next year…I used to really enjoy it when Sara stood in for others on the breakfast show. I think she is probably extremely nervous: she's taken over the role from her good friend, who left under a huge cloud, and is aware that most people want him back (or would if he hadn't committed a sackable offence!) and were very happy with her where she was. She is probably manic trying to pretend everything is alright. I know Jezza isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he does wear his heart on his sleeve: I loved his honesty when he cried over Steve Wright's death, and he is the only person who said anything about Scott. I get why nobody else has, but Jezza appreciated that listeners wanted to hear it.
