Be interesting if Rylan distances himself from him after this. Didn't he refer to Scott as his 'TV husband'? 😬

His husband is 16 years his junior so maybe a penchant for a much younger man? He came across poorly on RATW which I was surprised by as used to like him on the radio many moons ago.

I am shocked, I’ve grown up listening to Scott through my teenage years and now as an adult! Will be gutted if he’s another Phil Schofield!

I’m really shocked, I had a weird feeling something was going on when he wasn’t on at the end of last week but I never thought it would be this!

obviously we don’t know what happened but it was so obvious this was his absolute dream job so he will be devastated

BBC now leading with the "historic male relationship allegations" line, bizarrely as quoted from The Mirror.
On R2 news earlier they were talking about this being an example of the 'new culture' at the BBC. I can't help but wonder if he's been made an example of due to all of the controversies, but then again you'd have thought they'd have made sure they were covered legally before sacking him... But then again I'm probably being biased as I like him.

Isn’t it funny that you can feel u know a perfect stranger? I feel kinda let down. Saville, Huw Edwards et all, they weren’t people I ever warmed to. But I Thought Scott was genuine kind of guy and I liked listening to him. I hope he’s ok, but have a feeling that this is something really serious for them to turf him out so publicly after 27 years. Historic relationship with a male… very vague.

God, I miss Steve Wright.

I still miss Terry Wogan 🥺
I was genuinely so upset when he died.
His breakfast show helped me when I was going through a very bad time.
The one on one nature of radio can make it very important and personal to listeners.
I wasn't a huge Steve Wright fan but 100% understand how people loved, and trusted, him.

Isnt it that thing where if you bring your employer into disrepute you can be let go?

If someone has complained I wouldn’t be surprised if was the possibility of this getting into the media and given that the BBCs reputation on these sorts of issues is questionable at best… well, hardly a surprise

I wonder if he's admitted to whatever it was and that's why they can let him go without needing to investigate.

No idea what Mills has done, but he was never really my cup of tea, with zero charisma on-air & always found him a fairly boring presenter for radio & tv to be honest.

Agree with the BIB. I've been a huge radio fan since I was a teenager and I still listen to it a lot these days (lots of speech radio as well as music). Terry Wogan was excellent at what he did - made it appear effortless, even when it probably wasn't. When he was asked how many listeners he had, he answered "Only one." An excellent response highlighting the intimate relationship you can have with radio.

I am not a morning person for a few reasons work, health etc so never heard Scott but I do enjoy Sara and regularly listen to her at drive-time so I want her to stay in this slot, reading here I get many don't gel with her.
I still miss listening to Graham and Claudia on a Saturday while at work but now listen to the previous Sundays POTPs and other shows then go to Emma who I need to get used to.

Yes I hope Sara stays in her slot, I really enjoy her in that 4-7pm window. Especially on a Friday afternoon

Graham Norton's show was very good, used to enjoy the listeners' problem/dilemma slot with Maria McErlane.

Did anyone listen from 6.30 this morning? My radio alarm just came on and it seems very jolly ‘business as usual’

I used to love that Saturday morning show on R2. It evokes a particular time for me. It was enjoyable when he went to Virgin, but a noticeably different vibe, just wasn't quite the same.
