Did anyone listen from 6.30 this morning? My radio alarm just came on and it seems very jolly ‘business as usual’
I changed to R2 at 7am to hear the headlines and not one mention! Over on Virgin (moved to their breakfast when Chris Evans moved) and it is their news.

I used to love that Saturday morning show on R2. It evokes a particular time for me. It was enjoyable when he went to Virgin, but a noticeably different vibe, just wasn't quite the same.
Malcolm Prince blocked me on Instagram on Graham’s last day at R2 as I said I would be following him to Virgin!!

I know not everyone will find this amusing but for those who will, I saw a comment on a Facebook thread yesterday evening that said;

"Tune in to Radio 2 tomorrow morning for the Not Mills Show" :LOL:

They just covered it on the 7.30 news but I was curious how Gary introduced the show. Might have to listen on sounds.

bbc news have just confirmed he was questioned in 2018 over serious s*xual offences against a teenage boy but investigations were closed.

So are we to assume that the BBC only found out he'd been questioned back in 2018 last week? I guess it makes sense why they were willing to throw the whole schedule up in the air by getting rid of him straight away if so considering everything else. duck sake Scott I was rooting for you!

Will be interesting to hear more details about this

I don’t even care much for him but it does all seem a bit questionable at the moment. Bet everyone else in the BBC with questionable behaviour in the past is shaking in their booties

From the DM: Last night, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: 'In December 2016, the Met began an investigation following a referral from another police force. The investigation related to allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy. These were reported to taken place between 1997 and 2000.
So it may or may not have happened over 26 years ago... I assume there's a 'bringing the organisation into disrepute' clause in their contracts but I can't help feeling like it's throwing the baby out with the bath water a bit seeing as no charges were brought?

It’s quite difficult because these offences are hard to prosecute and more often than not don’t seem to go to court, but I would agree that it’s a bit questionable that someone could then turn up several years/decades later and seek to get you fired and ruin your livelihood

I think it brings up really interesting questions about gender too - I don’t think I would be giving benefit of doubt to the alleged abuser in a heterosexual relationship 🤷‍♀️

100% agree, and I had the same consideration as your last point too...

Yeah, agree.
It was also 1998 that Scott Mills joined the BBC.

just because there’s no conviction doesn’t mean he didn’t do it…those sort of cases are hard to prove and even harder when it’s historical…no smoke with out fire!

"No smoke without fire" is incredibly dangerous imo... to lose his job over something that may have happened 20 years ago when there's been no charges brought against him doesn't seem right surely as we don't (and the BBC therefore don't) know either way whether it did or didn't?
