I presume so re: Gary - he's been interim host of a few shows till someone permanent comes in (e.g. the mid-morning slot after Ken Bruce left, and Pick of the Pops after Steve Wright died).

I thought that bulletin at the start of Jeremy’s show was a joke/announcement of another bloody challenge initially! They’ve been very specific in terms of it being PERSONAL conduct which makes me wonder if it is something sexual harrassment based? They’re screwed with Eurovision round the corner…

I am so shocked 😳 It must be something very serious. I do hope he is ok too though as his job is his life. Stunned.

I’m really really shocked! I always really liked Scott and he’s been on the BBC for so long it seems really sudden.

On reflection, I have felt there’s been a bit of tension between him and Tina Daheely of late…wonder if it’s something there

It must be pretty bad to be let go like that. I wonder what he did / said....
I had a feeling it was something serious as one day he was in and then Garry was sitting in and he just kind of glossed over it.... hmmmmm.
I said to my husband wheres scott?

My first thought was Liza Tarbuck, given the outpouring after she resigned a few weeks ago... but I guess if she quit the Saturday show to get her weekends back, she's probably not one to give up her weekday mornings either.
Isnt Jimmy tarbuck quite unwell? I thought she might have quit to care for him/spend more time with him

Gasped at the news! He's BBC's golden boy. You don't get sacked from the top job after 27 years without it being really serious. Hope it's not another Huw Edwards situation. Really thought Scott was smarter than doing something that would cost him his career.

Never liked or rated Scott Mills, but to be fired for personal conduct suggests bullying or drug use at work...

No doubt he will jump ship to a commercial station....

Yes I spent many happy afternoons listening to him on Radio one 1-4 afternoon slot! Whhhhoooooo?
He's presenting some of the old 1999 Top of the Pops on BBC 4 currently, if they take those episodes off I'll be so annoyed (And you'll know the situation is bad!)

I am genuinely very shocked and sad about the Scott news. Like others have said; I feel like I’ve grown up with him, and I made move from R1 to R2 with him.
What has he done?!

That was my first thought tbh or racism.

Wow! Just read the news and came straight to this thread, I’m really shocked. I hope it’s not anything sexual, as others have said - he wasn’t my favourite DJ however I thought more of him than that, plus it would be another massive nail in the coffin for the BBCs reputation in general! I don’t want to speculate as it’s not fair. I wonder who will be after his slot, Dermot? Fearne? Romesh? I’d personally love Mark Goodier but I don’t think that will happen, he’s not engaging enough and in his twilight years which I understand…the list of “who” could be endless really couldn’t it.
I would feel for Scott if it’s a minor situation which has been blown out of proportion to a cover from a HR/publicity point of view, he does have a naturally cheeky and deadpan sense of humor which can come across the wrong way to some, he really loved that job and said it was his life goal at one point.

Edit: it’s now been reported in the Daily Mail that it was over a historic male relationship from a decade ago.

Maybe it was with the ‘one who doesn’t speak’ if you know you know 😂 I loved listening to Scott, Beccy and Chappers on afternoon, then when he did the show with Chris Stark, reminds me of coming from from college/uni on the bus and trying not to laugh at Bumbalayeo Wednesday. Kinda gutted for him tbh.

I used to love Innuendo Bingo 😂
Laugh out loud funny.

On another subject entirely I was listening to Radio 4's music quiz Counterpoint hosted by Paul Gambaccini. He was sounding quite frail.
Hope he's OK.
