Was anyone listening earlier when Matt Edmundson was saying he joined R1 shortly after Greg and a lot of the other presenters weren’t that friendly as they were threatened by the newer presenters (or words to that effect).
I was just trying to work out who he was referring to - guessing it was Chris Moyles maybe ?

I imagine behind the happy smiles it's all pretty toxic in those media environments. Side eyeing who's going to swipe the top presenter jobs, backstabbing, cliques ect. There's too much money and power involved. Oh to be a fly on the wall listening to them slagging each other off in private

Greg has spoken about moyles being horrible to him when he started, but I can’t remember where

I wonder what the BBC is doing in the background to get more new talent. Their current line up has much to be desired and if Greg left that would be a disaster I think.

Yet there doesn’t really seem to be any new blood? I guess they tried the influencer via GK Barry route but that doesn’t seem to have gone anywhere?

I wonder is it relative to the generation? I am 41 so hugely out of touch with the R1 audience but younger folks may have more context for whoever follows?!

Shaun Keaveny has been good this afternoon, standing in for Bob Harris.
He played a fair few punk/rock tracks that might not usually get played by Bob, with some Neil Sedaka thrown in.

Shaun has a very different Vibe to Bob. I like that he is very knowledgeable and has a lot of respect for older artists and DJs.

I don't think he would be a good fit for Saturday long term. He is an interesting change of pace, but that slot needs a more light hearted show to fit with what is either side of it.

We shall see.

My first thought was Liza Tarbuck, given the outpouring after she resigned a few weeks ago... but I guess if she quit the Saturday show to get her weekends back, she's probably not one to give up her weekday mornings either.

Truly quite shocked by the Scott news, I didn’t particularly warm to him but I never got the impression he was a twit enough to get sacked! I know with the BBC’s recent history the assumption that sacked = complaints of sexual harassment but I’d be gobsmacked if it were harassment of that nature, we’ll see.
