That article talks alot about separation from the primary caregiver - the study was done on mother's because they were commonly the primary caregiver and it was nearly 15 years ago. But it doesn't account for same-sex families. It talks about being separated from your primary caregiver for even a week can be a problem, but Reid's primary caregiver(s) haven't left him unattended.
I don't think that study backs your argument.
The trauma from the stolen generation has some similarities but it was far more complex than just parental/maternal separation. That argument is a stretch too.
