i have become so fussy with asmr over the years but i prefer when it's as realistic as possible so a regular/fast pace, talking normally or slightly softer, and not treating everything like it's made of delicate glass! i liked fast and aggressive asmr but it's become the same one style, i don't know who started it but it's an instant turn-off when i go on a video and see/hear those fluttery clicky fingers and 'hello hello hello hello' if anyone knows what i'm on about lol

my faves are ASMR Midnight, Lila Rose ASMR, IslaASMR and ASMR Vibes!
As soon as I hear someone fluttering their fingers and saying hello over and over I shut the video off. That stuff gives me anxiety. It is so hard to find new people to watch who don't do that too.

i hate it SO MUCH!! sometimes i fancy watching someone new but it always turns into me opening and closing videos for half an hour, complete waste of time. i feel stuck because i don't like very quiet and slow asmr but when you try looking for something fast or louder it's that awful style. and if they're not doing that intro they're probably talking like this throughout - 'today i'm going to cut cut cut cut cut your hair hair hair hair shhh shhh shhh'

Another lo fi, normal voice one that I love! I hate whispering, I like realistic asmr

And another 😊

isn’t it so funny the things we like as individuals? I like soft spoken on some people and whispering on others. Some I like role play others I hate it haha

Gloss and Tingles is one for this - she has such a lovely voice, but then she does this tongue clicking thing and it makes me want to rip my ears off. Sigh.

The sound actually makes me angry. It's similar to listening to someone eating with their mouth open. It's so disappointing when you find someone and it starts out promising and then there it is. Cluck cluck cluck.

I much prefer soft spoken to whispering, although some ASMRtists do whispering well. My ASMR turn-offs are the repetition of the same word over and over and plastic crinkling, like when people open or rustle plastic packaging. That actually triggers misophonia in me, it's unbearable. I have to check the tags for it before I watch anything new.

The worst to me is when they do it over other sounds. I love mascara wand sounds and hair brushing and then they ruin it with the clicking on top of it. Is nothing sacred? 😭😭😭

so many asmr-tists who think all it takes is making the tuc noise and doing a bit of finger fluttering. so lazy and boring, it really annoys me!
---
i absolutely cannot stand fast and aggressive asmr. please calm down! you’re stressing me out! why are we rushing?! do you have somewhere to be? i hate it!

Others I scratch my head at are ones like “bully does your hair in class” or “rude flight attendant” like what the fffff?

my biggest asmr pet peeve are the amount of people who think unintelligible and inaudible are synonymous. if it was inaudible i wouldn’t be able to hear you! which would defeat the point of asmr you MUPPETS.

does anyone else have asmr pet peeves?

My favourite ASMR trigger is hair brushing but my biggest pet peeve is when creators drag their hands over the bristles of the brush for ages before starting. Just brush the hair ffs!!!

i probably have too many asmr pet peeves 😂

i already mentioned the fluttery/clicky fingers and 'hello hello hello' opening for every fast and aggressive asmr video these days, another one is a wet and sticky-sounding whisper (trisha paytas for example), i can't stand it! i find this annoying in general but i especially don't like tapping on everything, mouth sounds and repeating words in roleplays, i want them as realistic as possible.

these are very specific but some creators pen choices 😂 like why would a doctor be taking notes with a highlighter? and when they're meant to be typing info but it just sounds like they're smacking the keys, make it sound like you're actually typing words!

and not really pet peeves but it made me remember how annoying i found be brave's opening ('helllllo lovelyyy.... how are you today..... gooooood') and her random tongue clicks, and i don't know if she still does this but i also remembered how minxlaura would compliment herself through the imaginary customer in roleplays, like 'oh you like my top? thank you' lol

Okay same. I don’t mind the lofi ones where they use their hand on the bristles if they’re trying to simulate hair brushing but if it’s just before the brushing, get on with it already!

another one for me is when they stop and tap on an object before using it. Like in doctor videos, they tap on the stethoscope before putting it on or on the ear thing before looking in your ears. And then tongue click their way into looking in your ears.

some slightly smaller asmr creators, i don't think i've seen them mentioned here so i thought i'd share:

- Relaxing Sleep ASMR - mainly scalp/lice checks and haircuts on mannequin heads. mix of no talking, whispering, soft-spoken, chatty/gossip videos
- Haus of ASMR - they don't post anymore but they have plenty of hair salon videos

and these do a mix of different roleplays:
- Charley ASMR
- greenbeautyASMR
- Angi ASMR

i forgot to mention in my post, SPIT PAINTING?!

Why would I find you wiping your smelly sticky wet spit onto my face relaxing?

IMG_6152.jpeg

And the sexualisation of it, the spit dribbling from her mouth in these thumbnails! so pornified it’s disgusting. can’t get away from porn ever, even in asmr! something so sweet and that’s meant to help people being ruined by porn - again.
obviously Trisha makes it even more gross but across asmr the rise in it being pornified is disturbing. there’s one where she eats whipped cream and makes her mouth look like she’s giving head and implies that it’s cum in her mouth (and men in the comments are loving it)

The sexualisation of AMSR turns my stomach and to see more and more accounts turn to this is horrible it's going to ruin the ASMR community.

Absolutely it makes my blood boil, especially when creators whose videos I used to enjoy (looking at you whisperaudios 🤢) cave into the fetishising of ASMR
