Trump supporters now, still clinging on to hope from a man that doesn't give a shit about them

The sad thing is Trump does not give one shit about this woman. He’s ruthless and self serving and cares only about himself. Everything Trump does is for Trump. I don’t understand how he’s become some sort of saviour to people

the world might as well have ended in 2012, has anything good happened since?! It's been one disaster after another

Had my first born that year. Sad to say ever since then it’s been one shit show after another and I constantly question my decision to bring life into this world

Can I just say, I wasn't including individual cases I have had good things happen to me since 2012 (was the year I left school which was a massive Halle-fucking-lujah!) I meant the world as a whole

This is just beyond insane, what exactly does she think Biden will do that could justify this toddler-esque temper tantrum?!

It's absolutely unreal how badly people are begging and clinging onto Trump. He lost, get over it omg.

People are also speculating that David Cho, a senior US Secret Service agent who's been working for the agency for ages, is some sort of Chinese spy. On the basis that he is Asian. He is Korean-American.

Not only are they delusional, also racist.

They are honestly all so delusional.

This is absolutely spot 0n. My mother believes a lot of these conspiracies (worryingly shes a mental health nurse) and I've said to her on countless occasions "if you replace the word ELITES with the word JEWS, doesnt it sound like some pretty right wing propaganda"
She just stares back at me blankly and says "follow the money". I'm not sure what she means by that and I'm definately sure she has no clue

Yiiiiikes. Many of these conspiracies have an anti-semitism undertone. Many consider Jews to be the "leaders" of the media and the "elite." Some awful people love to stereotype Jewish people as being "frugal" and "wealthy" and add this into their conspiracy.

The awful thing is, this is completely opposite to the beliefs she used to have. Just shows how easily people can be brainwashed

It is very easy at times like this where people are more likely to be WFH or furloughed and have more time to be browsing on the internet. They likely don't even realise what they are getting into and before they know it, they are in the deep end.

Shes a mental health nurse on an icu ward so through this time shes actually been busier than ever. She chooses to isolate herself and spend her spare time "researching". Shes deregistered herself from her gp to try to avoid the vaccine. She has a hat and phone case with special mesh to keep the 5g out or whatever. Soooooo an actual tinfoil hat then. It really is a slippery slope, shes completely lost touch with reality it's so sad.

Sorry you’re having to deal with this, it must be really concerning. Have none of her mental health colleagues raised concerns? I guess they are flat out at the minute. I hope as things improve she starts to see some sense. Social media is a bigger virus when it comes to mental illness than covid will be when we look at this period in the future.

Thankyou, it really is concerning. She says theres a bunch of nurses with a group chat and they discuss what they all think is "really going on". I did think they must be trying to stitch her up but I'm just coming to realise that these conspiracies are so popular that there probably is a group of them thinking this

It's so scary how nothing will dissuade people once they get sucked into believing such things.
It's like a good family friend of ours, her son who is unemployed and just spends all day online has convinced her of all of this "covid is a hoax, the vaccine is to control us" nonsense.
Then recently her son, his partner and their son all contracted Covid as well as her ex-husband and her brother-in-law who have been very ill with it.
We hoped this would change her mind about having the vaccine, especially as her husband is diabetic and in his 80s so very vulnerable, but my Dad spoke to her yesterday about having his vaccination and she is still against it! Even now.

It is so insane on SO many levels, surely if a group were somehow "in control" of everything they could manage to get rid of all of the discrimination they face? Although I guess I don't know why I should bother trying to insert any logic into this madness

Ah, this is funny. I was catching up on some old episodes of the comedian Richard Herring's podcast. He interviews other comedians, actors, writers, etc.

One of his guests was Mark Gatiss from The League of Gentlemen. The episode is a few years old but they touched upon conspiracy theories. They were having a laugh about the 'real Paul McCartney is dead' one. Joking about all that time and effort that went into commiting a crime, hiding a body and covering it all up... to then decide to put clues about it in their music.

Then Mark Gatiss said the following, which I thought was spot on;

"I find conspiracy theories fascinating. I think what they actually represent is a desire to impose order on the universe. It's secretly rather pleasing to think there is a dark government out there in charge of everything - because there f***ing isn't! The world is a howling abyss of chaos."

Great quote
