not about a particular post but I love how people think they know better about viruses (not just covid) than actual scientists who have studied and dedicated their careers to this, but yes dave on fb knows more based on ‘research’ he has done on google

people fail to realise you’re research will show what you want to see, so if I want to find proof vaccines cause autism then there are many sources out there for this- (not that I believe them)

How can you possibly think a vaccine alters DNA!? 🤣

I hate the way they call themselves critical thinkers as if only conspiracy theorists are capable of it. I don’t think half of them even know the meaning of the word critical thinking but it makes them sound smart so they run with it.

Also when they call everyone who doesn’t blindly go along with what they say sheep. So patronising, and kind of ironic.

And when they say they’re not scared of coronavirus and the MSM are spreading fear, but then they go and spread even more fear by sharing even more fear mongering nonsense about how the virus is a ploy for the ‘great reset’ and how we are all going to be chipped and controlled and stripped of our rights, that our kids are going to be taken from us etc etc. Tell me, who are the ones living in fear again?

I used to enjoy reading conspiracies as a bit of fun, some I believed some I did not and it seemed ok to point this out at one time and even have a discussion, but it’s all gone a bit nuts over the last year, anyone who has questions or doesn’t go along with what ever the qanon lot are spouting gets called a sheep and told to ‘open your eyes’ ‘do your research’. They claim to be a welcoming community but will shun anyone who has even a shred of doubt about the whole thing. Makes it very hard to actually have a discussion with these people.

Think the most annoying ones for me stem from the idea that Donald Trump is saving us all from some pedophile ring. Also the standard CT playbook that comes out. The ‘wait and see’ bollocks that never materialises.

The phrase ‘critical thinkers’ and people applying it to themselves because they only believe what they read from dubious online sources rather than ‘MSM’ as it’s referred to. Reassuring themselves with this title of critical thinker, that they are actually just special little snowflakes unlike the rest of us ‘sheep’.

Telling people to do their own research when asked for any evidence (as what they have is easily discredited) or just ignoring large bits of information which discredit their theories.

I think the covid stuff is probably the worst I’ve seen but I can’t say I’ve ever been as exposed to these views as I am now so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ahhh I love this thread. I've always found conspiracy theories a bit of fun but there's a world of difference between "the moon landing was faked" and "Hillary Clinton rips the faces off children and wears them as a mask to stay eternally youthful".

The conspiracy theory thread here is mad. There's no arguing with any of it, because that's what they WANT you to believe. People also move incredibly quickly - someone will post a video saying, for example, the US military created coronavirus, with "hmm, what do you think?" Then a week later the same person will say, "So as we all know, it's been confirmed that the US military created coronavirus..." No it hasn't! You watched one mad video last week!

There's also a very, very strong strain of anti-semitism underlying many of these theories. No, the world isn't controlled by Jewish bankers. Cop on.

It's the people that think they are wise and don't follow the herd like the rest of us that get me. I feel sorry for Bill Gates, bloke is giving away his own cash on large scale public health initiatives and is vilified.

Don't see Bezos, Musk and didn't see Jobs doing anything near that.

Funniest thing I saw recently was someone on Instagram claiming with a straight fact that the flu vaccine has given people the new strain of covid and that’s why numbers are increasing.

A few days later they were posting claiming the virus doesn’t exist at all. They often flip flop on whether it’s real or not depending on what the conspiracy of the day is. Can’t have it both ways😂

I find people who believe in conspiracies so odd. Yet there are no end of systems and activities actually going on that could be classed as conspiracies yet people don't seem to mind that. I'm talking of large companies paying little tax, the fact that the UK's social mobility is declining etc..
I keep seeing the explanation why people fall for conspiracies by experts being that it's not socio-economic status or education, it's feeling helpless, powerless. Which is fine and makes sense.

But I think there's more to it, like this quote.

There's real ways in which the world is fcked up, it is known by now that some big things really happened, eg the US did actually experiments, with vaccines in Pakistan and parts of Africa in the deprived areas and experimented, the US also experimented on its own citizens without their knowledge or consent with nuclear radiation experiments, then cases of natives being made infertile against their will and without their knowledge, wars that have been started on false premises (Iraq for instance), even the Nato bombing countries going against all international law and never facing any type of consequences or war trials, then one recent civil war and one side gets massive punishment and the other gets a slap on the wrist even though atrocities by both sides were equally disturbing, plus all the ways in which governments and corporations fck with citizens, and this is just stuff from the late 1900s to early 2000s (and now).

I think stuff like this is a big reason why people then do believe in (some) conspiracies, because these things are known and written about even by the "MSM", so then people think they are "in" on the "next big secret" or whatever.

Believing all US politicians are pdos except Trump is proper insane.

At the same time, to take something very current that just broke the news, how often does one read in celeb comments sections "Armie Hammer is an abusive pos and cheats on his wife", they seem happy, then the divorce and now all these things coming out (to keep this brief).

The spread of mis- and disinformation, plus the flood of actual valid information, we just can't deal to process all the real stuff, but then it's all in the same place, the mis- and disinformation plus the true stuff, then knowledge of actual shyte that went and still goes on and you're quicker in a hole believing shyte than anyone thinks possible.

Imo some of the major reasons to not believe the Covid and Q conspiracies (which are too insane to believe anyway, but let's entertain the idea that they might be possible) are:
Q: Can anyone really believe that all politicians are pdos except one, and that one person has the power to put a stop to this? What makes T so powerful and able to put a stop to sth like this to begin with? How is it statistically and realistically possible that all politicians are pdos and perform human sacrifices and make a serum made from babies blood to "stay young and healthy" and yet they all are and look old as hell and frankly some look like shyte. I mean this literally doesn't even compute.

Covid: So the whole world is in on this conspiracy, even though some countries (eg USA and China, and there are many countries that hate each others' guts due to shyte history between them) can't stand each other at all and constantly try to undermine each other and reveal shyte about each other via their intelligence, yet, through some miracle, all countries of this world are in on the same conspiracy, can't agree on trade, but can agree on this?
Plus the chip thing. This was entertaining in the 1990s, but these morons don't seem to be able to grasp that they are chipped far better and more efficient through their computers, mobile phones, social media, apps. TikTok is actually used by the Chinese government as spying tool, sounds like another conspiracy, but hey. People film their surroundings, put their schedules in their mobiles, connect all their accounts and yet somehow some tiny-ass chip with no ability except tracking locations is somehow going to be implemented, even though your phone and phone/computer usage already does that? What is even the point of a chip in this day and age of mobiles and social media????
Chipping is equivalent to getting rid of your phone in favour of a fax machine. Chips are old useless technology and can't do much except track location and do payments and open doors (as used in Sweden by some nutty people), literally what your phone already can do.

If anyone managed to read all this: Thanks for reading this daft novel of a rant. 🙈

Edit: Plus, epi- and pandemics have existed all throughout human history. They exist specific to plants as well (there are several flora pandemics currently raging as well, one affecting trees in Europe and one affecting bananas in South America). What on earth makes these people think that a pandemic is so impossible? I literally heard people say "this never happened in my life!! [that's why it's impossibly real]" 🤦‍♀️ "because it will disappear soon [meant summer 2020], it's proof that it's a virus made in a lab" and then by the same person "because it goes on this long [said ca. Oct 2020] it's proof it's made in a lab", like, fcking hell, fcking WHAT???
There are constantly some epi- and pandemics and yet people lose their shyte and think it's impossible just because now such a major one happened in their lifetime. Open a book, read some history ffs.

I mean I asked at least three or four times in the conspiracy thread the other day to explain to me the purpose of the great reset or why this is happening and I just got told I didn’t understand economics and they’d laugh at me when it all comes true?

I mean again they didn’t answer the question and provided no facts. Of course all of the facts have been hidden by the media and government 😂 I am a sheep though so what do I know!!

I met up with a friend I have known since school before lockdown actually around the end of November and I was actually horrified at the change in her.....she practically forced her young daughter to hug me which shocked me....not because of the social distancing measures but because she has never done this before.....but then she started asking if I was wearing a mask....quite forcefully 😱 I said I was....then asked if my daughter would not be accepting the vaccine....(she is a student nurse) what frightened me the most about her state of mind was when she leaned in and told me she was giving me some information and I was to make sure I was stocked up fully with food, camping equipment etc as on either the 16th or 21st December the power was being turned off.....🤷‍♀️ I asked why? And she told me to go home and look up the great reset!! It was scary to see someone who used to be so rational and quite knowledgeable reduced to this quite manic person!! She said she had deleted all her mental health nurse friends from facebook and that made me think she knows deep down that they would be concerned for her......all her facebook is now is conspiracy theories about the vaccine etc!! At the end of the conversation her daughter who is around 8 actually said.....have you watched the hunger games?? I said yes and she said well that is what the world is going to be like very shortly!!! 😱😱😱 it's one thing to have these ideals but quite another to pass them on to your young kids 🤦‍♀️

All the anti-vax shit going around drives me insane.

When people are claiming all the Q-Anon rubbish about Pizzagate / elite paedophile rings / adrenochrome extracted from stress chemicals emitted by small children being tortured etc, I can shake my head and be like "yeah, they're just crazy" - even when they're trying to guilt you into not joining their Save Our Children marches 🙄

But denying Covid exists is beyond disrespectful to those suffering the effects of it first-hand, those health-care workers putting their lives on the line to care for people dying from it and families who are losing loved ones to it. And then to be out there trying to persuade people not to have the vaccine-this makes my blood boil!

If you chose not to have the vaccine, if you are worried about the as yet unknown, long-term health implications or that it's been developed too quickly I can kind of get it and, although I still think we have a moral and societal responsibility to have it, I also believe in freedom of choice and can take the view of "it's up to you." But to then actively try to discourage others from having it-why would you even do that?? What do you personally get out of that other than validation of your own selfishness when people agree with you?! The more people who have this vaccine is our only chance of gaining some semblance of normality back!

The idea that every country in the world would get together to shut down global economies to track people through a vaccine when we are already tracked by our mobile phones is just nonsense.

The idea that big pharma/Bill Gates has invented this to make more money or that it has to be man-made... have these people not heard of diseases like Smallpox?! Or the plague? Or, even more recently, the Spanish Flu?!

Pandemics are not a new phenomenon and to think that it must be constructed by humans is incredibly arrogant, as if nature couldn't possibly have created such a thing.

I also think it's no small coincidence that these conspiracy theorists don't just believe in one, you tend to find they believe in them all. They claim that they "looked down the rabbit hole" and have "done their research" - when they actually mean they got sucked into watching hours of You-Tube videos! Oh the irony of fearing being controlled and tracked when you then discuss all this rubbish on social media platforms, on your mobile device which tracks you ALL THE TIME!

I just wish these "enquiring minds" would channel their energies (and their aggression-they get so nasty when challenged) into unearthing the facts behind REAL cover-ups, to actually help investigations into miscarriages of justice etc rather than spending their time spreading dangerous misinformation, trying to persuade those who are scared and vulnerable to join them and ultimately add to this crisis we're all living through.

(sorry for the essay, just feel so passionately about all this!)

Yep! I posted this list of words commonly used in conspiracy theorist / Trump supporter circles on a different thread a couple weeks back. Think it’s relevant here, a glossary if you will of frustrating words/phrases. The startings of CT bullshit bingo

New World Order
Sheep / Sheeple
George Soros
“Here... watch this video to open your eyes” *video always from a highly dubious source*
WAAAAKE UP!
The Great Reset
PLANdemic
MSM
LAMEstream media
Fake news!
Bill Gates
Microchips
I strongly recommend you do your own research (the most patronising of all!)
China...
BLM
Communism
Antifa (I reference to some big mythical club with major membership 😂🙄)
This! 🙌 The one about recommending you "do your own research", you're right, so patronising! And yet their so-called "research" seems to consist only of watching videos on You Tube from crazies in America, or self-appointed "doctors" and they will. only share screenshots of made-up stats with no source material, no actual, scientific papers!

Also what kind of shady business do people do to be so worried the government are tracking? Like even if the government microchipped me, what will they find out? Salary gets paid in to bank so HMRC and bank records track almost everything to do with my spending, my phone can track my location and conversations, even my car has GPS so could probably be tracked. Youre on CCTV god knows how many times a day (mask wearing actually makes it harder to track me on this but the CTs miss the irony there when they’re screaming about not wearing them), I’m sure if they wanted to access health records they could already do so and likewise get DNA through my dentist or whatever. My passport tracks which country I am in. If I was a criminal then fair enough I’d be trying to avoid some of these things hence most criminals use false IDs, Nokia 3310s and cash only but are all these CTs criminals?! No.
I don’t have anything to hide beyond what they could already access through systems we have in place I really don’t know what microchipping me (a very average person) would achieve? Most of the CT believers I’ve seen a year ago would post their every freaking move on Facebook anyway!

Looks like I’ve found my tribe! I NEED this thread to counteract the bullshit CT I can’t stop myself from reading! I like to get a fully rounded perspective by looking at both sides of an argument and then challenge something I don’t find credible but that allegedly makes me one of the sheeple (I hate that word so much, along with lamestream media and other bon mots that seem to populate those threads 😤).

My mum scares the crap out of me with all her conspiracy stuff. Keeps telling me I’ll have to move home and we’ll only have a hundred pound a week, she’s stocked up and has alternative power supplies for when they cut the power and we can’t get food. I have anxiety anyway and have had since a kid but anytime I call her now it gets worse. It’s hard as my best friend is actually a specialist cardiac children’s nurse, her brother is a professor in another medical field and my sons uncle is a microbiologist so I know some really clever people who are saying what’s happening, about the vaccines etc and yet there’s my mum saying “why would I be telling you something that wasn’t true when you’re my child”. She went nuts that I’ve had the flu vaccine and paid for private vaccines for my son. My ex gets his covid vaccine as he also works in the hospital, again she claims now my son will get covid when his dad sheds the vaccine. It’s really crazy how much fear mongering there is from these conspiracy theorists.

Anyone who denies the holocaust is a fucking disgusting excuse for a human being and should crawl back into the hole they came out of.

Also people thinking Donald Trump is saving the world when in actual fact he's a racist, misogynistic narcissist who is hopefully going to prison soon.

This!⬆

'MSM' are apparently not to be trusted (none of it, not anywhere) but YouTube filmed by right winger zealot Joe from Atlanta is entirely credible. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤔

Scientists publishing peer reviewed papers are all in the pay of Big Pharma, but what a random, unqualified stranger posted on Twitter must be taken as accurate research.

I love reading conspiracies, aliens etc and have frequented Reddit forums for years. I’m quite open minded but I just find all this NWO/ pizza gate stuff hilarious, I just refuse to believe Boris and co would be organised enough to orchestrate “a great reset”. (Which has no gain whatsoever). Most conspiracy forums used to be a place for a fun light hearted debate on various theories now you get abuse and name called if you don’t believe in the nonsense they are posting.
Theres a guy at my work I’m actually quite worried about as his mental health seems to have taken a turn for the worse because of all this. He’s destroyed his mobile phone so he can’t be “tracked”. But will work in a building with over 50 cctv cameras and will clock in and out every shift 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Great thread - like a few of you have said I also enjoy having a read of conspiracy theories for fun and there are some world events (like Jeffrey Epstein's suicide) which I'm really sceptical about but I honestly
can't get my head around all this new world order/ pizzagate/ microchipping/ anti vax/ Covid denying, none of it makes any sense or has any rhyme or reason. The conspiracy thread on here is scary, it's the most hostile and manic thread I've read and some of the posts do really worry me. And then others I've read and thought surely the poster is joking as it's so out there but they aren't, they believe it all.

Ooh I like this thread. I know a few people who believe in the Plandemic/qanon/the great reset stuff and now they are all really pro Trump too 😬. I am in Canada and that rhetoric is really seeping in here. Every weekend there are freedom/anti covid / pro Trump protests. It is horrible. These people are friends of my husband and me - some of them my husband's friends since school. He's tried to talk to them but they are so deep into it. It is sad to see. We have distanced ourselves and I unfollowed them on SM this weekend as the stuff they believe is actually so offensive and disrespectful to all the healthcare workers, people that have died from covid etc. They are no longer people I want to know. It is a shame things are so divisive.
