New to the thread, hello.
Have been prompted to post because of comments re. penne alla vodka. In London, it's one of the classic dishes that does turn up on many of the better Italian restaurants. I don't think it is dated, typically 80s or vulgar at all. In fact, I will go as far to say that many think it's an iconic and ironic dish, and quintessentially Italian. Indeed, have eaten it loads when in Italy, particularly Florence, and if it is good enough for the Florentines, it's good enough for me. Also, it's a dish Brutto in London is well-known for, and is raved about by the food critics I take notice of.
Now, on to Anna.
She's been on my radar for a while due her occasionally appearing in the Daily Mail. I find her School of Affluence hysterically, ditto that she's a guru, albeit self-styled, for all things elegant. She really isn't, something I appreciate isn't news to anyone on here. I honestly don't understand why the Daily Mail feature her unless it is to stoke content on here. Because they like to feature her banal twaddle, I believe they are complicit in helping her scam people into buying her courses. However, a fool and their money are easily parted, and if people are taken in by someone who is clearly not as she claims, more fool them.
Anna has no sense of style, clearly isn't wealthy, and is very much one of the hoi polloi, rather than a member of the upper echelon of society. And to my eye, she looks like a hooker - from the way she dresses, to the dead eyes and the cynical and calculating way she conducts herself. But also, that she never quite gets it right - this is someone who isn't connected to or even meeting the right people whom she could learn from. It was rather validating to look through some of her threads and see that yes, she was an escort. (For the record, there is nothing wrong with that, and something I have dabbled in at a very high level).
For me though, Anna is clearly someone who tries to present herself as someone while not really understanding what they are trying to emulate. And, at the same time, she doesn't really want to be doing it either. Much like escorting, I imagine she is merely going through the motions because she wants to be a somebody. There's no effort, yet, at the same time, she tries so very hard, all the while managing to be so far wide of the mark, it's rather embarrassing, more so because there are still some falling for it. However, I do not believe Anna truly thinks she is an elegant woman, and therein lies the problem. Maybe, instead of spending her money on poorly fitting clothing and sub-par tweakments, some therapy would serve her far better.
