but it is self selection. non beautiful women are less likely to be famous, etc, so those are the ones less likely to be seen on the global stage

And absolutely this is BS. No women are better than any others simply based on their birthplace. If Anna thinks there is some hierarchy of women it makes perfect sense that she made those racist comments.

I honestly think the narrative that" Russian Women are more beautiful than western women" or "Western women are jealous of Russian women because they are prettier " was created by Russian women themselves.. Italian & Latin women are considered attractive too by westerns standards but never heard such lines.. I get that in some countries beauty is like an advantage women have to look after themselves because it's the only way they will have social mobility.. But to me, I don't see like major difference between Western women& Russian in terms in beauty maybe Russians use more surgical procedures too just like how in South Korea compared to rest of Asia.. And I'm saying that because I'm neither Russian or Western European by ethnicity so I'm really impartial here

I think it depends where you live. I grew up surrounded by extremely beautiful women and still heard many comments worshiping the Southern European beauties. Blondes with muted features adore the passionate character and contrasting features of Italian/Spanish/Greek etc ladies.
But we all are born the way we are and we gotta work with what we have I'll agree with what someone mentioned in the earlier posts that if a certain look is in demand, why not leverage it. But only very insecure women will create such phrases that put their beauty among other nationalities/races and that demean other women. They use it as a boost of self-esteem. There's a slight hint of it in SOA, too - all those JSB blog entries worshipping pretty much one look and implying that Instagram Russian Doll is THE type amongst the affluent society. It might be in fashion. It might be more popular in a typical segment of the population she 'analyzed' (3-4 Middle Eastern men during a dinner with her bf?). But other than that, in the bigger picture, this is nonsense. That is AB's type and the look she likes. Beauty comes in every form and shape and every human has own preferences regarding the looks.

Olga, an IdeAl rUsSian BeaUTy, still ends up broke and working in an Italian makeup counter after meeting her match...Mr. James Artisan.. A crazy American who abandons her multiple times, then shares the sordid story including a pic of him crying by the pool. Oh by the way he complains about the Alexander McQueen dress she is wearing. Apparently she's a gold digger because when he took her shopping to celebrate the engagement she chose the most expensive dress she could find.
