Alex DIDN'T do that though. Having read the court document, I can't find any violent threats.
I didn't say he did, or that his threats were explicitly violent. It was example of how "it's only words" can be quite harmful. You're aware of the kind of threats he used: financially ruining people, ending their careers, publicly humiliating them, etc. People only knew he was full of shit after he was charged, but during the years this was going on they wouldn't have known. Someone wouldn't get away with threatening to chop someone's head off if it was later revealed they probably wouldn't have done it. The crime is in what you made someone believe you were going to do, not what you might have actually done.

A suspended sentence isn't any kind of punishment. Alex was always a "lock them away and throw away the keys!" kind of guy, so it's easy to assume he'd want the same if anyone else had done the same. He might have got off with a warning or suspended sentence if this had been a one off, but it wasn't... he'd been doing it to multiple people over many years.

I'm not sure why random other cases keep being brought up as if they have any bearing on this case. Lock Belfield up, lock Price up, lock paedophiles up. Next.

He didn't contact anyone, he put up YouTube videos, he didn't doorstep anyone. I'm not a fan but I think his sentence was far too harsh, look at Katie Price disqualified driver, flips a car while drunk and high, she could have killed someone and she gets community service????? That's real, Belfield lived in a fantasy world, he's clearly mentally ill.
What are emails and phone calls if not contacting people?

Love him or hate him or indifferent to him this sentence should shock everyone !!!!!
I nearly burst out crying when I saw it. And I think he's a twat.
It could be you next.
And people calling him vile are rejoicing at a man being sentenced for not really doing much harm except by words, compared to other criminals.
We all speak venom about others on Tattle.
Not doing much harm?! He has harassed and bullied several people over a long period of time and also encouraged his followers to abuse them as well. He was warned about it in the past and still continued this behaviour. Locking him up is clearly the only way to stop him.

But why did they remove their badge numbers? Admittedly, I am quoting Alex here, but he said they recieved a message from someone that he had an issue with who said he had a bomb. Plus, looking at some of the footage he took, they did look like a bunch of numpties with a napoleon complex. But I won't dispute what you say. I'm just a curious passer-by and a bit worried about how far the Police can push it .. considering the Sarah Everard case etc.
Probably to avoid being stalked by him as he also liked to go after individuals in the Police force. 🥴

This isn’t over yet I think he’s about to be exposed ever more than befoee

So why does this man need us to like and subscribe to his channel to be able to say what he says is "the truth"? Why couldn't he just spit it out in that video. It seems very clickbaity to me.

One of the alleged victims in a statement said that their distress was caused by the threat of legal action. We can't have one rule for one person and different rules for organisations. When it comes to the law, it should be judged based in evidence of criminal offences.
They’re not ‘alleged’ victims. He’s been found guilty!

I am not sure why the judge would find that relevant to this case, or his sentencing. Hmmm.
From the transcript it sounds like Alex thought submitting the fact might have an influence on the sentence, same as when he claimed to be sorry for what he'd done. Maybe when Alex is released in 2025 you can ask him why he thought it relevant to mention. As part of his defence it seems like he might have claimed that he can't be homophobic as he's gay himself.

Does anyone have a link for where he allegedly claims that he is a homosexual? I can't find anything in the articles.

I haven’t really been following this case very closely. I became aware of Alex Belfield years ago when he’d do interviews with C-listers on his YouTube channel (Loose Women panelists etc). Imagine my shock a few years ago when I came across his channel again and found he was now something of a conspiratorial oddball, yelling about lockdowns.

However, reading about the case today, it seems that he is going to face a custodial sentence for… making videos on YouTube criticising Jeremy Vine. It is said that no physical stalking occurred but they he has been prosecuted for stalking.

That seems very… odd to me. Quite frankly, it seems to set quite a dangerous precedent for any of us who post about ‘celebs’/‘influencers’ on here.

Have I missed something?

Please excuse my ignorance about this topic - there might be something I’ve missed and I’ve no idea what the content of these videos is. It just seems very strange to me that you can go to jail for making videos commenting on the activities of someone in the public eye.
The charge involving Vine had an element of stalking by proxy (this can mean, say, getting third parties to do the harassment on the behalf of the stalker and it can also involve the stalker contacting other people that are connected to the victim) at various points. For instance, in one video, Belfield said: "If anybody has any private information on [name redacted] or Jeremy Vine, do send it to me and I’d like to out them, yeah. Anybody got their numbers for their family members or friends, maybe I could call them. See how they like it. Scum sucking pondlife. Carry on now. This is fun now. This is great…”

With regards to the other three victims that Belfield was found guilty of stalking: he posted an 18 minute video about Ben Hewis and Bernie Keith (real name Bernard Spedding), with their Twitter profile names posted on the video and a direct "I will hound you for the rest of your life" threat, while Philip Dehany kept various online accounts of the stalking that came from Belfield, such as this one. I hope that this helps! :)

If Alex is such a danger, then why was he not held on remand after the conviction?

In my opinion, prison should only be used for public safety, to keep dangerous people away from society.

If it was up to me, I would have given Alex 200 hours of community service, a three year suspended sentence and made him pay a victim surcharge and even that sounds harsh for online behaviour of a man of previous good character.

Must be something more going on with the guy because your average youtube alt-whatever grifter generally know where to call the line between stoking tension for views and actually doing crimes.

Clearly some sort of narcissistic personality thing happening but like turned up to 11.

Hopefully the guy calms down a bit after serving his punishments.
He comes across as a failed entertainer. In my opinion, he probably wanted to be in music or more successful in radio, but he wasn't, so he's bitter towards those that have succeeded and become a face in the entertainment industry.

What’s Katie Price got to do with this? It’s completely unrelated. If she had a custodial sentence would it make you feel better about Alex Belfield’s sentence?

There was no charge for a trans, bi or homophobic offence.
With regards to Bernie Keith, an openly gay man, Belfield was sentenced on the grounds of category A: very high culpability. Category A is classed as "the extreme nature of one or more culpability B factors", which includes an "offence motivated by, or demonstrating, hostility based on any of the following characteristics or presumed characteristics of the victim: age, sex, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity."

Keith was targeted at least partially on the basis of his sexuality, as the judge remarked that the charge included a "false and scandalous accusation that Mr Keith had regularly had sex in public on gay beaches with strangers for two decades coupled with the threat to include the allegation in a story which you would sell for publication".

With regards to Philip Dehany, another openly gay man, the judge added: "I find that this offence falls within category A1 of the relevant stalking guideline. That is the highest category. As to culpability, your actions were planned, repetitive and intended to cause Mr Dehany distress and included hostility based on his sexual orientation. I do not consider the fact that you are a member of the LBGTQ+ community means you cannot have acted with hostility based on Mr Dehany’s sexual orientation."

I don't know what to think tbh. I might be wrong, but I believe it was one of the first cases of its type. I'm sure the judge took advice. I am pretty sure though that representing himself wasn't a good idea.
A man who represents himself had a fool for a client 🤣

Obviously two wrongs don't make a right but the way Nottingham police took off their numbers and bashed his back door in (so to speak) did worry me. It did seem slightly OTT.

Is legal action legally acknowledged as intimidating?
If the threat of legal action is used as a form of intimidation, then obviously yes.

From one witness statement:

"In almost 100 emails he threatened me with rising court costs, costs which now appear to have been fabricated to alarm and blackmail me, since no evidence has been provided that any legal action was ever taken. He regularly told me I'd lose my family home and on multiple occasions said that he had hired solicitors or private investigators to find out where I live. Living in fear of this on a daily basis had an enormous strain on my family life, for most of my wife's pregnancy with our second child I was withdrawn and vacant, a time that was supposed to be joyous and exciting, stolen from me by Belfield."

I went and checked his Twitter thread and honestly, anyone supporting him outside of these crimes really needs to have a word.
In scrolling only back to early august he
(a) was impressed with Liz truss
(b) thought Liz Truss was terrible
(c) believed that increased gas/electric bills were a con like the pandemic
(d) was outraged the government weren’t doing more to help with increased gas/electric bills
(e) was sad about the Queen dying
(f) against the royal family spending money when gas/electric bills were going up even though they weren’t and it was just the corrupt mainstream media making you panic
(g) on the side of the royal family against Megan Markle

I understand it’s all a cash grab but you got to have logical consistency in your hatred or else you’re only going to attract the thickest of the thick or given the two subjects he stayed consistent on: homo/transphobia and racism, the proper bigots (see also: thick)

Heard he was a warm up before the show but wasn’t good that’s what I heard but don’t know if that’s true
He only ever did a few cover shifts for when the guy before the current permanent one was off sick, which was been well over five years ago now (probably more like 8-10). It was Greg Scott back then, who Alex has been fighting with on Twitter for years now. His grudges always seem to involve people he's worked with in some capacity.

He does like to exaggerate though. He says "working as the warm-up act on Loose Women" to describe a couple of cover shifts over the space of two years, and "going on a solo UK touring musical show" to describe playing piano in the corner of a few care home lounges across Nottinghamshire.
