Well I have acquired one of the dubai bars. There was a woman who got there before me and she emptied an entire box! Must have grabbed at least 10 bars and hid them in the buggy she was pushing. And then whilst I was in the self checkout queue behind her she was sneaking some into her pockets. It’s just madness. People were going to the till with loads of bars and a member of staff was taking them away and only letting people purchase 1 or 2.

I haven’t even tried it yet but surely even the most delicious chocolate in the world would not warrant this behaviour!

There was an assistant at the self checkout area, if anyone was scanning more than 2 bars of chocolate they were taking the remaining ones away to put back on the shelves, there was a basket full of bars waiting to be put back.

I can’t be 100% sure as I didn’t watch her the whole time as I was dealing with my own shopping but the way she put them in her pockets / put them in a concealed place led me to believe she intended to steal them - otherwise why not just have them to hand for scanning - and you could see people having bars taken off them.

Either way it was madness. I bought one bar and Mr. Pecan and I made it last until a few days ago when we finished it. It was nice but nothing world changing imo.

Be interested to know how many stores actually get the product. I have once again been on a wild goose chase, trying to find a product shown on the website, but not in branch.

A little thing that Aldi do better than the big supermarkets is the rolling baskets for when you want to do a medium sized shop.

I actually get annoyed now when I go to a bigger supermarket and they don't have them.

I don't think it will be long before my branch don't have any again. Before Christmas they got down to about 3 and could never find one then loads appeared along with notices not to take them out of the store but once again there is only a small stack of them. Sure they must be all over town used as garden trolleys etc.
It is annoying as I use the self serve and it is real akward to get a big trolley in there and hate carrying the basket when I want a mosey around the shop.

I'm the complete opposite, I hate the rolling baskets!

I'd prefer a mini trolley to a rolling basket any day. It might just be my area, but people leave them haphazardly in the aisles and I'm constantly having to step over them/ask people to move them (you're usually given a dirty look and a tut, so I'm used to just stepping over them at this point )

Yeah same! The shallow trolleys are best. I hardly ever have a gizmo or a pound tho, which is infuriating. My fault entirely tho. I'm so pleased when I spot one in the wild lol

I don't really use cash much these days, but I have a £1 coin that stays in my bag that is only used for the shallow/mini trolleys! I hate when I use a different bag and forget to put the coin in the new one

There is a trick with a normal Yale type of front door key. The round bit slots into the coin slot and releases the trolley.

Also easier to quickly put shopping away when they scan it at 100mph

I just slide mine right off the till side into the trolley then put it in my bags for life once i get to the car lol

I do the same but bag it up over at the side I can't organise it properly in the bags when they're throwing items at me

You're not supposed to bag your items at the till in Germany and both Lidl and Aldi are German so... though they should accommodate to what customers are used to in other countries imo

They have always said you should bag on the shelves in the shop but hardly anybody seems to bother and packs into their bags in the trolley. When I lived in Spain almost every packed at the shelves. I don't do a "big" shop as I live on my own that is why I prefer the self serve and the wheely baskets.

Not to brag (actually, total brag) but i pack so fast even aldi and lidl staff struggle to keep up. I use self service as much as possible which is why my lidl annoys me. No self service and it always takes ages at the till.

It does make it easier if you put your stuff on the belt in the order it goes in your bag. not bananas and eggs first then spuds on the top.

That's how I do it, tactically placing the items heaviest to lightest/most fragile but I still have to pack my bags on the shelf

My Aldi is all self service!

I use the small trolleys in Sainsbury's and do smart shop using the app, packing my bag as I scan - which works out well apart from the odd time you have to have a member of staff verify your shop by scanning a certain amount of items. They always end up messing up my perfectly organised bag

Forgot to add, I found these in Aldi today but didn't pick any up - mojito flavoured tortilla chips!
