I'm just getting used to Aldi as it's the first time I've been near one.

Any recommendations? I'm usually a Lidl lady 😁
I am a Lidl shopper too and don't really like Aldi, although occasionally find something fun in the middle aisles. Generally (sorry) I think Lidl is much better. Will be interested to see what others say.

It's definitely area dependent.
We've had both open in the last year, I know for a fact that the Lidl is doing terribly. I mentioned how quiet it always was in there and was told by someone who works for Lidl that they were disappointed with Sales so far.
The Aldi is too new to really be able to gauge how popular it is yet but in general, the people I know favour Aldi.

Interested in what you find better about lidl? I find that in terms of the usual stuff they have aldi and lidl have pretty much the same things. Some stuff is slightly better in aldi, some stuff slightly better in lidl but the difference is negligible really. Aldi for me has better special buys and lidl have more variety in terms of the special food from other countries etc although I've noticed aldi are starting to do those a bit more.

I really hate the lidl near me, always messy and no self service checkout, the queue always takes ages

The lidl nearest to me in Dublin city centre is what I'd call "Ghetto Lidl". (Moore Street if any Dubs here )

Good jaysis, it's an experience I tell you that...!! I always leave stressed off my head 😂😂😂😂😂

I went to the one in Cork (Cornmarket Street) last month and had a very different experience to the ones I use in London. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it nevertheless but it was a bit of a shock.

Gang what do we think to the cheesy pretzels in Lidl? 🥨 I think they’re quite nice but I’m curious of other opinions.

Re. Aldi or Lidl being ‘better’, when I shopped at Lidl for main shop I was forever throwing away fresh produce. I don’t get that with Aldi, so that’s what I prefer of the two. But to be honest I think it was a storage issue as opposed to anything else! 🤷‍♀️

I prefer Lidl for the bakery but Aldi for the general shop

I wonder if it comes down to where you started ? I starred with Aldi and found Lidl confusing for ages

I find the opposite with produce now especially fruit! I think it really does depend on storage and logistics in a particular store.

Yeah i think a big part is what you're used to. I lived next to lidl before then moved near an aldi and really didnt like it. After years of aldi i don't like lidl as much now 🤣

Cornmarket Street Lidl is like The Hunger Games, my god, i came out of there in a bog of sweat, it's not for the faint hearted

I’m an Aldi girl and get a bit lost and confused in Lidl. I’ve seen people running out of Lidl with bottles of spirits or paying for them with pennies. If it had self serve I may go there more. The Aldi across the road never seems to have these issues.

This thread makes me feel better about having an Asda nearby that we refer to as Crack Head Asda 😂

I have new lidls and aldis. Closest is Lidl and I have to go here as I don’t have a car so it’s quite rare I go to aldi. I prefer aldi! When I did have a car i always chose to drive to Aldi over Lidl. However, I do think Lidl has upped its game massively and I like the app.
