News today is that the con that is PCR testing when returning to the UK is due to be scrapped for double jabbed travellers from green & amber list countries.

I’m taking with a huge pinch of salt as this is the conservative government we are talking about - the one that is giving NHS staff a pay rise from their increased NI contribution

Hi I was wondering how you will prove your double jabbed to go on holiday, not to derail but my Covid denier neighbours (who are into everything) and refused jabs are now saying they have paid £50 for a ‘fake letter’.
Surely it’s going to be electronic as there is going to be so much room for fraud, sorry for the rant I’m so angry listening to what they have said

I haven't been anywhere that has scanned it yet however - we flew from and back into Dublin to travel to Spain and they are only doing spot checks (EU has much more open borders than travel into and out of UK). In Spain they made a photocopy of the vaccine cert at my hotel but again didn't scan the QR code.

In saying that, I pre uploaded all my covid paperwork with ryanair so they could have been checking it more formally and I just didn't know!

They do look really cool! We are looking at Royal Caribbean, but they all look pretty good! It is super expensive though for what it is, but I need an actual holiday, not just me driving to Cornwall

I feel like this has bothered me more than the drivel they have been spouting these last 18 months. I pray it is all electronic and there is no room for frauds but apparently there is talk of a letter on the government website!?
Fingers crossed they get caught, not just them but anybody doing this. As for travel insurance being invalid they probably don’t even take it out

There are many places that really don't f**k around when it comes to travel documents so if they want to mess around with fake docs that is up to them.

But just try not to think about it. People will do what they want to and should they get caught, endure the consequences of that. As long as you know you've made the right decisions for yourself and your loved ones, thats the best you can do really.

This is a really personal question but it baffles me how people afford such luxurious holidays. My husband and I both work full time, his pay is pretty good, not huge but the bills are paid and we have a little bit left after the mortgage comes out. We don't have a busy lifestyle and the kids are both adults, at uni. I can't imagine being able to pay for a holiday without saving for a long time. We went to NY for my 40th and saved like crazy. I refuse to put a holiday on a credit card and I'm trying to pay those off.

I just save like crazy so I always have a good amount if I ever want to go anywhere. Pandemic helped with that as well. People shouldn't ever compare finances though as everyone's situation is different.

My only hope for a holiday is last minute snap deals where there's not a lot of time between booking and travel. Wouldn't book anything even 2 months in advance at the moment.

I was going to comment this too - don’t want to piss anyone off but flew out to Spain this morning and it was seriously easy and smooth. Lots of admin before so had to be prepared but really no different to normal.

I'm looking to go on a short European break in October - somewhere where I can stay in a bit of a bougee hotel, a place that is easy to get around without hiring a car and has nice weather at that time of year i.e. hot enough to sit by a pool/on the beach. I was looking at Malta but I've heard mixed things about it - has anyone been and can recommend it? I was looking at Greece, but think I'd like a full week rather than just a few days and after Covid - I'm really tempted to try somewhere new. Perhaps Palma in Menorca? Obviously it would need to be somewhere which is letting UK residents in without the need of quarantining!

Similarly, I'd love to maximise my annual leave between Christmas and spend New Years Eve abroad - I was thinking Mexico, but would that be too ambitious for 7 days? I really like the idea of spending new years on a beach somewhere warm. Or maybe I'll just settle for a wintery European break!

Hi all, due to go to lanzarote in November and really looking forward to it but honestly the main thing worrying me is the seatbelts on the flight. We are flying with Ryanair and I know Iv put on quite a bit of weight since I last flew especially since covid .. I am convinced the seatbelt won’t fit me. I’d be about a size 18/20 now when before I would have been 16. It’s really worrying me to the point I want to cancel the holiday

Ryanair seats are tight (due to thick armrests!) but the seatbelts are generally a good size. Honestly you’ll be fine at a size 20. Ive flown with them at a size 22 and it was fine - and even if you do need an extender, ask the steward and they will discretely hand you one. Enjoy your holiday!

We've decided not to book anything this year.I hope those that have a holiday planned get to go and really enjoy it.

Mine was with Jet2 next month and they announced today that they are canceling all hols and flights until June 23rd so that’s me not going away

I don’t see the point of a “holiday” at this point in time, you have to get jabbed, wear masks and then quarantine. It’s hardly relaxing imo, better off saving money and going camping in the countryside with loved ones. Make the most of the nice weather we’re having lol.

IMO camping is not relaxing in the slightest.

Good for you all getting away. I am counting down days to our holiday in March.

I booked flights to Florida pre Covid for Aug 21, so still hoping we can go

Was meant to go in a cruise May 21, but have pushed it back to Aug 22

Planning on Japan ... and probably a couple of other smaller trips. If travel is ok before April I might take myself off somewhere warm by myself as the Husband will be away till mid April. I love a holiday for one. Last year I went to the arctic circle in midsummer which was amazing. Not being able to travel this year has got to me more than any other covid restrictions tbh

Honestly I'd love to but it's just so fucked at the moment. One of the best elements of a holiday is looking forward to it but all this shit has taken that away from it. I really get why the travel industry is so pissed off. They can't even offer anything because they're at the governments (and other countries) whim.

We had Kraków booked for March this year, pushed it back to July and pushed it back further to Feb 2021, doesn’t look likely now it’s getting closer. I’ve already been twice (love it) but I initially booked it for my fella as his big Christmas present last year Easyjet are cancelling flights up to mid Jan at the moment so we’re expecting to be informed in the next couple of weeks. We’re gonna see what the situation is for Feb and maybe book something last minute if that’s the case (providing they’re gonna be shit hot with the refund )

We were looking at booking Tenerife for September 2021 but I think we’re just going to wait until we get to Jan and see how the world’s looking.

Oh have fun! It is quite busy out there and their cases are dropping so I think restrictions are continuing to lift (the main area this is around though now is nightlife just as everything feels pretty normal). The water park (Siam) honestly felt like any other holiday I've taken as a teen to Spain as it was so so busy.
