Am trying to say this in the nicest way possible, but..... does anyone else just find Jack a bit, well, creepy? Dunno what it is, but he really creeps me out. Especially on TikTok when he's trying to look "hot" I guess with the winking and stuff? And on instagram in photos when he's posing. It genuinely creeps me out. Something just quite unsettling?

I find it a BIG coincidence that Emmie just spoke about her new obsessions with hotels and how they act as temporary spaces etc. she made so many thoughtful comments about this topic and that she is writing a book set in a hotel and suddenly here is Jack (who never expressed his thoughts on hotels/apartamnts/airbnbs before) saying he is exploring this in his "novel".....

I met Jack through work a couple of years back and recognised him but couldn't place him. I had in my head that I knew him personally so said that I recognised him from somewhere and did I know him and he did this smarmy giggle and didn't answer me. After when I realised who he was I thought what an odd response from him. Was like dude I thought I knew you irl, you're not an A list celeb.

The people commenting "awww don't overwork yourself" make me vom. Jack would never let himself be overworked, don't worry 😂

This is why they never learn from their mistakes... Too many Yes men will make him do a membership comeback or some other "business venture" in a few months.

Also people that comment "I was a member to support you never expected extra content"??? They must be plants. It's super convenient for 3 comments saying exactly that to be there in the first 30 mins of this video being posted. Either plants or crazies.

I haven't watched his new video but I'll never get over how anglophones will act like "in translation" is a genre or category of book. It's great if you want to read more books originally written in languages other than your own, generally that means reading from cultures that are quite different to your own, storytelling traditions different to your own, life experiences different to your own, etc. which yeah, great, go for it! but I feel like pigeonholing all those books into one category kind of defeats the purpose. idk maybe this is nitpicky for a trend (? month? thing?) that's specifically about stepping out of the anglosphere but "women in translation" just doesn't really mean anything
If you live in a non-English speaking country reading translated books is just the most normal thing in the world. In my country the average person wouldn't think twice about picking up a translated book, whether it be from English or Swedish or Japanese. English speakers often act like translated books are inherently difficult and exotic and a challenge they have to set themselves. How do they they think everyone else read Twilight and Harry Potter? Oh look, it's a nice children's book about wizards... but it's set in the UK... I'm not really familiar with the culture, what if I don't understand it?

Jack: "I want to be a screenwriter."
Also Jack: "I never watch movies in my free time (which is all of my time since I'm unemployed and not a student)."

Imagine claiming that you want to work in film and be a screenwriter and making a video where you claim you'd made a concentrated effort to catch up on more classics and immerse yourself in film, then you just watch a handful of new releases on a plane, refuse to watch anything that's not in English and say shit like "I'll never watch Casablanca because I'll never be that bored". What a tool.
This (not so) humble brag is SO Jack that it's delicious. Only ever in planes (because he travels a lot) and at screenings he's invited to.... You couldn't sound more twattish about not watching many films if you tried.

Does it annoy anyone else when he makes jokes about his bank balance being low? He said in his Kylie Jenner video from today that his bank balance is like the numbers on the Squid Game uniforms (3 digits). We all know he's not actually living in poverty and it's honestly insulting for him to cosplay as poor when most people couldn't just up and move to Paris on a whim (not to mention have designer clothing, buy tons of books, etc.). I guess it's part of his quirky, relatable, "I hate capitalism" act but it's exactly that: an act. I know it's probably meant as sarcasm and I actually like Jack most of the time, but it's insulting when so many people are struggling to make ends meet.
Jack is the kind of person you meet at uni who always goes on about being "broke" while they have an upper-middle class family at home who would be able to send him money if he needed it, what they really mean is they've spent their student loan for that month, not all of their savings and any other income they might have. He can still pay for his phone bill, rent, wifi, living costs etc, he just wants to appear more "relatable" to his younger audience who are still in high school or at uni  It's so irritating to see people (not just Jack) put on this act.

people were rightfully calling him out in the comments for how extortionately priced that tier system was and he's deleted the video lol

👀

Not sure you want to be calling attention to the shittyness of charging inflated prices for a cheap and insubstantial product, Jack.

Usually the book community is so quick to talk about how men who do the bare minimum get more credit than women yet for some reason he's been spared 🙃

I feel like this OP on reddit is giving him a bit too much grace tbh. But if they paid for his BS membership they obviously like (liked?) him so perhaps that's why.

Can't help but laugh at the 'free digital products' from a half-closed company to make up for this too.

Translation: "This was staged."

So these vapid clowns travelled to Cambodia for a humanitarian aid mission and then piss about avoiding the job and pretending to read for Instagram photo ops? How is this not a holiday again?

The fact he's planning to read an arc of a book that comes out in January around March/April because "by then there will be some discourse about it". Not at all so he doesn't have to come out with an opinion of his own of course.

I heard Jack had a queeny little fit on some booktuber livestream who were covering the scandal.
---
Lol he's angry.

If this is the worst thing he's experienced then he must live in a literal bubble. The term 'platforming hatred' usually refers to media outlets giving a voice to white supremacists, homophobes and similar - hardly applicable to his situation! Interestingly, Jack was not so concerned about platforming hatred when he appeared on GB News, a channel so notorious as a bigoted cesspit that Stop Funding Hate regularly calls for advertisers to boycott it.

Disclaimer: I can't check if these were his real comments because the stream's not there. :(

The only writing Jack appears to be doing is rewriting history. Again he's acting like Revue cruelly robbed him of the opportunity to keep posting and stole some prolific mountain of writing from his fans.

He only posted one solitary, update-free entry on his monthly newsletter in August 2022. Revue didn't shut down until 6 months later, but Jack still didn't bother posting another entry in the months before that.

He has two video channels, a Twitter account, a Threads account, a TikTok account and an Instagram account. If he wanted to talk about all the writing he isn't doing, he has plenty of platforms to do that freely, he just has nothing to say and no interest if there's not cash on the table.
