Imagine claiming that you want to work in film and be a screenwriter and making a video where you claim you'd made a concentrated effort to catch up on more classics and immerse yourself in film, then you just watch a handful of new releases on a plane, refuse to watch anything that's not in English and say shit like "I'll never watch Casablanca because I'll never be that bored". Unsurprisingly, when he has the chance to ask Nicholls a question about his decades in the industry, his work, One Day or the adaptations, Jack has no idea what to ask because he hasn't read any of his work or watched either adaptation of One Day.

(I'd say he might've watched the few episodes shown at the screening, but since this is Jack, he's far more likely to have just snuck off into the cinema toilets to vainly stare at himself in the mirror giving Blue Steel for three hours instead.)

I try to be tolerant, but Why is he taking the p*** out of people trying to do their jobs? It’s a bit concerning he is taking photos of random people without their consent and plastering it all over social media. Just shows a lack of respect and consideration. Working for a living - he should try it one day!

I'm also a big fan of the way that he keeps paying lip service to how much he loves and supports diversity and is such an ally, then made yet another knock-off celebrity book video and his parade of 'Hollywood heartthrobs' is all white guys with dark hair.

That outfit looks like when at school you forget your trainers and have to do PE in your school shoes.

Sorry but I’m a member of this younger generation and I care about this whole situation, just because there are a few ignorant people it doesn’t apply to the whole generation

I'm not surprised that he botched the response to this. He's never been able to handle a modicum of criticism - I remember when he claimed someone had made a video criticising him and it made him feel terrible, and we found the video he was talking about and it was a guy ranking studytubers and he put Jack in the 'C' category. The guy mentioned Jack for all of 10 seconds and didn't even say anything negative, yet Jack talked about it like it was a personal hate video.

This is small fry in terms of influencer controversies and he could have resolved it easily, but because he is convinced he has done nothing wrong and perceives any criticism as hate, he's responding to the valid criticism with a tone of bitterness and it's making it worse.

Jack asking which edition of War & Peace to buy based on the cover is such a perfect example of his approach to books, study, and his whole career. All style over substance. The two editions he is deciding between are two completely different translations. He has no interest in finding out which translation people prefer. No, he’s just interested in which edition will look better sitting unread on his sad little book trolley.

This might just be me, but I'm really sick of seeing posh and better off people debating working class issues. These people have no idea what it's like to truly struggle, yet here Jack is appearing on a right-wing channel for bigots like he's the hero we all need.

No, Jack. We don't need you to fight our corner. We need more voices from the people who actually have these struggles, not some posh YouTube personality who's only struggle currently is choosing terrible puns for your videos and the best angle to take a selfie with a croissant and book.

On another note, I saw one of his tiktoks earlier and it was him showing what his favourite book of 2021 was. The caption read 'my favourite book, and I've read 164 of them!' Oh piss off, Tory boy.
