I love Eve and wish nothing but the best for her but I struggle to stomach the idea of her exploring Australia for free. I get that it's part of being an influencer but it always irks me to watch them getting free stuff
I feel this even more with Eve because it doesn’t even make sense to do a partnership with her. Not once has she expressed an interest in travelling Australia, solo travelling etc. nor does she make travel content. Despise Molly with ever fibre of my being but at least she does attempt travel content and has always talked about travelling. Eve has only become interested now it’s free so it comes across as even more grabby, especially given people are going to be cutting back on holidays etc. at the moment anyway.

In all honesty I feel super bad for her. As someone with thyroid problems and has been really struggling with my hormones atm. You can't think straight and she is allowed to be sad she is human

I'm actually surprised she's in favour of the proposals to get rid of anonymous posting. Surely as a wannabe political journalist she would realise anonymous accounts are a way to keep the government to account and protect the voices of certain groups?
I’m getting far too irritated for this, surely being able to express your opinion is essential to a democratic society? Like if we’re banning sites like this (which don’t break the law) which they can block them what would happen? They’re all just so far up their arse, people who are obsessed with themselves and their images

Yeah it’s really not our business but I’m also in my final year and still a virgin - and it’s not like I don’t go out either. You’d definitely be shocked by the number of people that don’t want to have their first time be a hookup in a club, so they just don’t have sex

As a teacher I am honestly disgusted by companies like Dell giving laptops for free to influencers - not just Eve - especially at a time like this. My school has a waiting list of kids who need devices so they can take part in their *essential* online learning. We’ve paid for families to get internet connection. We’ve begged and borrowed laptops from anywhere and everywhere we can find them. And massive multimillion companies just throw their products at influencers like Eve who will never open that laptop again after posting that AD. It’s just infuriating.

I find it so insensitive that she’s spending all her time complaining about having to self isolate or about not being able to do her year abroad when people are literally dying.
My dad died in April, my friend lost both her grandparents in 1 week, my auntie and her husband almost ended up homeless due to being made redundant because of covid. I’ve seen my teachers fall in debt, my friend had a miscarriage due to stress, family members pass away, my friends fall victim to mental health and an nhs system that is failing. All because of covid.
Nobody cares that her year abroad didn’t pan out. She needs to grow the fuck up.

Also its such a weird take, like imagine being so privileged that this is the first time in your life you're theoretically not able to do something (go on holiday) but other people are.

Ive not been on holiday abroad for years because I cant afford it. Does that mean nobody else should go on holiday either?!

She needs to STFU with her imposter syndrome. It got old around A-level time. When you consistently ace your exams, it just comes across as patronising to viewers to pretend you’ve done badly.

Is she ..... really complaining about her landlord asking for her to send her flat key back to Germany

"Thats landlords for you"

Oh baby I wish all my landlord asked for was the key back, instead we had to live without heating for two months because our landlord refused to fix the boiler and we were scared wed be evicted in the middle of the pandemic if we called the council to report them
This! I remember her saying that she forgot to hand the key over before leaving Germany, so the issue was her fault? I moved out of my student house in the middle of the first lockdown and we were all asked to post our keys through the door. Of course the landlord wants the key back, it's their property and they probably wouldn't consider returning any deposits until they had the key back.

I'm definitely not pro-landlord, and have also had awful landlords, but this was straight up her doing and I don't know why she was complaining about it.

I’m actually happy for Eve with this job! She’s the only one so far from that studytube group that is doing something job wise! And it’s refreshing to see, that she’s not doing something easy work from home and YouTube too, but she’s focusing on her future

I agree - I’d be pretty devastated if my year abroad was cancelled. Like obvs people have other issues going on but it doesn’t make the disappointment any less valid
I don't have problems with Eve's disappointment at all, my problem is that the way the pandemic is inconveniencing her seems to be her main concern and she's willing to break the rules so she's not inconvenienced. We've all had to see disappointing things in the past year - I had my graduation cancelled - but you have to come to terms with it eventually and no amount of complaining on Twitter is going to make things right for you.

Honestly I have sympathy for her right now. I can’t imagine she’d be lying about the Oxford situation if her cohort are writing complaints to their department. It’s shocking behaviour of Oxford at their end and whilst I don’t agree with some of Eve’s actions whilst she has been away, I believe she has been stuck between a rock and a hard place due to her university.
I hope her thyroid/hormone issues are resolved. I know first hand how frustrating it is as most doctors don’t really care and the first thing they do is stick you on the pill with no proper investigation. I realise most of the time the pill is what would be used even with diagnosis but in terms of mental health, it is exacerbated by the fact you don’t have answers to your questions. I’m in a similar boat that I have excess hair and whilst I don’t have irregular periods they are extremely painful, among other symptoms. I have been on multiple pills and just feel gross whilst being on them. I’d rather feel like doctors are doing what they can to get to the root of the problem rather than brushing it under the rug with the pill. Anyways, a bit of a ramble, I’ve had my good and bad moments with Eve this past year or so but I’m glad she has been more transparent with this video. I hope things get better for her soon.

Like, as much as people are allowed to have their own specific concerns and worries, if she could kindly shut the fuck up about her year abroad now, that would be great. At first I thought perhaps she had family abroad that couldn't make it to the UK, but silly me, of course her and her fellow ~linguists~ are the priority here. She's been fucking lucky to have been able to get home safely to her family. She's flouted all advice not to travel and has had a great time in Berlin for a whole term and more. Going to Spain in the new year would be reckless and nonessential. I wonder what it would take for her to realise just how lucky she's had it for the past few months?

Have a friend who used to see Eve around LMH and says her and Robert are often walking around, clearly pretty in love. They seem very happy and cute together. She seems to be thriving apparently.

Actually so happy for her. After a rough first year, I'm glad she's found someone that treats her well and that relationship she waited a long, long time for. The fact they've known each other for 3.5 years and decided to go down the relationship route makes me think it'll last a long, long time. So wholesome.

Oxford have told her she has to go abroad and if not she won’t be allowed to do 4th year basically
yeah my friend does spanish at oxford and the modern languages department literally said be patient and DON’T go anywhere until things are clearer and they are probs gonna suspend the 24-week requirement. She’s only going because she wants to and doesn’t care about the consequences 🤷🏾‍♀️

She went to a proper grammar where you have to test to get in, and according to its Wikipedia its one of the best in the country
This always irritates me a bit as despite being massively selective (both in terms of academic ability and often, the ability to live in the right postcode) grammar schools are still considered state schools and are counted as such in all of the stuff universities trot out about ’X% of our pupils are from state schools’. The term ‘state schools’ covers a huge variety of different kinds of schools, from an underfunded comp in an area of deprivation to a highly selective grammar in a leafy Home-Counties suburb. It’s not that the universities are doing anything wrong, but I wonder what the stats would look like if you split state schools into comprehensives and grammars. I bet there’s statistically fewer pupils from ordinary comps getting into the top universities, and particularly so because grammars aren’t national but they can cream off a lot of the top-performing pupils in the areas that abut them.

I just think sometimes there’s a lack of nuance in stuff that‘s supposed to benefit ‘state school’ pupils and those with deeper pockets and sharper elbows nudge in - being realistic, it’s much harder to get into a grammar if you can’t access the tutoring/support that wealthier pupils benefit from. From a purely numbers perspective, I’d guess that a lot of grammars are technically more selective than many of the top selective independent schools, both in terms of academics and economics, but that never seems to be considered.
