Whether for Christmas/birthdays, etc, some people seem to have the knack of buying just the right thing for presents.
Years ago I worked alongside a girl who was young enough to be my daughter. We got on like a house on fire and became really good friends. (I was probably old enough to be her granny tbh)

Obviously during our chats we'd discussed things we liked, etc. One day she giggled when I told her that I'd once bought some bubbles and spent the afternoon blowing them out in my back garden, hoping the neighbours didn't see me. Many months afterwards on my birthday she presented me with a card and a gift-bag containing 'all of my favourite things' - a miniature bottle of Baileys/a bag of peppermint aeros/a lovely decorative box of tissues ... and a some bubbles!
Of all the gifts I've ever received throughout the years, hers is the one that always sticks out in my mind. So thoughtful, and so personal - it really cheered me up and made my day. It taught me a thing or two as well - gifts don't have to be expensive to be really appreciated, just thoughtful.
