I picked up on Mark’s comment too re: census. I do think she is pregnant. Lily will be furiously riding Rich to keep up with the Newton’s 😂

IME, one of the great difficulties about this topic and the pain the discussion of it can cause is that while fertility struggles are hugely more common than they’ve often been portrayed in the past, the truth is that the majority of people do get pregnant in the first few tries (you’re strictly speaking most likely to get pregnant on try number one) so the vast majority of candid discussion of the topic runs the major risk (audience/participants dependent) of being very hurtful and anxiety-provoking.

I don’t know what the answer is, I’ve never been able to work that one out. All I know is that it’s horrible when you’re on the crap end of it because your journey hasn’t been straightforward, for one reason or another.

I will admit that I balked a bit at Lily’s framing of 5 months TTC, but re Anna I don’t think a situation in which people feel they have to walk excessively on eggshells about the fact that they didn’t struggle to conceive is a desirable thing either. It’s not healthy to have a landscape that’s lapsed from “taboo to talk about struggles” into “taboo to talk about anything that wasn’t a struggle” - both are unfair and give a skewed impression of the world. Her experience is enviable to many but it’s not some freakish fluke, it seems to have been a very normal experience and I didn’t personally get the sense she was being glib or smug. Just feels like another “women can’t win either way” situation. The simple truth is that most people do conceive relatively fast, I don’t see that cognisance of that changes anything for those of us for whom the journey there is less straightforward, and personally I wouldn’t/don’t gain anything from avoidance of that fact. If anything the opposite. But it’s such an intensely personal thing.

I think the best anyone can hope to do if they’re going to discuss it all in a relatively public “place” is to be tactful, and perhaps to offer prior warning about the nature of the discussion.

She also said she would like to have a garden someday while she was already in the middle of buying said garden

Oh he's just so defiantly unattractive 😟
The posture, the facial expression, the shirtS (because, like most octogenarians, he needs a wee vest under his shirt even though it's JUNE), the inexplicable confidence:
I swear a few years ago, when he was featured for a second or two, once in a blue moon, I actually thought he was cute?!
What the hell happened?! To both of them, actually. She was bright looking and attractive and made an effort with her appearance - now she's spending a fortune on all this bastard beige, and cultivating a werewolf brow, and wearing nandals for fuck sake!
The two of them positively ooze smug, but they both look sort of sickly and brainwashed or something?
I'm saying nothing new here, I'm just flummoxed afresh, having seen the recent photos, as to how these two are earning a really decent living as influencers? I mean, the state of them 😬

"Dear Seller, oh my word, we love your house and we are here for it. We have been looking for yonks, the moment we saw your house, we can just picture the little moment moment living here. The garden moment! The walk-in wardrobe moment! The pantry moment. Oh yeah, if we are going to buy a house, this is the one"

The window situation is tragic. You can get beautiful wooden sash windows that are double glazed probably for about the same price that they spent in restoring these originals. The fact that she says double glazing doesn’t work on windows that warp and move over time is worrying as it means the whole refurbishment project is just for aesthetics. If they expect those windows to move so drastically, that house will never be warm, water tight or energy efficient.

Edited just to add, it’s shameful how irresponsible this is to the environment. Energy efficiency isn’t only about your comfort and cost, it’s about how much energy is wasted contributing to global warming. It’s the 21st century and as someone who grew up in continental Europe (which is often far more energy conscious than the UK) I find it quite upsetting the government here is not making more effort to cut the energy waste as clearly people can’t be trusted to make informed decisions themselves.

Bit of recap:

- Anna keeps showing her damp and damaged house, and OH MY WORD, they spent £1million on it;
- Mark can’t do anything except birdwatch and grow one potato;
- He may as well film Anna’s content using that one potato as a lens, the quality would be much of a muchness;
- Anna is pregnant through the act of good karma, in case you hadn’t heard about it;
- Their lives seem so dull and empty, so the house is essentially a metaphor at this point;
- She’s still dressed entirely in creased beige;
- They are currently on a babymoon break (shudder).

She looks healthy and normal. She eats well and exercises. Can we not call her chubby please.

There is plenty to discuss about Anna without resorting to pregnancy speculation; her house move, her frequent usage of the word 'like' and her disadvantageous relationship with her 'work wife'.

Her dreadful grammar in that sentence aside, why should her bed never be made again? Because they have a two month old? So… she can’t fling back a duvet and place a couple of pillows?

Oh, oh, and not just her: the other unemployed adult also living in the household.

Well… gracious me.

She’s going to be so embarrassed in twenty years when she looks back at photos of her with her newborn and all she can see is her fucking eyebrows.
To be fair, I suspect that when the child looks back at photos of them all the first question would be ‘Mum and Dad, were you in a cult when I was born?’ The current fashion choices (of the pair of them) are just odd. It doesn’t look classy, minimalist and Scandi, it just looks like the kind of photos that Netflix will use at the start of the documentary about how it all went wrong ...

Anna will be doing nothing but wishing and hoping she gets to Monday without giving birth so that Mark Jnr can be a ViRgO just like his mum 🙄
Oh, is Anna a VIRGO? I don’t think she’s ever mentioned that she’s a VIRGO, because wouldn’t that be funny if she was a VIRGO and then her baby was a VIRGO too? There’d be two people in the house who are VIRGO, what good karma with all of that VIRGO energy. I am so HERE FOR IT!
