I thought the launch of 30 was very over-the-top too. So much publicity, plus Oprah fawning all over her, and then that incredibly nauseating “audience with ..” thing with all the celebs in attendance (paid by the record company, I assume) and that staged appearance by her old teacher. I nearly cringed myself inside out.
Where does she go from here, I wonder?

Blind Item #5

The foreign born one named A+ list singer is getting trashed by everyone who works at the casino where she is supposed to play. They hate her.

It explains why staff have apparently been told if they leak comments to the press they will be sacked.

Of all the people in the world sky news get on Matt Goss to essentially talk about himself

That reminds me to watch his documentary again, the cringe of it all. Not quite as epic as totally scott lee, but worth a watch!

As for Adele (pronounced the Jade Goodey way) many people in the industry were surprised that she completed so much of the last tour 6 years ago.

I liked the first album, and rolling in the deep was how you kick off a campaign but it just sounds like x-factor montage music now. I love Greg Kurstin's stuff but he's just repeating the pattern with the songs he makes for her.

She's managed to force Spotify to make paying customers listen to the album in order, rather than be able to choose random tracks as they please.

I think she's lost the plot. How arrogrant can you get? She seems to be totally stuck on herself and a victim of her own hype. I have gone right off her and can't wait for her to go away for years again once she finishes this ghastly promo trail.

I hate carpool karaoke with a vengeance. It’s just James showing off and trying to sing over the actual singer. We get it, you can sing - but you’re still not as good a singer as the artist you’re with.
Look at me! Look at all my famous mates! Look at us! I've got all these A-list friends! Look at me.

It never stops.

^^^Bit rich of Piers to pontificate "The show must go on" when he walked out of his own TV show!

Her makeup is way too heavy lately. I think it's verging on a more drag style of makeup. I thought that point of having all that shit injected, sculpted, removed, lifted etc was so that you "naturally" look amazing and reduce the need for makeup altogether.

She’s been swallowed by LA - which I think she loves tbh - but a byproduct of that is being way too hyped, which she can’t live up to.

Adele is just Gemma Collins with a voice. She’s toxic, combative, confrontational and a chav and it’s always anyone else’s fault but her own.
Also, her music is the blandness collection of ballads; damning indictment of the world that she’s so popular.
Great comparison with Gemma Collins. Yes, you’re spot on.

My (uninformed) opinion suggests cocaine as the missing piece in this jigsaw. A habit that’s possibly been going on for a long time and that her “team” is well practised at hiding. It would explain the extreme weight loss, the haggard face, the LA scenester mates, the divorce, the highly curated interviews, the emotional lability, the sudden freak out, the cancellation of the entire residency with no clear commitment as to when it’ll be rebooked, the refusal to consider doing stripped down or unplugged shows as an alternative.

I just like having a theory that pulls everything together! 🤷🏻‍♀️
Personally think this theory covers all bases

I‘m sure you wouldn’t get this sort of last-minute excuse-fakery from Dolly Parton (for example - no idea if she still tours but she just gets on with it, professional and amazing too.)

I find most artists these days are just trying to be like and rehash songs and fashion styles from the 70s and 80s. Harry Styles with his nonsense dressing up as a woman, which had been done by various musicians back in the 80s.

Nothing seems original any longer. I wasn't even raised during that era as I was born in 1988. I just prefer the music from 20+ years ago. The young artists these days don't have any originality and it's grating. Even artists today sampling tracks from the 80s.

I barely listen to any new music. I grew up with and was a fan of late 90s and early 00s music, especially the r'nb and hip hop. I no longer listen to hip hop music as it's total garbage and just mumbling crap. It's not even nostalgia either, because plenty of people my age or younger agree that older music was far better.

This is why Adele, to me, is overrated. When you think back to the female singers of old, you realise that this generation has so many overrated artists. There used to be Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Cher, Annie Lennox, Allanah Myles, Pat Benatar, Sade, I could go on and on.
Good points. Harry Styles doing what David Bowie and other talented artists did long before him. Harry thinks he's all revolutionary but he came from a cheesy boy band manufactured from a shitty reality show.

My understanding from articles I’ve read is that Adele, being the perfectionist that she is, has strategically placed the best people to manage her music, image, social media, play on her tracks etc.

My issue is that if her anxiety is so crippling, why schedule a residency? Schedule two shows as a trial
She has access to the best doctors who can help with her anxiety too and work alongside her (and I am fully aware of how crippling anxiety is)

Cancelling the whole residency doesn’t make sense .

I'd pay more for Jane Mcdonald than I would for Adele!
All Adele does is while to shit music, the female version of Chris Martin.

I wouldn't say I was a big fan of Adele but I like her first three albums well enough and thought she came across okay, but since she moved to America she appears to have gone all la la land spouting stuff about the position of saturn and whatever, and it amazes me how different she seems now. I'm actually very happy for her she lost the weight, good for her, but with her dirvoce and this album release it feels like she's let her success go to her head in a bad way. She said she thinks her new album will save lives...I couldn't roll my eyes enough.

She also needs to not act like the only person on the planet who has been divorced. Beyond tiresome now.

I am baffled at the way the media act like Adele is not only the best singer ever but almost like she single-handledly invented music. The hysertia is so weird to me. I think she's good but the media have lost their collective minds over 30 and upon listening I can't understand why. I found it to be a real damp squip myself.
