What was “the big drama” at your school?

A pupil in my class died while on a school trip abroad. I remember bugging my Mum to go and her saying no as it was too far away. I'm so glad she stuck to her guns. Being 13 and dealing with that at school was bad enough. We had paparazzi outside trying to get interviews etc. A few of the teachers who were on the trip had mental breakdowns and had to leave the profession. It was just horrid.

Not really the same but did anyone else have the rumour about the ‘it’s gonna taste grrrrreat’ kid from the Frosties advert killing himself go round their school?
Yes he killed himself by shoving two pencils up his nose and impaling his brain. 😑

A teacher at our school got sent to prison for sexually abusing his children. He was a nasty creepy fucker who used to tell the boys in our class to stand under the stairs or lie on the floor so they could look up girl's skirts  Not one person was surprised about his conviction, just felt sorry for his kids.
That wasn't even the biggest drama at our school, he was such a pervy prick we were just glad he'd gone.
Several of our teachers met at school, and at least 1 couple were originally married to other people. There were also a couple of others having affairs (quite openly). Loads of kids used to smoke at breaktime as there was no supervision (also this was the 1980s) but that wasn't drama, just the way it was. Come to that some of our teachers used to smoke in class. It was a different time 🤣

I then changed schools for 6th form to an all girls school. The big dramas there were - mainly the number of teachers/ former teachers in relationships with pupils, one of the teachers had a full on mental breakdown in the carpark at lunchtime one day and was vandalising cars (before getting taken away by the MH team) however the one that provoked most outrage from the teachers was when someone tippexed something blasphemous on the wall; we had several whole school assemblies as that was taken v seriously (As you can gather it was a very 'good' school with no behaviour issues given the teaching staff felt that was the worst thing a pupil had ever done!)

I was in year 7 high school, this was in the late 90s and a man who was suspected to have a gun had entered the school playing field. The school was locked down and we were all confined to the classrooms long after the time school had finished. There were lots of police, dogs and a helicopter, our class had full view of them all looking for him as we were in the multi storey science block. We were escorted out in lines and told to go straight home when man was found. I don’t recall ever being told wether or not they did recover a gun.

The geography teacher we had was quite creepy. He was a fat middle aged man that had no dignity when he sat in front of the class on a high stool. You could see everything, he would sit with his legs wide open, almost like he got off on having his vegetables on display! He was rumoured to be a paedophile but I don’t think anything was ever confirmed. He was certainly very fishy though.

One of the teachers had a heart attack and died in the classroom straight after taking a class.

There were a couple gang related deaths I can recall too.

PE teacher in a relationship with the secretary.

A teacher rumoured to be in a relationship with a pupil, came out fully after she left and they were dating.

Lots of teen pregnancies including one doing her exams while pregnant.

Definite smell of cannabis in the classrooms from various pupils.

A lad came to the school from a different one and there was lots of rumours as to why he had been expelled...peeing in the washing machine was my favourite.

My secondary school was just down the road from another rival secondary school. A few times there would be an announcement in class that pupils were not to be involved in an allegedly "planned" fight after the last class. Fights never happened but the rumours about them possibly happening would distract most students all day with various theories as to how many kids at the other school would be "waiting round the corner" to "jump" us 🤣

We had the same at ours. Once the staff warned everyone not to hang about in town after school one day, everyone ignored it and drew more attention that something was going off.

Huge gang of teens, nothing happened yet the police were called to move us along

I honestly don’t think anything that dramatic ever really happened at our school.. a couple of fights, a few drugs but nobody ever really got excluded.

There were a couple of teachers who were “having affairs” but pretty sure they were just young teachers who happened to meet someone at work.

There’s so many teachers who still teach there there now who when I was there 20 years ago were “ancient” 🤣 and several of those teachers having affairs are very much married.

One of our teachers ended up married to a 6th former… He was an NQT, she was upper 6th so actually if he wasn’t a teacher not unusual but it was scandalous when he took paternity leave and then showed us photos of his baby with her in them. Obviously she’d left long ago by that point

There was an Ice Cream van that would pull up outside the school at lunchtimes too, it was rumoured that he sold cannabis from it too. I personally can’t confirm though… it could have just been a rumour. I’ve heard the same rumour involving many ice cream vans tbh.

One of the history teachers (M) was having an affair with an IT teacher (F) and then got together, the IT teachers husband was also a teacher in the school and pupils used to take the piss about it to him which makes me feel quite sad now!
One of the chemistry teachers was sacked for being stoned all the time, apparently he would drive away from the school on breaks to smoke 😂

Crying reading these 😂

at primary school people started with that Bloody Mary thing where you say something in the mirror and a ghost comes out, spread like wildfire that the girls toilets were haunted and all the kids were freaking out, they had to do an assembly on it 😂😂

I was scared but still did this. Expected the ghost to pop up and get her vengeance.

I saw the mugshot of one of my classmates in the local paper a couple of years ago, drink and drug driving and caused a crash. It's very strange to recognise a face and name in that way.

Absolutely. In my case it was almost expected really. Two lads in my year attacked two police officers, smashed the police car up then set it alight. They were awful at school! They were excluded almost every week

The funniest rumour was when one of the staff got the norovirus and they had to close the canteen and get external caterers to bring in lunches. Rumours got worse as the day went on going from "the dinner lady was sick up the walls" through to "the dinner lady was sick in the lasagne and served it to Joe Bloggs in Year 10".

Also had the usual drug expulsions, teacher pupil affairs (two even had a kid together) and a stabbing too.

Then the pool attendant /swimming teacher turns out to be a nonce, worst school in Manchester , funny how it got knocked down and now the police headquarters are on the area.

There was a rumour that one of the drama teachers was a pweirdo. No idea how true it really was.

A student threw a chair at a teacher. He was in my year and was so quiet. Was so shocked when it happened.

Rumours about teachers having affairs too.
