What Makes You Feel Old? #2

There is an image of the Travelling WIlburys band, who seemed ancient at the time and included Roy Orbison and George Harrison, showing their ages and only one of them is (slightly) older than I am now.

And then I watch Lethal Weapon where Danny Glover was 41 when he was 'too old for this tit' and I want to throw my TV out of the window.

I am 38 now. I went past my old college a few months back and saw the students loitering around the college. It made me feel so old to realise that every student there hadn't been born when I started at college. I thought to myself "wtf, has it really been THAT long?" The time has passed so quick.

Jim bowen was 44 when he started bullseye and seemed like he was in his 70s then. My other half is 44 and dresses nothing like that, jeans, trainers, hoodies etc

I'm doing my first watch through of The Golden Girls in a long time and it's still a shock that they are not pensioners. It's the hair and clothing, especially the hair. They look so old.

What made me feel old was one of them saying she was 55... I'm going to be 43 in the coming weeks and 55 doesn't seem far away at all. I remember when even 50 was like this impossible age I could never imagine being.

Time and fashion are so weird.

And they never seemed to be short of 'dates' even Sophia. I loved The Golden Girls, great sitcom.
If my Mum ever got a bit snarky with me ... for whatever reason, all I had to do was say 'Shady Pines' and we both burst out laughing.

When I think back to what mums wore when I was at school it was all A line skirts and headscarves. When I was at primary school I vividly recall seeing an advert for jeans featuring an older lady with grey hair. I remember how shocked I felt at the time, then thought why shouldn't older ladies wear jeans? And here I am in my sixties still living in my skinny jeans.

When I first started work, anyone over the age of 50 usually wore tweed skirts & twinsets. One lady, also in her early 50s, always had a 'blue tint' in her perm. How times have (thankfully) changed!

I'm increasingly fond of Dorothy's exasperated "not now, ma!" when Sophia gets smart one time too many in that one episode.

It's crazy that even now TGG still comes across as progressive. Older woman with full work, social and healthy sex lives feel like a depressing rarity in today's media.

At work today , someone had information, someone else didnt so everyone was trying to get the full facts . I was like ' this isn't ceefax ' ... confused faces all around because noone knew what ceefax was

Matt Smith was billed as the youngest doctor ever and I think he was in his 30s?

I just looked it up . Matt was 26 when cast. I think he is 40 now.

Just randomly looked up when Lisa Marie Presley died cos I couldn't remember if it was this year or last year. Turns out it was 2023! How does time move so quickly!?

This was when I was relatively young. I was on a secondment and ended up working with the daughter of a colleague. Granted he was a good bit older than me, but it made me feel old.
