Social media 'friend' culture. Why are so many of us SM friends with people that we clearly do not give a duck about? Just to moan about how boring their posts are? Like, what do we expect - we literally do not care about them. Of course they will be boring.

If you're not interested in big stages of someone's life - like their wedding, their new house, or their baby, why have them as a SM friend at all? It's so weird how IRL you're not pushed to go out of your way to talk to people you don't care for, but on social media, people you haven't spoken to for years add you as a friend, meaning despite the fact you will never message each other or speak, you'll start seeing what this person is up to every day (vice versa). Then we feel bad for deleting this person that we wouldn't even smile at when passing them in the street, and who wouldn't greet us either, who we only think about to whinge about  so weird
I deleted my account after saying hello to someone in the high street who I am friends with on FB. She ignored me and I realised I was sharing private photos with a load of randoms. I deleted my account -it was the push I needed.

I really don’t know why but I hate it when people call people by their nickname/shortened name, but they hardly know the person. I just find it way too familiar. I very rarely call peoooe by their nicknames, I just can’t do it 😂

I work with a guy who does this all the time and it drives me crazy. He’ll shorten every name, Emma - Ems, Lisa - Lis, Frankie - Franks and they don’t even call themselves by the shortened version, it’s just him! I swear if someone was called Ant he’d shorten it to ‘A’. He also gives people nick names that they haven’t asked for so John would be John boy etc. He calls me J-dog which makes me cringe so hard as he thinks he’s really quirky for saying it 🙄

I cannot bring myself to say things like hun, hunni, chick, babes etc. I used to call my boyfriend mate now and again and he’d get really annoyed with me 😂

🤣🤣🤣 glad I’m not the only one
And I can’t bring myself to say hun etc either. It would just make me cringe but I have no issue with people saying it to me 😂

Same! A lot of friends call me those names and I have no problem with it at all but I cannot physically say it back. I’ve said it out loud to myself before when typing a message but I just cannot do it, it’s really not me 😂

I'm no longer on Facebook but when I was I had a rule that if I wouldn't stop and talk to you in the street and show you pictures of my kids, you wouldn't be on my Facebook 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have adopted the same rules for insta and snapchat and I swear by it! Couldn't give a tit if I offend anybody for ignoring their friend request either 😂

This is so so true. I remember years ago I was standing in a shop queue and one of my Facebook friends was standing in front of me. We saw each other but didn't even say hi. So even though I can see her new house, children, wedding pictures etc we don't even say hello in real life. I went home after that and deleted half of my 'friends' and funnily enough they never noticed or cared.

Those saft reels where people jump into a new outfit or mime along to something. Sorry but it makes me die a bit inside

Slimming world people who make a ‘fakeaway’ and actually serve it in little foil cartons or cardboard Chinese boxes. Put it on a bleeping plate and behave 🙄

There’s someone on my fb who keeps advertising their Photography business. I’m no expert on photography, but their photos look a bit ordinary to me, and it just makes me cringe for some reason seeing everyone blow smoke up their a when their photos don’t look professional.

I hate this! I know everyone has to start somewhere but some people seem to think having a camera instantly makes them a professional photographer. Wish they’d just call it a hobby and leave the real job to those who know what they’re doing 🤦🏻‍♀️

New thread here...
