What do you want to rant about today? #42

My nephew took in an England flag in school today over the victory of England's win last night
The headteacher binned them and called them racist
She won't complain because she's a cat
I hate this so much - one of my favourite school memories was going in late as we all got the morning off to watch England - we lost 🤣

Let kids be kids

I never watch normal TV, especially the "News".Unfortunately I am on holiday and it happened to be on in the background and I am actually crying and so very angry of what I have just heard and read. That poor baby Preston Davey it's actually made me feel physically sick and I cannot type what I actually want to on here. I am appalled, and so angry to hear the same old excuses and that "reviews and investigations" will be done. Too bleeping late now. Oldham again, wtf do these people in "authority" actually do . I am sickened
I’ve just seen a video on instagram that his foster father took. He’s smiling and giggling. Made me tear up and feel physically sick at what his adopted parents did to him.

They probably are, I just hope their fun isn't spoilt by a bashed head or speeding car.
I don’t at all blame you for being annoyed and concerned. It’s difficult to disengage your “responsible adult” brain and just let kids be kids when 1. you see the legitimate risks and 2. are aware that they’re not in sight of anyone who is responsible.

Not so much a rant, more of an irritated moan.

There are some boys playing in the street outside. I don't mind this so much, they're not being overly loud, and it's nice that they're away from screens.

However.
One of the boys lives 3 doors down, and his Grandad lives next door. Grandad has given them some bits of wood and they've made a ramp for their bikes and scooters, which they've placed outside our house, and they are riding up and down the footpath and onto the road. The speed limit on our street is 20mph, but there are plenty of idiots who ignore that. None of them are wearing a helmet, and one doesn't even have a shirt on. I'm sitting here waiting for an accident to happen, and I'm expecting to have to rescue an injured child and take them home. I don't even know for definite where the other 2 boys live.

Also, I don't know the ages of the other 2, but the boy who lives on this street has only just turned 6. It's impossible that either his Mum or Grandad can see him from their houses, so nobody is watching these kids. I personally feel that they're a bit young to be playing in the road with nobody watching.
Anyone who let's their kid on a bike or scooter without a helmet is irresponsible.

We've had builders in doing some work. Was meant to be 4 weeks, were now on week 6 as other trades have let them down. I'm at home most days so have been offering drinks, biscuits and even made bacon buttys a few times or grabbed them something like a sausage roll if I've nipped out (3 of them).

Uber eats turned up at the door at lunch today- they'd ordered a McDonald's (for all of them)and not one thought to ask me if I wanted anything. Told them as much as well and said they can make their own tea and coffee tomorrow. They laughed it off but I'm not going to be so accommodating tomorrow
Good for you

More of a AITA?

There's a big backstory to this, but would you be upset if your gran had been giving your cousins a few hundred £s week and you got nothing? But the worst thing is your own father is the one getting the money from the bank to give to them and he's lied about it? I have proof this has been happening for years (it amounts to 10s of thousands)
It's not the money, it's the fact that I've been lied to, and my grandparents always openly favoured my cousins and have indulged them all their lives (time, energy, school pick-ups, sleepovers, holidays, gifts etc and I was lucky if they just took an interest in me when I visited). My dad has said for years that because we're not part of that *named* family we will never get a look in. So why would he help her do this?
I'd feel betrayed tbh. More so if my dad had been enabling it. Sorry you're going through this ❤

This makes me angry because every other country is allowed to fly their flag for their team, but no, English = racist apparently 🤢 i don't think it's a good idea teaching kids that they are racist for supporting their football team. What effed up thinking that is. No wonder young boys grow up pissed off if they are told from they off that white English boys are all evil and stupid etc. 🤢

I bet Iranian and Iraqi fans can fly their flag in this country with no intervention...

At least Sainsbury's had England flags yesterday instore. I was actually surprised they dared.

What the Hell is the obsession with squishies? Is it a TikTok thing?

We've had a load sent into the store I work in and I'm sick of the groups of kids spending ages messing around with them, as well as all the ones that are being stolen or destroyed.

Even the ones we're actually selling will all be in the bin once the trend dies in a few weeks/months.

I’ve no idea what a squishy is but I read that as squashies and wondered why they would be messing round with sweets but then I’m a greedy piggy when it comes to sweets so probably says more about me 😂

They're like plastic/rubber toys with gel in that you squeeze or "squish" and they either bounce back or slowly go back into shape. Weird things tbh. Although quieter than fidget toys at least.

Kids do mess around with sweets, as well, though!

My middle granddaughter is obsessed with squishmallows - she's got about 30 of them in varying sizes. My daughter has banned us from buying her any more :ROFLMAO: and she's got loads of the sticky/squishy gel toys as well. They're allowed them in school apparently as it can be a form of self-soothing...

I'm seriously pissed off as our kids have decided to entertain Dad at home on Sunday by means of a BBQ. I've just had to order an extra food shop but if they think I'm doing any of it they've got another thing coming. He does duck all for me on mother's day ever, so I'm not giving him a happy disney dad day thanks all the same.

I've decided to go tonight when it's cooler. I think it's the humidity that gets me as I've been in dry heat and been fine.

Not a rant for a change, but I know they get alot of stick, Drs receptionists, I spoke to one 3 weeks ago, she wasn't very nice, spoke to a different one this morning, complete opposite, she was lovely and actually arranged for a Dr to call me, which she did! Why can't they all be like that.
