Have you thought about something like Jane plan? It’s expensive but it means all your meals are ready and delivered to you. Might give you the kick you need.

Haven't had it myself but my brothers MIL has had it plus his BIL an honestly it's done nothing to either of them, both are just as heavy as they always were, they got a gastric band an I believe both regret it being that they can no longer eat the same as they did but are not losing weight, am not saying this will happen but somtimes it's worth thinking about what happens when it doesn't work an would you be happy if that was the case especially if its somthing that cannot be reversed

I am curious though of why Turkey, has the NHS not helped? Both of them were done by the NHS, I'd honestly question why it's only 2k in Turkey, somtimes cheap isn't as great as it sounds

Hi I had this I've lost 8 stone but I'm still losing weight and my BMI is now 23. I wanted the upper end of healthy BMI so I wouldn't have lots of skin. I can't eat enough to keep my weight up as I was never a grazer. It was huge portions like once a day. I take all the multi vitamins and I drink complan but half the time I feel a bit weak. I get hypoglycemia I'm not diabetic I actually fell down the stairs and whacked my head due to to it. It takes me longer to get over illnesses than it used too and my immune system is worse. I feel healthier in a lot of ways but worse in others . It's not a quick fix it changes your whole life and I'd advise people to fully research it properly.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you all for your advise. I am feeling a bit more positive today. I am going to enjoy Christmas then try calorie counting and exercise in the new year again. xx
Hiya,

would you consider doing the Cambridge diet? There’s a couple of us over on that thread who are starting in January. I need to lose a substantial amount too so come on over and join in if you fancy it x

My neice has just had bariatric surgery in Turkey. The care she received was fantastic, she has no complications or issues. She had surgery on 27/12 and has lost over a stone since then. If she has any queries, she can access after care and ask them, they reply very quickly.

My neice read up a lot before she decided on her surgeon and joined lots of discussion groups on Facebook, which were really helpful.

She could have had the surgery here, she was a candidate but the waiting list for NHS treatment is about 18mths and she couldn't wait that long. If she opted for private treatment here it would have been four times the price she paid.

I use the Myfitness pal app on my phone and it really helps me lose weight. It's free and you log everything you eat. You can scan food packaging and save recipes to save you logging all the ingredients every time. Once you log your current weight and target (I went for losing 1 pound per week) it tells you how many calories a day you can have. There's also an online forum you can chat to other people, share recipes, tips etc. It's definitely worth a try. It makes you so aware of what you are eating and how the calories can quickly add up

I went to my GP about 4 years ago- he made me tick 5 boxes a piece of paper, told me I was depressed and sent me away with anti depressants for a week! I got the impression he didn’t take me seriously at all!

it seems so cheap in Turkey.

maybe I am being stupid, I don’t know. I just feel desperate tonight.

Hi I knew they’d be a Tattle thread about this!! Just wanted to jump in here as I’m so depressed about my weight. Last night I started looking up about gastric sleeves etc and now I’m thinking I just need to focus and eat well and follow something that is going to work for me. I’m too scared to go under the knife really and my BMI is 34 atm. I think I’m just scared that this is it for me just getting fatter and fatter every week until I’m the size of my mum with T2diabetes etc 😔. @PinkMariner did you decide re: surgery?
My BMI was 34 when sleeved x

People who have had surgery done privately, please would you mind answering a few questions?

Who did you use?
How long was the waiting time?
When did you have your surgery?
How much did it cost?
What was recovery like?

Looking into it and would love as much info as possible.

Alternatively, people who have had surgery on the NHS, please could you advise how long the waiting time was?

This takes me back to how I used to feel. At my biggest, I was a size 24, around 18 months ago, I decided enough was enough. I was so unhealthy, always binging, grabbing convenience foods, eating big share bars to myself in one sitting. I have a young son, I knew I didn't want to risk dying young because of my health. I was so unfit, I'd walk up a small hill and be gasping for breath so I started walking for 20-30 minutes every day, come rain or shine. I started calorie counting, 3 meals a day, only snacking on fruit, crackerbreads, nuts, low fat yoghurts and jelly when I have a sweet tooth, every single Saturday, I'll have a takeaway and a bar of chocolate, this kept me on track with something to look forward too. My energy levels are so good now, I found the first 2 weeks the hardest but by week 3, I genuinely felt so much better and that feeling gave me the motivation to carry on. I'm now a size 16, aiming for a size 12. It's never been about the numbers on the scale for me. I was so lazy beforehand but honestly, it's the best thing I've ever done. A friend of mine had a gastric band abroad and has had nothing but problems, but another of my friends had the sleeve in Turkey and hasn't really suffered any major after affects and has lost 5st in quite a short period of time. Its something you really have to work with, it's not a miracle cure. Weight loss is hard however you decide to do it, I read the quote, losing weight is hard, being fat is hard, choose your hard and that resonated with me. Good luck. X
Sorry you posted this a while ago but may you please give a few examples of lunch and dinners you eat? I'm lazy with cooking too and have no inspiration for healthy meals.

I'm a size twenty at the moment and hoping to go back to my pre baby weight of 14/16. Definitely going to follow your tips and start walking more and just healthy snacks.

Ive laid off the chocolate for a while but Easter hasn't been kind to me and I can't help it. Too much choc in the house! Really hoping to wean myself off it again

Oh bless, I get your frustration but it really is about eating less and moving more. I don’t say that any way to be patronising because it’s bloody hard when you step on a scale and just want it gone. The only advice I can give is meal planning, taking all of your favourite foods and adapting them so that they’re healthier and sticking with it. Please be careful having weight loss surgery as it’s not a quick fix, because you’ll be limited on what you can and can’t eat. My father in law was big and had a stomach bypass, he’s now in hospital weighing less than a child because he can’t absorb any nutrients from food and very little hope of getting better. I’m sure it 100% does work for some people, and has done wonderful things, just make sure you really consider all options and the implications. He had his surgery within the EU, somewhere very reputable with great after care, but he’s really struggling at the moment. I wish you nothing but luck in whatever option you choose. Loosing weight is easy, it’s keeping it off that’s the hard part as it just needs to be part of your life. Best of luck to you lovely x

I’ve answered your questions next to them if that makes sense x
Apologies if you're not looking abroad. I had a RNY bypass, I've lost 8 stone, currently confortable to wear size 14 (jeans, with no stretch 🙈🤣) best decision I ever made, wish I'd done it years ago
Thank you both for your replies - really appreciate it!

If you don't mind me asking, what was your BMI/or weight before you had the surgery please?

Hi, in terms of lunch I'll usually have soup, salads with chicken breast or ham, I'll have pasta occasionally with tuna and salad, depending on what work shift I'm on. I tend to have less calories with breakfast and dinner and more for my evening meal so I'm satisfied going to bed as I would tend to binge eat in the evenings. For dinner, I'll have things such as fajitas, jacket potatoes, gammon steaks, I follow recipes online from the good food BBC website aswell, I'm not the best cook but I'm learning. I usually have eggs in the morning. I just had to change the way in which I was eating and its crazy how small changes can really help shift the weight. I have so much energy now, even after working a 10 hour shift and running around after my son, I sleep so well and jump out of bed in the mornings. I'm also quite bad when it comes to chocolate but I didn't get loads in for easter like I usually would and it helped that my son didn't want many eggs and rathered me buy him some clothes lol. Good luck x

Hi!

Who did you use? Mr Mannur London independent clinic
How long was the waiting time? 1 month
When did you have your surgery? May
How much did it cost? £9750
What was recovery like? I was back to working 12 hour shifts after 9 days! If I had the choice I’d have taken the whole 2 weeks off just to rest! Felt more energy by week 4 and then by 2-3months when I switched my multivit to forceval I felt completely like my old self even more energy! My BMI has gone from 41 to 28, I’ve lost 5 and a half stone! The first 4 weeks were horrendous but once you get used to the mental aspect of it it is the best thing ever. I’d never have lost this on my own it is the greatest thing I’ve ever done for myself! But be prepared for the first 4 weeks they are tough, after that it is bliss!
hi, amazing results well done! Can you please link what Forceval you take x
