I have found my people! 😀 We've just booked our wedding for Sept 2023 - We are having a church wedding, followed by a Village Hall Reception! We want it to be like 40's Wedding Decor - Bunting, Flowers... Street Party type table set up!

Songs I'm thinking of... You are My Sunshine (By Chris & Morgane Stapleton) - Lucky Man by the Verve when we walk back up the aisle and our entrance to Wedding Venue will be You & Me by The Wannadies!

However, we all know these things may alter as we go along! 🤣

What about 1st dance Songs Ladies? 👰🏽‍♀️

Ah that one is slightly cliche for my fiance and I, were having say you won't let go by James Arthur

Before our first dance though, I'm surprising my fiance by singing for him, he loves my singing, I used to sing in choir and a band but a horrible ex knocked my confidence, so haven't sang in front of groups of people since. My fiance bought me a guitar and microphone to try and get me to record and everything.
Before we got engaged he said if one thing was going to make him cry it would be if I sang in front of him and our family and friends because it would show just how much I loved him because he knows the thought terrifies me.
So I'm singing Remember us this way by lady gaga from a star is born. Its a movie we love to watch together and it was the first song I sang in front of him.

I love this so much! And he will too ❤

Oh I’m so glad I found this thread!
We’re getting married July 2022, a church wedding and then reception in a country hotel all in our little town where we met and now live together in.
I’ve booked the venues (got a really good package with the hotel for all the food, drinks, DJ, bridal suite etc.) photographer, hair, makeup and got the dress!
Really want a videographer but going to see how much the budget can stretch first 🤞🏻
Making my own cake eek 😬 and going to diy as much as possible!
We’re just stuck on the guest list we really need to go back over it as can only have 75 guests in the day and it soon adds up once you add plus ones, plus I would much rather have more of my friends There than family we never talk to or see 🥴

How many venues did you guys go to look at? I have 5 viewings booked and thinking about one more but not sure if I'm going a bit hard :ROFLMAO:

Booked the first one we went to we knew it was the one we wanted before we even viewed it 😆

We booked the first one, it was everything we were looking for, however, typical it was the most expensive 🙈

My rules for cutting down my list were:
Have you seen them within the last year / six months (depending on how strict you want to be)?
Would you willingly take them out for tea and spend £80 (or whatever the cost of your meal per head is) on just their food?
Would you spend time with them in normal social circumstances?
Do you actually enjoy their company? Or are they just a "well they invited me theirs/well they're your cousin" type of invite?

I didn't invite anyone outside of my direct, immediate family (my dad and my sister), my husband invited 2 sets of aunts/uncles and 1 cousin, ours was mainly a party for our friends who we actually enjoy spending time with!

We looked at 2 “proper” venues, hated them both… rethought our plans, realised we actually could get married in the place I had always dreamed of. Went to the venue for a tour, but it was really just a formality as we knew it was “the one”

This is great thank you, someone has also said to me just choose people who send you birthday and Christmas cards!

I'm not inviting a friend because he rocked up at mural friends very extravagant wedding with not even a card. Never thanked her, ungrateful sod. Besides haven't seen him for ages. She was hurt and I know id be livid

I'm getting married next August, so glad to have found this thread!
Another thing I've found useful for guestlist planning is 'would I be upset/offended if I wasn't invited to their wedding'

My partner and I are paying for the wedding ourselves. We have a little boy. He has a 3 yeR old nephew and 1 year old niece and I have a niece on the way currently. My mums trying to say we can't have those kids and then say to everyone else no children, my response was "watch me" 😂 sorry I don't like anyone else's kids enough to pay £30 for them to come to my wedding and a lot of the kids in my family, to put it bluntly, are little people

I’m doing this. My niece is coming and that’s it. Your wedding you do what you want!

I’m having major wobbles about our “2nd wedding” (ceremony and reception for all our guests who couldn’t come this year). It’s going to cost about £15k 😬 and whilst that’s money we had aside for it it’s making me baulk thinking of spending that amount on basically a party.

I wanted this and then all hell broke lose and I got “well no one who has kids will come and their parents (my aunts and uncles) won’t come either” and when I took anyone related to an under 14 off the guest list it went down to 35 from 90….

We visited 3. I had more booked but we knew the first was the one so cancelled the rest.

Our guest list went a bit mental. My parents in law to be want to invite everyone they’ve ever met. I ended up having to tell them if they wanted people to come they could pay for them. They actually did 😂

See my mum said this and I just went fine if people won't come just because I don't invite their kids and they gave to get a babysitter, then they don't care enough anyway. Plus saves me 90 a head then 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have very little patience for family members that feel entitled towards my wedding.
