Thank you both! We cant attend together (kids/work!), so im assuming its fine to go separately
We were interviewed separately so I don’t see that there would be an issue. If your partner is like mine and has no idea of the actual detail of the wedding (ie what time the ceremony is) I’d recommend you going before he does as they asked partner 1 for the details then just checked with partner 2 for us

Yeah, I'm going first so at least i'll have all the info! 😂

Am I right in saying, if you both hold British passports, then you just need to take your passport and driving license to the meeting? I’ve read the info so many times, but I’m paranoid about getting it wrong😂!

We aren’t allowed to book our appointment until July (we get married in October) so I don’t want to mess it up when we do get there.

My other half remembers the details of the wedding better than I do, so no issues there… BUT even though he knows my DOB, if you ask him my age he would have to take a few minutes 😂

mine is absolutely convinced my birthday is 3 days earlier than it actually is… registrar laughed at me when I said “it’s [date] but he will tell you it’s [other date]”

I’m pretty sure we just took passports, although I don’t know if it varies between local authorities. My interview was much less probing than my sister’s was with a different Local authority

What’s everyone doing for guestbooks? I’m torn between doing a Polaroid guestbook or getting everyone to sign a square of fabric and turning them into a quilt!

I’ve got one of those frame things where you sign a heart and put it in the slot

Does anyone else have fears of having hardly any guests at the wedding?
I have 13 cousins, who mostly all have partners & children. Altogether there’s nearly forty people there, but hardly any of them ever turn up for family events!
Most of the christenings and weddings I’ve been to, hardly any of our family have even been there!
Now I’ve also found out an auntie might be on holiday when it’s the wedding!🙄

My partner has a tiny family and we don’t exactly have a large friendship group, so there’s not going to be loads of people there really…

Does it matter? We have about 30-33 in the day and we are inviting about an extra 75 to the night. I reckon in total, if basically none of my family come, then there will be like 60 guests at the night do… 😂

We have 8 guests 🤣

as long as you have people who you love, and the day you want I don’t think it matters. Unless your venue has minimum numbers?

Could you ask some of the evening guests to come in the day too to make up numbers?

If anymore of the day guests drop out, then we would probably do that! I don’t mind 30-35 in the day too much as it is pricey per guest & I don’t want loads of people watching me walk up the aisle!😂

I love that, if I could have gotten away with just a couple then I would have done actually! 😂

That’s very true! Our minimum is 30 day & 60 evening, so it’s not too bad I guess! I just need to stop worrying what people think about me 😂 I don’t want people saying, “Oo she hasn’t had many turn up has she?” I don’t know why I care, it’s silly 😂

About 15 minutes. I was surprised they interviewed us separately. I could hear my husband to be getting my year of birth wrong from outside the door 🙈😂
I think that’s a perfect number. Will give you time to speak to everyone and you’ll know that everyone there matters to you. I don’t want cousins and aunties I never see there. Would prefer small and intimate. Your wedding will be perfect I’m sure

I think covid has really helped to normalise smaller weddings. I went to a couple last summer before the restrictions eased, and before we were engaged and I remember thinking at one of them how if we ever got engaged I was so glad that smaller weddings were becoming a thing

That’s a good point actually! It’s probably more and more common now to have a few guests!

I actually had a cheeky cousin ask me why he wasn’t invited to the ceremony😱 had to explain that it’s expensive and we are keeping it small!🤣
