Just finished episode 1 and it dragged soo much I was so bored.
It could be the shittest thing ever I'll still lap it up and rewatch it over and over. Looking forward to watching it tonight, ngl I've forgotten so many of the characters though.

Having so few episodes with such a big gap between really doesn't work.

I also think they've made the school too cohesive, with the exception of the new football student all of the characters seem to agree with each other with little controversy, any minor falling out is settled within the episode.

It all just seems quite slow in comparison to the old seasons, which seemed to have some season long plots and plenty of smaller plots. Now it's a couple of long plots that seem drawn out to the point you lose interest.

Watched the first episode last night, and like others have said, it dragged.

The thing that annoys me the most is how it just doesn’t properly resemble a modern day school. Where are the school governors? Why isn’t it an academy like 90% of today’s secondary schools are? Even in last night’s episode, the teacher just dumped a practice essay on his students without forewarning them a few lessons prior. That simply doesn’t happen in a modern day school. Why do none of the teachers seem to specialise in a specific subject? Today, unless a school is poorly funded, you don’t get a history teacher filling in for a PE teacher. Why isn’t there a designated student support department? Students today can’t just skip class and leave school grounds. Also you can’t just take students out of their classes for a charity football match like we witnessed in last night’s episode. Headteachers can’t just swing by your house either.

Even the children don’t properly resemble modern day teenagers but just adopt the stereotypes associated with Gen Z that are portrayed in the media. This “Free Danny Lewis” bollocks simply wouldn’t happen in a school because today’s generation aren’t anywhere near as morally righteous as the media likes to portray. Why are all the kids a part of the assemble cast portrayed as gobby, badly-behaved and low attaining?

As viewers why aren’t we learning more about these characters? For example, what subjects do they struggle in and whether or not they’ll be able to attain the grades they wish? At this point, it feels like the school is merely a set piece because it bares no relevance to any of the plot lines.

Quite a lot of what you said isn’t true lol I only left school last year and teachers do cover lessons I had a music teacher for re for a full year lol

And if you watch the other episodes there’s a meeting with governors quite a few times

We had charity football matches a few times a year wasn’t a big deal

And teachers did come to your house not offer but it did happen

If you haven’t been to school in the last few years then you obviously wouldn’t understand but it genuinely is what schools are like lol

This never happened in my school but the Educating series on Channel 4, one of the poorer areas had staff going to kids houses everyday to make sure they got to school

I don't know whether it's a hangover from filming with covid restrictions but a lot of the scenes feel a bit lacking in noise and atmosphere - I might be mis-remembering a bit, but I'm sure the old series' had loads more extras in the background, lots more noise, and felt a bit more like a school

I'm quite enjoying it though but some of the storylines are a bit boring. The teenage actors are really impressive though - they put some of the wooden adult actors to shame

Don't get me started on the teachers at my school... one had us cover his lovebites when he was hungover; another was an incredibly angry chap who raged at us; the third was a mean fool who always stank of coffee and soup; the fourth remains someone who belongs out of my mind; the fifth a dear supply lady with a walking stick; the sixth a Language teacher, who made me laugh during my speaking exam (but it was mutual giggles)

We had drama teachers teaching Technology

Two deputies fornicated in the lift of the new building - to be later sacked

And the invisible headteacher was shortly thereafter sacked off

I don’t think you’ve remembered wrong. That’s how I remember it too.
This doesn’t feel like a real school

Appreciate the Mika mention in ep3 but they literally got married after school on a random day, we saw it all and she wasn't throwing up 😭😭

I actually enjoyed this series but maybe it’s because I’m still on the wave of excitement about it being back 🤷‍♀️

The 2 boys that are fostered by the deputy and police man - the actor playing the older one literally looks about 35 , terrible casting imo.
