Can anyone recommend a survival type game please? I've googled but a lot are zombie based which isn't what I'd like. I just want a game where you have to build your own shelter, fish/hunt for food, explore an open world etc. Probably sounds boring but I love playing off grid in the sims 4 so wondered if there was something similar.
I have xbox, ps4, switch, gaming laptop and my phone. Thanks 😊
Not boring at all I really enjoy these kinds of games.

Ive not played it yet myself, but Survivalists sounds right up your street. I think it’s on every platform including mobile.

Subnautica, didn’t play it for terribly long I admit, but it might be worth a look.

I’m currently playing Horizon:Zero Dawn and it’s such a fun game. Annoyingly challenging in places (trying to kill Redmaw🤯) but really fun and satisfying. Can’t wait for the next game.

If you like dinosaurs try Ark: Survival Evolved :D It's open world, super pretty, has all the base building and survival stuff but also the world is full of dinosaurs (which you can tame and ride around or use them to help you gather food/materials for your shelter).

This is how good it is:

Wow! I was actually looking at this game when I was on steam, and I do like dinosaurs. Might have to have another look. Think it's on playstation now too.
Thank you.

Thank you, will look at survivalists. I looked at subnautica, just wasn't sure I fancied playing underwater.
My problem is I'm crap at shooting/killing things 🤣 so many games look good but I think id be rubbish, get frustrated then rage quit lol.

I played Subnautica for about two hours and then something big and bitey in the water scared the rit out of me and I never went back to it 😂

Finally got all the stars, stamps and top of flags in super Mario 3d land and opened up the crown stages 😁

Now the last mystery house and champions road will probably take me a good year of trying a few minutes a day to complete, just like the mario Odyssey super dark side of moon 😬

I might be better to admit defeat and watch a video of it instead 🤣

Been playing the Witcher 3 again and wow what a game. It still holds up despite being a few years old now. The way the quests work and how so many things can influence and change what happens in the story is mind blowing. It’s so easy to miss content so this time I’m using a guide online to play it in a way that I get the most content possible, been really fun so far doing things in a different order to how I usually do. It’s a phenomenal game, anyone disappointed with Cyberpunk and hasn’t given Witcher 3 a go absolutely must.

I picked up Buddy Simulator 1984 on Steam as it was on sale

Was drawn in by the reviews and the horror tag. While it’s not the most terrifying thing out there or really horror, I will say it has a very good creepy vibe. Genuinely had to turn it off at the start when it was dark

Fantastic game. I’ve just finished playing the main game and all the DLC. Rushed to get the storyline finished so my OH could take the PlayStation away with him (he’s had to move) but I still have so many side quests from the last DLC to pick up. I reckon I’ve played around 180 hours and still have loads from that last DLC to do.

The dlc is amazing! They are more like entirely new games rather than just dlc. I can’t believe the effort they put into them. Toussaint is just a beautiful setting.

Yes Toussaint is beautiful! I took so many screen captures. I still have whole unexplored areas of Toussaint despite finishing the main storyline.

I play wargames and strategy games. Mostly turn-based like Field of Glory 2. I also play Total War games especially Napoleon. For action, the only game I play right now is War Thunder.

Football Manager is good. I also bought John Madden Football recently which I remembered from playing as a kid!

I'm currently attempting to complete red dead redemption 2 to 100%. I love the game so much and I don't want it to end so this is a way to drag it out and make sure I'm experiencing as much of it as I can!

I also bought the Mafia 2 remastered edition in the PlayStation sale so that is next on my list I think. I played it when it came out originally on,the xbox 360 and its one of my favourite games. I've heard the remaster is a bit buggy but I hope it'll be OK!

I feel like it's been a while since there was a really amazing game out. I miss that feeling of playing a game that just blows you away. RDR2 was the last game that did that for me.

I feel like when they just pop up on game pass they aren’t as exciting either. I liked the pre order waiting for the postman to arrive feeling #old

I’m really looking forward to Halo Infinite and the return of split screen multiplayer 🎉

I'm thinking about giving RDR2 a go. We have it for our Playstation but I've not played it yet - watched the OH play it a lot though. I'm not great with aiming and shooting in games, so not sure how I'll get on!

Anyone play Cyberpunk 2077? Couldn't wait when it first came out, but it looked and played like complete a on the PS4 and I was so gutted (not enough to stop playing it tho lol).

Managed to bag a PS5 and am now on my third playthrough (streetkid this time, better than the other paths).

Things I like; it finally looks good! Still glitchy now and then but I've played worse (hi Fallout 3!). The characters are pretty well written and I like the different combat styles (much prefer hacking to melee tho).

Not too keen on; gratuitous nudity! I mean, I guess Projeckt Red set themselves up for that after all the relentless a-shots in Witcher III, but it's soooo unnecessary and reeks of pen pandering. Oh and they bumped off my favourite character. RIP choom 😭

Might go back to Mass Effect Legendary after this playthrough, or start that free game...Plague Tale? Bit of a downer in current climes though. Shooting reapers prob less scary!

There is auto aim on rdr2 and I’m pretty sure you can adjust the settings to your liking so you should be fine! It’s pretty easy to get the hang of and the dead eye skill helps a lot!

I get so excited when people play rdr2 for the first time. You are in for a real treat!

I still haven’t played Cyberpunk. It’s definitely one I want to give a go at some point (although nudity in video games is so cringe imo). Just not really in any rush.

Has anyone read heard the rumours about Rockstar remaking/remastering (it’s not clear which) the GTA Trilogy from the ps2 games? I’m really excited for that! I’m hoping they do a red dead redemption 1 remake at some point too. Literally all I want in life😂

I will be honest it did take me a while to get into red dead 2. Red dead redemption 1 is one of, if not my favourite, games of all time.. I just found number 2 slow in comparison but I really started getting into it chapter 3 or 4 and now I'm obsessed! Will recommend it to anyone, the character development and story telling is incredible as well as the insane detail in the world.

Yeah I definitely think there needs to be a big game soon! I actually think rdr2 was the last game I preordered. I would love any new rockstar game or a Mafia game, I wanted to try cyberpunk and also watch dogs legion (loved the first 2 watch dogs, especially the 2nd one) but to be honest the reviews of both put me off.

@Bitofthebubbly i did hear that! I swear you can already get the gta triology on the ps4 store which I assumed was a remaster but I guess that is just a port of the originals. I had always been meaning to pick that up too but alot of reviews mentioned it didn't play well at all and to leave it in the past. I would rather they put the effort into a new rockstar game but I wouldn't be too upset and would still end up getting it. I have fond memories of playing gta 3 and vice City but I never finished the story as I found it too hard when I was younger so would be good to go back and actually finish it! San Andreas was one of the first games I would play regularly.

I want to go back and play Red dead redemption 1 again after I eventually finish rdr2 but I'm worried it won't be as good as I remember it or something. Don't want to ruin the nostalgia and memories I have for that game! I remember after I completed it I literally just sat in silence for a while. The first time I'd been so invested in a game and the characters. That's why it's so crazy seeing some of the characters and some of the same locations in red dead 2. Gives me chills

Yeah it can take a while to get into rdr2 at first, it feels like you have so many npc’s to learn the names of but the game does a good job of introducing them to you via missions and stuff imo. The movement can take a bit of getting used to I think. My partner struggled with it to begin with because it does feel different to other games, but now he’s trying to get 100%.

I have rdr&undead nightmare on my Xbox1, it does still hold up to be fair, but you can only buy a copy of the game for Xbox. Theres no pc or ps4 version unless you want to stream on psnow. So I still wouldn’t say no to rdr with rdr2 graphics and some added content. Unfortunately my xbox1 isn’t reading discs so I need to take it to get repaired before I can play it again.

Yeah they have ported the old gta games to various platforms, even mobile. But they just don’t run all that great really. I am looking forward to the new versions tbf, I do love a remake and I hope that’s what they turn out to be rather than a remaster but either way I’ll be buying them probably.

Rockstar are also bringing out a new ‘expanded and enhanced’ version of gta5 for next gen consoles. I mean that’s great but where the duck is gta6???? I love rockstar but bleeping hell they take ages to do anything and milk certain franchises for all they can get.

There’s so many new games in the works, but they’re all getting delayed😂

As for ‘big game’ releases, didn’t The Last of Us 2 come out last year? That is one phenomenal game. Doesn’t beat rdr2 for me but it’s really close. Would recommend, although I felt so emotionally done by the time I’d finished it😅

Yeah I agree. I think that once I've completed it 100% I will probably go back and replay it and just focus on the main story. I have a friend that's completed it 6 times haha.

I think im going to have to replay rdr1. Can't say I've only played my favourite of all time once! And yeah I wouldn't say no to a remaster at All, love all rockstar games really so would never say no to improved versions! I wonder if they will make another red dead game at some point. I really hope so.

And yeah what is with gta v! It's nearly 10 years old now, no game needs that many remasters/ editions, just crack on with the next one haha. I did enjoy the story of gta v though. I completed that to 100% during lockdown 1 and realised there were a fair few extra missions I hadn't done!

Oh, of course - the last of us 2! I got the last of us 1 with my ps4 a few years back and still haven't touched it. One of my friends favourite games and she keeps telling me to get on with playing it but I just haven't 😂 maybe I should get on with that next haha. At least by the time I finish it the last of us 2 should be a bit cheaper!

Definitely give the last of us series a go. It’s usually not my kind of genre. I don’t really like horror or scary stuff but everyone was saying how awesome it was so I picked up the first game a few years back and whilst it has its scary/tense moments it’s not as bad as I thought and the story is so good.

Speaking of remasters I really want to pick up Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1&2. Loved those games growing up and the new version looks awesome.

RDR3 would probably come out in about 30 years. About 5 years after GTA6 gets released.
