Been playing the Witcher 3 again and wow what a game. It still holds up despite being a few years old now. The way the quests work and how so many things can influence and change what happens in the story is mind blowing. It’s so easy to miss content so this time I’m using a guide online to play it in a way that I get the most content possible, been really fun so far doing things in a different order to how I usually do. It’s a phenomenal game, anyone disappointed with Cyberpunk and hasn’t given Witcher 3 a go absolutely must.

Ooh great thread. I love gaming when I get the chance. I think I prefer indie games these days although when I was younger it was Mario, Crash Bandicoot and Sonic.

Recent favourites have been Lost Ember, Spirit of the North and Alba on the Switch. I'm currently navigating Bunhouse on Steam but I don't like the controls. I'm also looking forward to Wholesome:Out and About by Yaldi games especially as its a Scottish production. The release date has been pushed back again though. My favourite mobile game was Plantopia but its been discontinued Murder In The Alps is pretty decent too although the latest chapter was underwhelming. I'd love to see more nature based games become available in the future.

Over the years we’ve had a Wii and a Wii U, with all the sporting interactive gadgets, that was fun. Now we have a Switch and there’s been loads of Mario games on it also. It’s amazing how they’ve evolved, the graphics are stunning now. Our son likes Animal Crossing.

Years ago I played an Aliens game, that was very memorable, with atmospheric music (PlayStation?) and I dimly recall a Phantasy Star adventure game, on a Megadrive? I think we had a Dreamcast once as well.

I really bloody miss world of warcraft sometimes. I've only got a mac book air now as my ex took my gaming PC when she split up a few years back my mac book will technically run it but tbh I just don't have as much time to spend on it now. But boy do I miss those 16 hour days on it.

I've dabbled in games all throughout my life though. My favourite growing up was Tony hawk, I was bloody mint at those games would pay good money to get my hands on a ps2 and my old Tony hawk games!

I haven't played a console for about 5 years. I really would like to get back into gaming again. When I eventually get a chance to buy the ps5 I will. I look forward to the new Elder Scrolls coming next year apparently. The new horizon looks good too.

I’m excited for it! Let’s just hope it receives better treatment than GTAO and RDR2 are getting right now. Since last July, RDR2 has had no updates and GTAO has had 2 (the last one wasn’t even an update, just a few overdue / positive changes made). I wouldn’t care if they just came out and said they are busy working on GTA6. It’s the lack of communication with fans that annoys me.

Oh God yes, I quicksave every 30 seconds or so! Just started chapter 7. I've got Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights to look forward to after this

You'll have to update me with your thoughts on them, as I've not played those before either! I think they've all been ported to switch now.

I'm hoping playing Baldurs Gate will help understand how the other games work too. Even on easy mode for my first playthrough I've really struggled at times.

I'm having a whale of a time now that my mage has a full team though, with my character levelling up and more targets for enemies to attack instead of my squishy self, I'm not dying so much or at low health after every battle.

I'm currently going through these maps like a bull in a China shop and absolutely screwing everything up, hope your game is going more successfully!

Spoiler: a very long explanation of the mess I've made so far

I didn't know people would get upset if you went into their homes and started taking things out of the boxes and chests and barrels. The containers weren't marked red or anything, but with hindsight it does seem rather obvious. I think the game expected me to be smarter than this

Guards were called. They declined my generous bribe and issued me with a death sentence - for ONE petty theft. There didn't even seem to be an option to give the necklace or whatever it was that I took back!

I tried to leave the house but it was too late, my teammates had absolutely destroyed the poor guards within seconds. Easy difficulty meant they never stood a chance I guess.

Now for some reason the rest of the team is mad at ME?! They keep sniping at me and Khalid even said something like "oh [only recently dead foster father] would be so disappointed in you." Which I thought was rather a low blow.

My Gorian is DEAD. Please leave me alone.

The moral high horse here is admittedly more of a moral Shetland pony, but I was the bigger person and decided not to murder Khalish mate. I did think about it, but his girlfriend is the team's healer, and I feel like killing him would probably cause some issues with her.

No longer feeling welcome in civilisation, I decided to take the gang on a team bonding trip through the wilderness where hopefully we would find some people to help and they would all start to like me again.

The 2nd most important character in the franchise promptly ran into a basilisk, who turned her to stone and then shattered her statue. Rest in pieces Imoen. Can't wait to see how they cope with this in baldurs gate 2, since I hear she's kind of a big deal.

I went to Durlags tower thinking that was where the story wanted me to go next as they mentioned a fort. Bloody hell. I kept dying and dying and dying. Ended up giving in and googling it, only to learn this place has nothing to do with the main story and and is actually high level content for later on, so backwards I went (setting off all the traps again). We got the hell out of there and took ourselves off to Cloakwood.

My reputation is 5 at the moment, up from 3. I don't know if that is high enough for guards to leave me alone now, and I'm worried if I go into town to check my teammates will just kill more guards if they turn hostile, wrecking our rep again. I usually play a goody two shoes in games so I'm not used to being hated at least my grieving for Imoen is over now that I have Coran and he seems better in every way

In everyone's next Baldurs Gate playthrough, might I suggest a chaotic evil pixie halfling Thief called Munroe for the team, with proficiencies in scalpels, dual wielding phones (for maximum tweets per second), and grifting. Any group of adventurers will probably need a camp chef... inexplicable basilisk egg on toast, anyone?

Stardew on PC is absolutely worth it. I've put nearly 200 hours into it and that was before the update that added the island so there's even more content now.

I'm playing Watch Dogs: Legion atm and it's ok but very flawed. The graphics and the design of the city are great but it's so glitchy, the AI love to stand on tables for some reason and the crouch and cover buttons don't work half the time. It's really noticeable how few voice actors they used as well, everyone sounds like the same three people. I'm also just constantly playing as a construction worker because the cargo drone summoning is so useful which negates the entire concept of the game. Glad I didn't pay full price for it.

I feel like it's been a while since there was a really amazing game out. I miss that feeling of playing a game that just blows you away. RDR2 was the last game that did that for me.

I feel like when they just pop up on game pass they aren’t as exciting either. I liked the pre order waiting for the postman to arrive feeling #old

I’m really looking forward to Halo Infinite and the return of split screen multiplayer

The GTA Trilogy looks disappointing to say the least. So many unnecessary bugs and glitches that really should have been ironed out during testing, the games look unfinished. The rain looks awful, frame rates are shit, hit boxes are missing in some areas of the map, bridges disappear in front of your eyes. Don’t get me started on the character models, some of them look like Sims. You’d think Rockstar/Grove Street Games would have learnt from the Cyberpunk debacle. At first I thought people were being nit picky, but the more I hear about it the more apparent it is that these games are quite lazily done and not worth the rrp. The trailer looked great. It’s such a shame.

I won’t be buying it yet, certainly not at full price. Hopefully they can sort it out. This will be a stain on Rockstar’s reputation for sure. The developers at GSG should be ashamed putting out such a shoddy product.

I’ve just got done with another play through of GTA5. I’m going for 100% but I’m finding it so frustrating, the stunt jumps in particular. It’s a great game but Rdr2 has so many little improvements that make it nicer to play. I hate dying or getting arrested and then ending up at the hospital or police station miles from where I was with no vehicle. Got to used to being able to call my horse from anywhere and having it spawn right outside the sheriffs office lol.

Yeah agreed regarding their lack of communication.

I'm completely against hacking for obvious reasons, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar's refusal to communicate at least partly inspired the hacker. If they just said they were working on it and released a tiny teaser trailer that'd be enough for the fanbase.

I can see that as being a possible motive. What the hacker did was completely unacceptable, yet probably avoidable. I have started to notice the lack of interest they have towards fans for a while now. All they seem to care about now is making as much money as possible whilst putting in the least effort.

The head of Grove Street Games sounds like a bit of a twat. Rockstar should be absolutely livid, but who knows if they even care anymore. They are mere puppets for Take Two at this point it seems. Maybe Sam Houser and Lazlow left for good reason after all.

I was hoping ruffian games/rockstar Dundee would have been the ones behind any remasters, they seem to have a good reputation for that kind of work. I’d love to know the justification for using GSG. I find it hard to believe Rockstar are ok with having one of their legacy franchises tarnished like this.

I can imagine rockstar taking that long to be honest! I’m in an opposite situation in that I’ve played all my current games to death (or can’t play them at all due to broken xb1) and am desperate to get something new but right now have more important things to spend my money on I want to play Watch Dogs: Legion, Cyberpunk, Ghost of Tsushima, Tony Hawk Remakes, fallout 4 (have the complete edition for Xbox annoyingly), stardew valley (my disc got scratched). I have never heard of judgement.

I’m currently playing The Sims4 which is quite a contrast to the games we’ve been talking about but I love simulation games.

Sea of thieves is finally adding a new private mode called safer seas in December, finally can look forward to playing without trolls disturbing me or having to check a map every 3 seconds to keep away from them

I was one of the first in my class to get a PC (1992, dad brought it home from work) and the first game I played was on Windows called Reversi and an old MS-DOS version of Pac-Man called PC-man (sounds like a woke superhero but no it was just another version of Pac-Man honest). Fell in love with Prince of Persia, an arcade style game called Xenon something, a basic platform game called Jumpman and how could I forget Lemmings? Could never get past the ‘mayhem’ levels though. Another one I remember which seemed dead advanced for the time (1993) was Catacomb Abyss. Was actually terrifying!

Did anyone here have to play those BBC computer games in school? We had a right mad one called Flowers of Crystal.
