Gutted, I checked system requirements and my old laptop doesn’t have a good enough graphics card for Starfield
Mr Mouse has just come home with an XboxGamepass, Starfield, sorted!
I'm 33 hours playtime into it and I've only done 3 main story missions
It’s downloading just now, he’s gone out but it won’t finish downloading for a while and I’m getting sleepy.

Dumb question, if we just want access to games but don’t care about online multiplayer so we just need to get gamepass and we don’t need Xbox live as well?
Get the Ultimate Game Pass. Covers everything AND if you get reward points it is free (I haven't paid for mine in about two years).

But you do need Xbox live whether you want to play multiplayer or not so even if you just bought Game Pass, you'd have to buy Live separate

I'll give Starfield a twirl 6 months down the line when it's patched up a bit more.

Is the space ship flying/combat bit entertaining or does it need more work IYO?
I fancy the flying around/space travel more than the shooting people bit on this one.

Got a switch a week ago and actually shocked by the price of the games for it. Thank god they have a good sale section
Tbh, there isn't a massive amount of flying... you tend to jump to different systems by just pressing a button and then land. Only time I really spend flying is usually fighting other ships.
You can fly vaguely and dock with ships/space stations, and you can engage in flying combat, but you don't actually fly anywhere (unlike No Man's Sky).
Space travel is fast travel, essentially.
