I feel like it's been a while since there was a really amazing game out. I miss that feeling of playing a game that just blows you away. RDR2 was the last game that did that for me.

If anyone is interested in picking up Cities: Skylines it's on Steam for £4.59 or free to play over the weekend! You can pick up Prison Architect for £5.94 as well and lots of DLC available reduced.

Oooo good thread - we have a gaming PC arriving tonight so any recommendations for games are much appreciated! Planning on getting the Xbox Game Pass subscription for PC.

Growing up I loved the Pokemon games for Gameboy and I played Rayman and Crash Bandicoot on PS1. For PC gaming I loved the Sims, Theme Park World, Rollercoaster Tycoon etc etc.

We have a PS4 and I'm loving playing Witcher 3: Wild Hunt just now. Great game. I'm 95 hours in and haven't completed the story yet (although I'm close) and there are still two expansion packs to play after. Partner is 120+ hours in and he's on the final expansion pack which seems huge! It was cheap in a sale so it's been great value for money.

I also have a Switch and have a few games for that - Animal Crossing, Pokemon Lets Go Eevee (great nostalgia value and so much less frustrating as you don't have to physically battle Pokemon to catch them), Rayman, Zelda BOTW, Mario Kart and the recent Mario pack which had the three older games in it. Loving Super Mario Sunshine.

I got so invested in RDR2 storyline!
Skyrim is just amazing to explore on.
Spyro is a childhood favourite & same for Jak & Daxter.

First console I can recall was Sega Master System and my mum used to play Alex the kidd. Best night ever when my mum used to let me stay up late because she was close to completing master of shinobi

Best games of all time for me:

Lion King on Sega mega drive
Zelda ocarina of time
Sonic 2 - tails always got in the way though
Tombi on ps1 (no one has ever bloody heard of it)
Skyrim

Excellent memories include:
Tomb raider 3 - shooting the butler and locking him in the fridge, and also playing 100 ways to kill lara croft

The sims - no neighbourhood is complete without a graveyard! Swimming to death or doorless room with many many fireworks were my methods of choice

Now I spend most of my time on skyrim or stardew Valley!!

I tried to play Zelda breathe of the wild but it felt a bit too much - swords break on you and you need to remember recipes to cook foods I struggle with what's supposed to be the best games thesedays and miss the Gameboy days! I miss games being a bit more simple and that you could dive in for just a short time.

I *finally* got round to signing up to Steam and bought Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale in the sale for a grand total of £16.61. I think Neverwinter Nights was £40 for the base game when it first came out! Looking forward to playing them all again, I've not ever managed to finish the first three, but I have a lot of downloading to do first.

Hosea I loved all the gang apart from Micah. But my favs have to be Hosea, Lenny, Sean, Karen, Tilly, Charles and I even grew to love Uncle after a while.

Special mention for Rains Fall as well, god that part of the story broke my heart, Rains Fall was such a pure soul. The acting/motion capture in this game is incredible, I got attached to way to many characters.

I hated the fishing until I went into the settings and changed it so I just have to hold down square instead of using the stick. Total game changer.

I adore this game, I always end up coming back to it. My beloved fallout 4 and Witcher 3 haven’t had a look in since I got it last year. Such a tragic, amazing, deep and emotional story.

Oh man Fallout 4! How did I forget that one!?

Rains Fall was a brilliant character in RDR2. I also liked Hamish Sinclair, you meet him near O'creagh's Run. Not a huge character in terms of screen time but he teaches you a lot.

Oh wow I didnt know you could change the button configuration for fishing. I wish I'd have known that at the time, my thumbs got cramps from getting all those Legandary fish!

I have RDR2. Been hesitant to start it in case I hated it but sounds like I will love it.

As a die hard Ressie Evil fan I picked up RE8 today so I will play RDR2 after that. Exciting times ahead!

I’ve recently downloaded House Flipper on Steam. It’s ok but not that challenging or fun, just doing up houses and onto the next mission. My go to is sims 2, always have and always will be, not a fan on the newer ones. If I had a better PC I think house flipper might be good. I’ve also heard about a new life simulation game coming out soon, I think it’s called Paralives. Can’t wait for that. I think something needs to come out to rival the sims or atleast try.

I'm currently a little bit addicted to House Flipper. Best 7 quid I ever spent (thank you Steam sale!)
I am one of those people that likes building and decorating houses more than playing the actual game in Sims though. Paralives sounds intriguing!

Glad to see other simulator fans, Cities: Skylines is such a good one! I must confess my most-played game on Steam is ...Euro Truck Simulator 2. Don't give a fuck or know anything about trucks or trucking (I chose my truck based purely on how huge the horn noise is) but there's something really engrossing about it. Nothing like putting on 80s radio and taking seventeen tonnes of beef from France to Hungary.

GTA: Vice City is probably my favourite game of all time @Shesaidwhat? it's the only GTA I've ever bothered to complete 100%. The newer ones don't do anything for me. I didn't like GTA4 and wasn't fussed over GTA5 either. Haha @Switchstreetz I mentioned on the Off-Topic thread before that my parents let me play GTA2 on the PS1, I also have to assume they didn't know what it was and thought it was some sort of racing game.

So now I need Euro Truck Simulator 2
I'm so sorry, I've only just found this in the JM thread so I'm a bit overexcited. I'm going to be replying to really old comments all evening!
I started out with a Mega Drive I bought off my neighbour. My favourite game was Road Rash where you were in an illegal bike race and had to try and knock each other off with coshes and chains. Adored Theme Park (PS1 I think?) - my fave was feeding people salty chips, making them drink buckets of cola and then sending them on the rollercoaster
My favourite GTA was whichever one had the song 'Taxi Drivers Must Die' in it.
Spent an awful lot of time in Morrowind (pc and I modded the hell out of it - lost the lot when my laptop died) and Oblivion

If I ever played a scary game I think it was called Silent Hill with the little girl, I had to turn my volume right the way down as either the music would scare me or the enemies jumping out.

I got all the Silent Hill games, but I couldn't play them in the house by myself. The first one especially was genuinely frightening

I was so happy with the Spyro remake, they did a great job with it. I also have the Crash remake but honestly I’ve always preferred Spyro. The crash bandicoot games tend to make me want to launch my controller at the tv.

I bought a gaming laptop a couple of years ago which was pretty much for World of Warcraft. I've played it for about 10 years (oh god) on and off. I definitely don't have as much time now as I did in my early 20s and only play a couple of hours a few times a week but I still love it

Simpsons Hit & Run was an absolute nightmare, I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it The first two Saints Row games were fairly normal GTA clones but the third one is just ridiculous, I love it. The character customisation is exceptional as well.

@cheapwetham Alex Kidd in Miracle World is <chef's kiss> I don't know anyone else who ever played it. I got a cast-off Master System from my cousins when they were bored with it and it had Alex Kidd built in. They also had a Shinobi cartridge and some sort of tennis game.

If anyone remembers Chip's Challenge it's free on Steam! You can turn off the audio so you don't have to keep hearing 'bummer' every time you fuck up.

Just bought Tales of Arise and sank a couple of hours into it tonight, it's great! Strong recommend if you are into JRPGs, if you haven't played a Tales game before. It's very beautiful

Also you can put accessories and costumes on your characters for no real reason other than amusing yourself. I put a monocle on one character and now I'm in love with her

I've been playing rdr2 on and off since 2018 and still haven't finished it - I keep getting distracted by the fishing minigame or dominoes or just helping out at the camp and going for horse rides it truly is a technological marvel though, I'm always finding new things that make me go "wow I can't believe they thought of this!" I'm still constantly amazed by it 2.5 years later. And the graphics! I know they're not everything but the game is so beautiful, it can genuinely take your breath away sometimes (I love the random thunderstorms).

Hahaha the KKK thing is amazing! You're right there is so much to see and interact with on RDR2.

I was doing the opening mission the other night & was so blown away with how realistic the horse footprints looked in the snow!

I really root for some of characters in the game too, I get soooo invested. Hosea is one of my favourites

The fishing is fun too, hurts your bloody thumbs after a while though!
