I’ve recently downloaded House Flipper on Steam. It’s ok but not that challenging or fun, just doing up houses and onto the next mission. My go to is sims 2, always have and always will be, not a fan on the newer ones. If I had a better PC I think house flipper might be good. I’ve also heard about a new life simulation game coming out soon, I think it’s called Paralives. Can’t wait for that. I think something needs to come out to rival the sims or atleast try.

Love this! First games I remember are Shinobi and Mortal Kombat on my brother’s Sega Master System.

Loved Theme Hospital and Theme Park on the PC when I was a kid. Tried getting into Two Point Hospital when it came out but I rage-quit because it was too hard. Still play Rollercoaster Tycoon every now and then when I fancy it.

I’ve played The Sims since it’s release in 2000 and still I can quite easily spend all evening playing it and ignoring my family. Became addicted to Stardew Valley during lockdown. I prefer simulation sort of games. Anything with fighting stresses the hell out of me and I end up panic-shooting everything.

I loved making the rollercoasters crash in Rollercoaster Tycoon! Same appeal as Sim murders.

I've never been a hardcore gamer but PC games were a big part of my childhood. Until I was 9 we lived in a part of East Asia where there were markets full of pirated games, and my dad would take us there for a treat (early lessons in morality). We had consoles from time to time, but I always preferred the PC. We used to sit around as a family taking it in turns to play Prince of Persia. I thought my dad was a tech wizard because he knew how to install games.

My absolute favourite games ever are the point & click adventures from LucasArts. Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Grim Fandango...adventure games pre-internet were great, there were no walkthroughs so you just had to puzzle things out yourself. Brilliant.

Nowadays, my laptop isn't beefy enough for most modern games but I enjoy getting classics from Steam sometimes!

Modern day assassins creed would certainly be something. I’m thinking GTA with parkour.

Set it in the 90’s and you can help Vanilla Ice stop, collaborate and listen. Or help the spice girls locate their relic tour bus.

Sea of thieves is finally adding a new private mode called safer seas in December, finally can look forward to playing without trolls disturbing me or having to check a map every 3 seconds to keep away from them

Playstation 1 was my introduction to gaming. Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Kula World (anyone remember that?!), Spyro and Rayman were my favourites. I also spent a lot of hours on The Sims and Doom on the PC.
Didn’t have as much time to play for a while but got in to Halo and Left 4 Dead on the Xbox when I met my husband and loved them. I really enjoy games that have local multiplayer option, I don’t play so many on my own these days. Halo 5 not having split screen multiplayer annoyed me! Though I do enjoy Fallout (New Vegas and 4)

If I ever played a scary game I think it was called Silent Hill with the little girl, I had to turn my volume right the way down as either the music would scare me or the enemies jumping out.

Also used to like Bully on the Xbox 360

The original Sims was good on the PC but after awhile it would get boring as I had the cheat I think it was rosebud;; for never ending money so all the sims ended up with mansions.

I put my Christmas money towards a new gaming laptop and I’m so excited. It’s nothing fancy, certainly not top end but it will run most modern games comfortably, not on max settings but it’s a huge upgrade from my current laptop which is years old.

I can’t wait to get stuck into the world of PC Gaming. I’ve only really played the sims and zoo tycoon on pc in recent years. Planet Zoo is something I’m really looking forward to playing. Might give Cities Skylines a go too. I’ve noticed pc games can be bought quite cheaply so that’s a big plus.

Buzzing that there's a gaming thread! I'm a bit of a video game fiend, especially during lockdown, I think gaming has kept many minds sane over the last 15 months.

My first console was a game boy colour then a ps2 and I grew up on the family friendly holy trinity of Spyro, Pokémon and... Grand theft auto...I have no idea how that got past my parents I assume it was one of the games that came with the console when they bought it

I genuinely miss the era of the Nintendo Wii, I don't feel like we've had a console since that brings families together like that did, who doesn't fondly remember crushing their family at mario kart? Or their grandma launching a Wii remote into the ceiling at 50 mph trying to bowl a strike? I wish that style of game would make a mainstream comeback.

Anyone else playing the new Horizon game, Forbidden West? Mine just came in the post and I'm downloading it now. So excited!

Currently playing it! So far it's amazing and a bit annoying at times due to my fault and keep dying all the time lmao. But I've still really only.rouched the beginning as I'm trying to take it slow and take it in! Took this the other night!

I love House Flipper because it's so chill! It does get repetitive though but the DLC helped with some of that.

I'm a very casual gamer and generally play simulation things where I can build/own/decorate a house because I live in the South East of England so this is pretty far from reality for me I've played the Sims since its first ever release up until now (Sims 2 + pets expansion forever ). Also Animal Crossing on the Switch has been my most played recently but I am starting to get a bit bored now.

On my Steam I've got House Flipper, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo (got a gaming PC entirely to play this ), Two Point Hospital, Jurassic World Evolution, Cities Skylines, Stardew Valley and recently got The Tenants.

I've always grown up with consoles from the MegaDrive to PS1, Dreamcast, Gamecube etc. Played all the obvious games like Sonic, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Mario Kart etc!

I loved the point and click adventures, bought some in a Steam sale a few years ago. One of the first I played as a kid was the 101 Dalmatians storybook lol.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines are really fun PC games too.

GameCube is probably my favourite console. So many good games e.g. Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Wind Waker, Mario Kart: Double Dash etc. Also, Tekken 3 on the PS1 is a classic.

I currently own a ps5, pc and nintendo switch!

my all time favourite games are:
Red Dead remption 2
Animal Crossing
Stardew Valley
Planet Zoo!
Spyro and Crash bandicoot!

i do find that i have so many new games to play but hardly any time to play them and then when i do sit down to play i just play my comfort games lol! I also grew up with the sims, zoo tycoon (which got me super excited for planet zoo!) the orignal spyro games (even though the remakes where fantastic!)

I loved far cry 3! Agree that I definitely wouldn't play it if any kids are around though, that is NOT a game for the young uns! (I do wish more parents would pay attention to age ratings on games - you wouldn't let your 11 year old watch an 18 rated film without checking it yourself to see if appropriate, I think if you're buying a 16/18 rated game it doesn't hurt to look the game up on YouTube and read the warnings on the back of the box about content)

Haha yes! You could drive into and under the sea and the passengers would just be like "wow your driving sucks! We're going the wrong way." Kicking your car as they get out and stomp off along the seabed in a huff or when you crashed into other cars, knocked over several phoneboxes, deliberately took out a cafés entire outdoor seating area and nearly ran over 15 pedestrians in the process... but your fare gives you a tip anyway cause you got to the church quickly. What a game!

Did anyone else play burnout revenge? It was like a racing game but you were supposed to knock your opponents off the road/into oncoming traffic to make them crash?

ETA: I just realised this post makes me sound so aggressive, I did also play nice games like spyro the dragon it wasn't all murder and roadrage I promise

RDR2 I was going to buy on stadia today but the sale brining it down to £35 seems to have ended . £55 seems a bit too high to buy for a system that will probably disappear next year.

What I played of it before it was good, but the epilogue really didn't draw me in like GTA5 and hunting, then skinning, then bbq'ing rabbits isn't my thing either

That does seem a lot especially on stadia! I paid £21 for my standard copy of rdr2 for PS4 off of Amazon last year, so it’s possible to pick it up cheaper at times.

The first chapter is a bit slow, but necessary to the story imo. It picks up as the story goes on. Hunting and cooking is optional also! It’s only required in a couple of missions earlier in game and then after that it’s a case of if you feel like it. You can just buy food from the butchers, saloons and shops and eat stew at camp and it’ll do the job.

I really enjoy GTAV and recently played through it again, it’s so much fun and I love the satire in it, but when it comes to the open world and story and characters rdr2 is on another level to me. I cannot wait for GTA6, the bar is raised every time rockstar releases a new game. Hopefully only another couple of years to wait

I got so invested in RDR2 storyline!
Skyrim is just amazing to explore on.
Spyro is a childhood favourite & same for Jak & Daxter.

Currently playing Witcher 3 and doing a playthrough of Red Dead 2

I've been playing rdr2 on and off since 2018 and still haven't finished it - I keep getting distracted by the fishing minigame or dominoes or just helping out at the camp and going for horse rides it truly is a technological marvel though, I'm always finding new things that make me go "wow I can't believe they thought of this!" I'm still constantly amazed by it 2.5 years later. And the graphics! I know they're not everything but the game is so beautiful, it can genuinely take your breath away sometimes (I love the random thunderstorms).

Far Cry 3 and 4 are great. The first two Far Crys are too glitchy to play on modern machines. One of them I made an effort to get into and the player character and NPCs would just start jumping up and down at random and I couldn't fix it so I gave up.

I've put nearly 200 hours into Stardew Valley as well, has anyone played since the major update? You can sit on chairs and put benches outside now! Incredible technology. And you can finally delete cots and the beds for children from the nursery if like me you are just platonic room-mates with Krobus and have no intention of having children.

Anyone play Cyberpunk 2077? Couldn't wait when it first came out, but it looked and played like complete arse on the PS4 and I was so gutted (not enough to stop playing it tho lol).

Managed to bag a PS5 and am now on my third playthrough (streetkid this time, better than the other paths).

Things I like; it finally looks good! Still glitchy now and then but I've played worse (hi Fallout 3!). The characters are pretty well written and I like the different combat styles (much prefer hacking to melee tho).

Not too keen on; gratuitous nudity! I mean, I guess Projeckt Red set themselves up for that after all the relentless arse-shots in Witcher III, but it's soooo unnecessary and reeks of penis pandering. Oh and they bumped off my favourite character. RIP choom

Might go back to Mass Effect Legendary after this playthrough, or start that free game...Plague Tale? Bit of a downer in current climes though. Shooting reapers prob less scary!
