One way around it would be if putin is found guilty of war crimes, and a world wide coalition (Inc china) could be put together to go in. Highly unlikely, but nato alone couldn't do it. You'd need a majority worldwide agreement, and that would have to include China

How long would that take though? Doesn't it require a trial, how do you catch him?

With regards to any potential NATO conflict things that are likely in a non nuclear confrontation.

You can be pretty sure the NATO top brass have already drawn up contingency plans.
In wouldn’t be surprised if there are already some covert NATO specialist units in Ukraine aiding the resistance.
Based on the performance of the Russian army so far, NATO will shred them like cheddar on a grater.
NATO can invade from multiple directions at once, through Poland in the West, the Baltic’s in the North, or through the Black Sea via Turkey. Or all simultaneously.
I wouldn’t mind betting that chucking a few million their way will cause Chechens and other minorities in Russia to have an internal revolt.
For shits and giggles they might also go through Belarus and we will see how quickly their military turns on their beloved leader. People generally don’t want to die for dictators.
China has rightly reached the conclusion that when all this is over someone still needs to buy their tit, and that ain’t gonna be Russia who are about to enter the mother of all recessions with a worthless currency.
So reasons to be cheerful? Russia is fucked with a stick.

It’s as the saying goes, two wrongs don’t make a right. The second we start breaking the rules that’s it, everything is lost, no point in the UN, all the other rouge states would do what they want, it would be a free for all and literally the end of the world. I don’t get how people can’t see this and are now setting up petitions for nato to issue a no fly zone.
Sadly with the amount wanting it i think preasure will increase im hoping jen keeps his firm stance because honestly if what were told about his state of mind is true then we need to be careful

Yes, that could be an option but - as you said - highly unlikely.

I still can't get over the rave thread. The poor guy!

Reminds me of something I read over the weekend. The reality of putins nukes is that he has perhaps 1000 that are primed ready to go and he’ll spend money on obtaining the nukes but not the infrastructure that houses them. Twice since WW2 Russia has given the order to fire a nuke but once one man claimed the system broke and it wouldn’t fire. It wouldn’t wash here but it did there, thank god.
p.s. sorry for sounding flippant and saying nukes, I’m in the bath, water’s cold

if the above is true, and I suspect it is, then this is the beginning of the end for Putin, his people live in dire straits whilst he lives in opulence, they don’t want war. They’ve got away as far as they can from Russia and they’re surrendering.

this will snowball in the next few days until it reaches the Kremlin and one of his own takes Putin out.

Yes, we need to be careful in any case. Who knows what's next on his agenda? Will he always hold this threat over us?

Canada’s deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, is speaking live and just called Putin’s actions “the last ditch efforts of a dying Kleptocracy”. Strong words. She has Ukrainian roots and an incredible education in Russian history from Harvard and international peace. Her wiki is impressive, I dare say more qualified than Trudeau, perhaps. One to watch.

Canada also announced waters will be closed to Russian ships.

Yes I’m still laughing at the comment one Tattler made - his height doesn’t matter when you’re lying down! 😂
Can’t wait to see Putin statues dragged through the street being hit with shoes. It’s probably going to be a different insult than it was for Gadaffi but it made me well up watching those in iraq years ago.
