Somebody I follow on insta has been waiting since march for her kids passport, she booked the cheapest ticket she could find for flights to Spain, sent the proof to the passport office and they’ve expedited it.

Mine was a renewal. It took three weeks and I think it only took that long because I forgot to send my old one back. Once it said received for my
Old one on tracking it too a few days. It said old passport received next day said checks completed then printed then out for delivery.

That was at the end of may.

How long before the old one expired did you apply for a new one?

I applied for 3 child passport renewals on 28th Feb. Still waiting for the final one and we go on holiday in a month.

His photo showed as “good” when I applied but later down the line wasn’t deemed good enough and we then had to ask someone to countersign, despite it being a renewal.

Then we had to send off a letter of consent from his Dad (I’m his stepmum and so they didn’t accept it coming from me). I sent that and his birth certificate by recorded delivery. It was signed for the next day but then wasn’t updated online as being received until a month later.

I’ve heard nothing from them in 8 weeks now and have been speaking to them unsuccessfully by email. I tried to call them earlier and despite first selecting that I’d been waiting more than 10 weeks and then selecting that it’s required urgently, wasn’t transferred to an actual person and instead the automated response was that they’ve received the information and it was being processed.

I can’t even book a fast track appointment now as the passport office have his old passport and birth certificate 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve emailed again today asking for someone to respond urgently. I think I’ll just have to bombard them with calls and emails now.

Horrendous. For me I phoned the general passport line and pressed 8 and it connects you to an actual person instead of the robot. It makes absolutely no sense what system they’re using! The fast track appointments are so scarce it’s even risky. If you’re not already there’s a few Facebook groups with lots of tips on there for people waiting. Hope you get it in time 😞

We applied for my son’s on the 15th of June. Was asked for another photo but the printed passport arrived on the 30th June. Was expecting a 10 week wait.

Thank you, I will try that ♥

I’m abit confused. Hope someone can assist please . I’m going on holiday in September but my passport runs out in January. Do I need to renew it even though it’s in date when I go on holiday? I googled it and it says it needs to be in date 6 months.

It depends on when it was issued not when it runs out under EU law

Most countries require 6 months validity on your passport from your return date, but that all depends on where you are going. It would probably be best to renew it just to be on the safe side as you don’t want to get to the airport and be refused to fly.

My passport is 2 years out of date and I'm not planning on going anywhere yet but I'm gonna get it renewed. Wonder how long I'll be waiting. I also want to get my 4yo her first passport but honestly the hassle my friend had getting her kids sorted is putting me off.

Better to do it now when you don't need it than wait and then get stressed because you're going away and it's taking too long

In the EU (and possibly other countries too) you're passport is valid for 10 years from date issued. My last passport was issued in April 2011 but it expired June 2021, for EU purposes it expired in April

Bit random, but I need to renew my passport. I want to do it online, but can't get a decent photo and fed up lol. I was going to go to tesco and get a photo done, but the post office can provide a check and send service. Is it worth using post office for passport renewal or just go through with it online and get my photo from the local Tesco photo booth. Sorry, it's a bit embarrassing as I'm useless at these kind of things

Just do it online and use photo booth! Quicker and easier especially for renewal they don’t ask many questions online at all

What booth did you use? On the online application it mentions a code to type in. Does Tesco offer this code on their photos or will I have to go to a specialised photo place for this? It's been a long time since I went on holiday, so seems things have changed a bit, at least it seems for me haha.

The photo shop in Timpson gives you the codes. We did my sons online and was a 15 day turnaround.

The photo booths in supermarkets give you the code on the photos. So you get the usual 4 photos plus there is one online that is accessed with the code. It's very easy
