So I’m currently just in my parents house right now and this thread reminded me of something.
the photo I inserted below is something that my older sister made when she was around 5. It’s been hanging on our kitchen window for the past 20 odd years or so. As you can see a lot of the bits have broken off due to it falling down. It would only fall down on really special days like Christmas or most often my mums birthday.
One day my sister turned around as if something had touched her, the same time the thing fell off. She described it as being a really icy feel.
My mum always believes it’s her dad as he died when she was 18.
My parents house is opposite to a very old 16th century castle which has now been converted into flats. When I was younger my grandmother was looking after me and I remember seeing a bat in my bedroom, we’d actually have bats in a lot of the rooms in our house (no nest anywhere from what we were told) we would also have floorboards creaking, lights being turned on and off, the radio turning on. Now my parents are probably the most logical, cynical, completely in religious people ever. However, they decided to call in a priest and he “blessed” our house. After that, the bats stopped coming in, the lights and radio were fine. I’m sure that there is a very logical explanation to everything I just said but I always found it so intriguing 🧐

I've watched a really good programme on You Tube called Ghosts on The Underground about the one in London. This is really creepy and I recommend watching it.

I agree with this. It's not always the building, it's the ground and foundations that the building laid on, also. I'd imagine that the 9/11 memorial site is very very active with energy. Afterall, we are all energy and when we die, that energy doesn't just disappear.
I worked somewhere with a six floor office building that was around 20 years old at the time. The cleaners refused to clean the top floor loos and showers alone due to all the noise of people talking and showering when it was empty.

I've lived in two houses with weird activity, one was an old boarding house where the taps would sometimes turn on and it would take a few turns to get the water to stop. I was ok with the little things like that but one morning the bathroom appeared to fill with mist/smoke when my housemate was drying her hair. Also the room I stayed in had a manhole up to the roof and every morning it would be pushed to the side and I'd have to get one of the boys to push it back. I ended up moving into another roomWe got hold of a psychic cleanser (?)
and she did a sage burning and holy water thing throughout the house. It worked, we had no more taps turning on and no more feeling like someone was just behind you.

That sounds so creepy, especially disembodied voices. Did you have any experiences ?

The weird things I experienced at Aradale Asylum - this was in 2014 so I've forgotten a bit.
The first thing we did was go to the mortuary, it still has some fixtures in it. Two of my friends went one at a time into one of the body freezers. They both said that they felt a pulling sensation on their right foot.

We got to use some 'ghost-hunting' tools, EMF readers and temperature gauges. One corner in the women's ward was at least 5 degrees colder than the rest of the room. So weird!

One of the girls on the tour said she was psychic and kept seeing a little boy. That was bull, lmao. No kids there, she was just a drama queen.

The men's ward was the creepiest, my friend and I both got a really bad stomach ache the second we walked in. It was so bad we had to get the tour guide to take us to the loo so my friend could have a poo! I had a great time hunting ghosties .

There's a cool 20 part series on YouTube hidden somewhere of English ghost stories. On one of the early episodes, they talk about the old Freeman catalogue headquarters in London that has now been demolished and made into flats. A woman was working late on her own in the building and went to the loo and infront of her walking to the toilets also was a blonde woman who wasn't holding the door open and walking silently. Eventually the woman gets to the toilets and this blonde woman that seemed to enter the toilets is nowhere to be seen but when she goes in the toilets all of the taps turn on at the same time and she finds out that the Freeman headquarters was bombed or held people seeking shelter during the war and a couple of women died. The lady was trying to acknowledge the woman saying "hello" or something along those lines and she wouldn't turn around or face her. It was very eerie.

It's a really good little series of firsthand accounts. The episodes aren't long, either 🙂

Not there but I did in another workplace when I worked as police staff; even senior officers just accepted the hauntings as part and parcel of working there.

At the same workplace, the building next to the six storey building was a bit older and only three stories. One evening, my line manager was working late around an hour after lowsing time. She was at the photocopier by the door of her office when a guy came in, perfectly ordinary with overalls, hard hat and workboots, just like 90% of the blokes working there. He didn't say anything but walked around the corner of the large metal cupboards to where the desks were and out of her sight. She followed him round to say that she was the only person in the office but he wasn't there. The only way out was past her. Third floor and no windows were unlocked. Mind you, we did know that there had been various deaths over the century the place had been operating, not unexpected in heavy industry.

I’ll watch all these and then completely regret it when I wake up in the middle of the night for a wee and I’m too scared to get out of bed 😂.

I have been loving this thread. I am absolutely obsessed with the paranormal. I’ve haven’t seen anything but I’ve had some weird experiences that weren’t entirely explainable.

About 12 years ago I came back into the house after being out with my friend for the day. I got in around 4pm and none of my family were home (I lived with my parents and my brother at this time). On days when my mum worked I made the dinner so first thing I done when I got home was put the oven on to heat up. I then went up to my room to put my bag in, when I left the bedroom I shut the door behind, like completely closed over, I always did. As I started walking downstairs I heard a noise as if the door was opening again. I stopped halfway down and assumed I was hearing things but nosiness got the better of me and I went to look. When I got to the top of stairs I noticed my door was slightly open. Now this door was totally shut over, I had almost slammed it when I went out the room and there was no windows open up the stairs. So, although slightly freaked out, I shut the door over and walked downstairs again. Heard the door open again but I would be damned if I was heading back up haha. I hurried down the stairs but as I went to turn into the hallway I got this totally freezing feeling all over my body, it was a boiling hot day outside. My hair on my arms were stood up and I had goosebumps, as I walked towards the kitchen I felt something pull my ponytail. I ran into the living room shut the door and sat until my mum came home 😂

I’ve commented my experiences on this thread a while ago but recently I felt someone touch my shoulder as I stood over the bathroom sink. There was no one there. I don’t think my house is haunted I think it was just a spirit letting me know they were there. I didn’t feel scared. It was only a gentle touch.

I'm guilty of doing that myself 😂

Thanks for your stories! 😊
That sounds so weird how normal and solid he looked, but to be honest I'd rather experience it that way where I saw someone and didn't realise at the time they weren't an actual person. It's happened to me before.

Police stations seem to be the hotspot of hauntings, I bet lots of things went on there that your colleagues experienced.

When I moved in to my first flat with my eldest who was 1, she used to tell me she could see a man in the corner of her bedroom with a tall hat on. Things also used to go missing, eg, I lost my driving license. Looked everywhere. Ordered a new one, and months later, it was just sitting on the windowsill. After we moved out, I found the new people who lived there didn’t stay long, as they had things constantly thrown off the walls. Glad I left him there!
Also, when I was younger, I used to live in a house I was petrified of. I don’t think I ever experienced anything, but I was so scared of it. When my nan died a couple of years ago, I was talking to an aunt who had bought the house from us. She was saying how haunted it was, which made me well up as my mum never believed me!! My aunt once saw someone up at my brothers old window from outside. My mum then confessed that she saw something standing next to her bed when my dad was away. She thought it was him, but he obviously wasn’t there!
Oh, my aunt also rented the house out after they moved. Apparently the people she rented to had a dog, who ripped up one of the rooms 😱 so scary

So you have one who pinches things like mine does! Once he nicked my husband's work belt but with so much moaning bought him a new one, then a few days later I was putting some stuff into the storage room there was said belt in a neat coil sitting on the seat of an old chair! I'd not been in that room for ages so its not like I'd picked the belt up and inadvertantly let it there and OH certainly would not have tidied up his own junk because he never does, however this does not happen all the time though, just every-so-often something will disappear then I'll drive myself nuts looking for it for a few days after which back it comes again. Incidentally, my bloke has a name - my son who saw him and listened to his bedtime stories told me his name so he is always referred to by that; He's part of the Family :)

My mother was packing for holidays one year and couldn’t find these stupid looking shoes she always took away for the beach/pool. They were plastic things with a massive flower on the front. She turned her flat upside down and accused me of pinching them. No chance, we don’t even have the same size feet 😂

When she returned from that holiday they were sitting neatly right on the middle of her bed. Her flat had been locked up while she was away and nobody else would have been in.

Ages after she was at a psychic who told her your Grandfather is still laughing about hiding your silly shoes.

Her grandad died in the 60s. This would have been the 80s.

Just remembered I have another one! We moved into a rental property for 6 months when I was younger, and my bedroom had this weird built in cupboard that started like 3 foot off the ground? So it just had a door like half way up the wall. My mum came into my room one night because I was screaming and apparently I was backed right up to the wall just looking in horror at the cupboard, and the door to it was wide open - we always made sure it was closed and it was an old house so it was a bit of an effort to open it, it wouldn’t have just opened because of a draft or something.

I don’t remember this event at all but it had quite an effect on my mum and we moved out of that place after 6 months.

Should also note that due to my job, I’m around dead bodies quite a lot. In fact, on super busy days, I used to go and eat my lunch in the mortuary just for some peace and quiet, whilst I was filling out my death certificate/cremation forms paperwork. So absolutely not spooked by death, and I have a very science-proved-only view of the world. But I do believe that there’s some kind of level of paranormal around and I find it so interesting.

A creepy story from DS forum:

I once temped at an extremely old Royal Institution in Holborn in London, which pre-dated the Great Fire of London.

The Building itself was built & rebuilt a number of time on the same spot & housed absolutely fascinating paintings of old Fellows of the Institution, dressed in 'fool Turpin' style attire.

It also housed a pathology museum & lecturing halls which contained deformed fetuses in jars & all form of medical macabre'ness dating back centuries. Anyone who knows Holborn in any level of details already knows exactly where I'm talking about - and a quick google search will enlighten the rest of you you.

However, what may surprise people is that in the basement, is a Mortuary. If you donate your body to science, this is where you may end up - serving as a learning tool for visiting lecturers - who have accommodation in the levels above the museum.

My role was a very last minute Security Guard. Though I had absolutely no experience in Security at all, I was at a loose end & the temp who was supposed to be there 'let them down very badly at the last minute' - so I agreed to go in for their Graveyard Shift - knowing nothing about the place other than it's address.

It was easy money. I locked up a few doors separating the museum & lecturing halls from the accommodation part - and buzzed in a few visitors, stumbling in from the pubs after the 11pm 'curfew'. Apart from that, I sat on the net and made myself coffees all night.

Nothing remarkable happened the first night, and in the absence of another placement I agreed to stay on for a few weeks.

Thereafter, things started getting odd.

I'd be sitting on the security desk and my bag (which I'd popped under the desk) would vanish. Id later find it exactly where I left it. My coffee would move to the opposite side of desk. Shadows would appear in well lit places or appear to move.

I was quite prepared to put all of this down to my imagination until one night, just after I'd finish locking up the doors between the museum & accommodation - I went back to the Security Office to return the keys when something on the CCTV monitor caught my eye.

In the corridor I'd just locked (which was adjacent to the office) was a man dressed in 1800's garb, walking very calmly towards to dividing glass paneled doors. He was in his mid-to-late twenties and had very pale skin, but was otherwise very solid. Outfit asides, there wasn't anything otherworldly about him. As he approached the door, light shone through it on to him as if he were solid.

'Sh*!' I thought. 'I've locked someone in!' I thought - having no reason to think otherwise.

I grabbed the keys again and jogged out of the office towards the doors, called ahead

'I'm so sorry! I didn't realise anyone was still....'

My apology was cut dead however as a floor to ceiling column of really dense shadow emerged through the glass doors (almost like watching a rain storm on the horizon) and passed silently across the foyer.

I looked through the doors and saw noone. I looked back at the shadow & it continued very deliberately through the foyer to the guest bar area.

The column threw me, but I was still thinking I'd locked someone in. Maybe they'd seen the column and freaked out. But where to? The corridor was locked. As were all the rooms off the side of it. I'd just locked them.

I unlocked the dividing door and went back to check. One of the rooms was unlocked but was completely empty. The street lights from outside lit the room up to almost daytime brightness. Definitely no one there. An intruder maybe?

Having no experience of this I rang up my emergency 'Out of Hours Contact' - who was the Building Manager.

'I've locked someone in the museum - but I can't find them.'

To say he was pissed off was an understatement. Half an hour later, he arrived and we both carried out an extensive / fruitless search of the museum.

'But he was on CCTV!'

We rewound the tapes to the time I saw him - and saw nothing but a dense column of shadow pass in front of the screen.

The building manager left, seething that I'd woken him & gotten him to come in for nothing a worst - a shadow at most - and left me to sit out the rest of my shift alone. But I knew what I saw. It was a person. I could make out the detail on his outfit. His hairstyle. Eveything.

When the Accommodation Receptionist arrived at 7am, I decided to very nonchalantly ask her in a round about kinda way (so she wouldn't think I was mad) about the place.

'So, this place is really old, huh...' I ventured lamely 'Bet these walls could tell a few stories?'

She immediately shot back with -
'What have you seen? What happened'
'What do you mean?' I asked.
'You've seen something. That's why the other guy before you left in the middle of the night. That's why they all leave You're asking me for a reason, not out of the blue.' she said, seeing straight through my lame atempts at subterfuge.
'Well yeah...?' I said 'But I didn't actually think I was right?! What... what did I see?'

She went on to tell me how the place is notoriously haunted. (The unlocked room especially.) The guy before me (who's shift I'd covered at the last minute) had legged it in the middle of the night when he looked out of the security office and saw a woman in a floor length gown running across the foyer. As all our guests need passes, he ran after her so he could sight her pass.

'Excuse me?!' he yelled a number of times as she lifted the hem of her skirt and ran up the stair case, which wound it's way around the rear of the foyer.

As he reached the landing in the middle of the stair case and she neared the top - she vanished into thin air, right in front of him. He scarpered mid-shift and when he refused point-blank to ever return - so I was drafted in to fill his shift.

Admittedly, this did freak me out a little - but as I said in my last post, I'd had other supernatural experiences in the past - and what set this apart from those, is that I felt no sense of malevolence from what I'd seen. If it were a 'bad' spirit - you get a real feeling of 'this thing wants to cause me harm' - and I had no such feeling. Yeah, it was unsettling - but I was intrigued more than terified.

So I did return - and it was the start of what was one of the most fascinating experiences of my life.

The next time I saw it, a week or two later I was locking up the guest bar on the far side of the foyer. As I was about to exit - again a floor to ceiling column of shadow emerged from the museum corridor opposite & rushed towards me, in the darkened bar. There was nowhere to run except further back into the dark - or straight into it - so I stood rooted to the spot.

As it passed through me, it was extremely suddenly cold and felt like static electricity passing over me. (Like when you take clothes out of the dryer & pass them over your hair.) It litrally crackled as it passed through me.

Again, I didn't feel it was out to hurt me - but it definitely wanted acknowledgement that it was there. So I eventually caught my breath & said out loud...

'Seems like you want a drink even worse than I do!'

At that, there was a massive thud behind me in the dark.

My heart was almost beating through my chest at this point, but I called out

'Well, make yourself at home. Have one for me!' - so I walked out, locked the bar & went back to my desk on the far side of the foyer.

I sat staring into the bar, which seemed extremely dark now. A short while later - the column of shadow emerged out of the bar and edged into the centre of the foyer - as if it were eying me.

We stared each other out for about half an hour or so until the shadow eventually faded away.

This is far from the end of this story - but I'll continue it another time.
Hells Bells! I got goose pimples reading that. 😱😮
