I've never seen a ghost but I have had creepy sensations in certain places/rooms , even the toilets in tesco. Can't explain properly but just a weirdness.

I lost my Dad to cancer two years ago, he was at home when he went and we were all with him which was a blessing.

I stayed at my Mum's house for a few days afterwards and helped out with some chores including raking up leaves and bits from the garden into a bag.

One afternoon, we were sorting through some paperwork and I went out to the kitchen to make a brew. I found the back door open and the now empty bag of leaves with the contents of the bag carefully emptied in a neat row along the floor. Mum and I were in a separate room and there was no one else in the house. We were more confused than freaked out at first but my Mum said it was probably my Dad having a laugh.

We also found things moved around in the weeks afterwards but after the funeral it seemed to stop. I still have vivid dreams where I speak to my Dad, I miss him terribly and have been on antidepressants since he died.

I also heard our dog for a while after she died. I could hear her snuffling around in the bedroom where she used to sleep and heard what sounded like her padding around the house. I hope she's still around.

I sort of lucid dream - in that, I become aware quite quickly that I'm in a dream and then remain there. Once I was dreaming about something I didn't like so I woke up in my bedroom. My boyfriend was standing at the door with the oddest expression on his face and then horror struck - there was someone in bed next to me, I could hear them breathing - and it clearly wasn't him. I remember the figure just starting to turn around in the bed and then all of a sudden - I woke up again. This time for real.

I've had dreams within dreams before but that was so disturbing to me as nothing was out of place the first time I "woke up" in my room.

My Dad died suddenly at home when I was a kid. My Cousin said she saw him just standing outside the room he died in years later.

Father in law said he saw a lady walk past our kitchen wearing a blue dressing gown while he was visiting. No idea who she was.

Just before my Maternal Grandmother died of cancer she whispered to my Mum that my Dad was there. I’m not really a believer in an afterlife but I guess it’s kinda comforting to think when you die someone comes to collect you.

I work in a lot of old buildings in London. We have so many ghost stories. I hate working really early and late.
Same thing happened as my grandad was dying. He was never a believer in god but some of his last words to my nan was that there is a god and that she must believe and also not to worry about him because he could see his mum and dad waiting for him 🥺 Of course he could have been hallucinating/ trying to comfort my Nan in his last moments but it’s such a comforting thought ❤

I love this thread! I am more of a lurker on this site but I had to comment here.
I don’t think mine is scary, but I think we have a ghost attached to our family. Nothing happened before my son was born (he is my second), then I remember seeing The Boy for the first time and when I was up one night feeding my baby son. I just saw a young boy peeking round the corner of the door frame watching me with my son. I was never scared of him, and he never did anything but just watch us, He then would come fairly often, maybe a few times a week and would always be peering round the door frame, once I saw him watching from the stairs, but again just peeking through the banister. I don’t know why but I always called him Tom, it’s just what I instinctively named him. He looks like a working class boy from the early 1900s (going by clothes), really hard to explain but I see him but I don’t at the same time. I can tell he isn’t a living being if that makes sense.
one day he stopped coming to visit, and then about a year later we moved out of the city we lived in and completely relocated. Then one day, I was on my own in the house- the kids in school and hubby at work, and I just suddenly knew he was there. I can’t explain it, it just suddenly popped in to my head that he was upstairs and was here to visit. I have occasionally seen him run from the kid’s bedroom to ours but only out of the corner of my eye. Last year was a really stressful year for us and he came a lot more then. So maybe he is a protective/comforting spirit? Who knows. But every now and again it will just pop in to my head and I think ‘oh! Tom’s here!’ For no reason. My oldest two have occasionally talked about someone else being in their room but they have never been frightened. Hubby is a complete skeptic and has never seen or sensed anything!
My great grandfather was a medium and my dad has inherited this gift for sure. There are times where we have visited places and he won’t return because spirits have tried to communicate with him and he will not indulge it at all!

Wow that’s a great story thanks for sharing. I’m so glad you’re not afraid by it. I’d be so scared I couldn’t cope. I once worked with a medium who saw ghosts and I told him to tell the ghosts to keep well away from me (after I had a ghostly experience, more of a sensation). I couldn’t actually cope with seeing a ghost.

I’m a massive wuss and get scared at horror films etc! But I can just sense he isn’t malevolent spirit, he isn’t there to cause harm.. it’s almost like he just likes to come and see what we are up to!

When my children were little we had a child ghost in our house. Never saw it fully but am sure it was a little girl.
As you've said, when i was feeding the baby or changing a nappy she would peek round the door and watch. I heard giggles too.
Although the idea of a ghost scares the hell out of me, I never felt frightened when she was there. My son (now in his 20s) has vague memories of having a friend called Charlotte when he was little, but he never had a classmate by that name nor anyone at playgroup etc. I guess that was her!
There was also an adult spirit, but I never saw him. My husband was in the garden once and saw a man in the kitchen. He ran in thinking it was a burglar but no one was there. We called him Fred.
He did use to move things, which was annoying. A friend who is really in to ghosts said we had to ask him to stop it.
One day i was in the kitchen and I couldn't find the can opener. I said really loudly something like 'Please put it back and stop moving things. This is our house now leave us alone' (I felt a right prat saying it!!!)
Can opener was back in the drawer that evening and nothing moved again!!

I was once in the George pub in hull
i was standing facing the door and inbetween me and the door some bloke was dressed as Ali G-with his mates
behind me was a wall
im standing there, having a laugh, drink in hand when something grabbed the back of my top and threw me at poor Ali
I landed on top of this poor bloke-and trying to explain something threw me made me look a right nutter
i know I felt that fist touch me as it threw me

we where at the black boy months later (a pub in hull)
it was empty as it wasn’t open for drinking at 10am
we wandered in (my ex’s mum knew the landlords and needed to drop something off)
I had my 6 kids with me (one in the buggy) and my son suddenly said
’mum,who’s that man?’
we all looked towards the toilets, and there, stood a man dressed as a pirate-with sword in his belt-just looking back at us
i have never in my life been so freaked out but had to stay calm as if I freaked-the kids would too
he just faded in front of us and the room went black
my god-I’ve never got out of a pub so fast in my life

we went for a drink years later at the Golden Fleece in york
we where at the bar when my ex found his wallet wasn’t in his coat pocket-it wasn’t the type of pocket where stuff would just fall out
the barman cheerfully told us the pickpocket would have taken it-he never got it back and had to cancel all his cards

same pub, same night-I saw a lady in full skirts swish past us as we where leaving
i got the hell out of there

years later I was talking to my mate and she used to live in the staff quarters and she’d seen the same lady many times in that pub

my son swears he saw ‘an army man with his leg missing and dripping blood’ in the toilets in the prospect centre shopping mall in hull
it used to be a hospital for the Second World War-we didn’t know this until years later when it popped up on fb

many more-I firmly believe in life after death

I am loving these stories!!! So good, some of them have given me goosebumps.

I don't have anything on the same scale but..

My ex has ghosts/spirits who followed him. When he was younger he had to see a priest, I was told stories about the stuff he saw and the creepy photos by his family. When we were alone in his parents house I would hear things (cupboard banging, floorboards creaking) one time a tub of butter jumped in the air - it was the strangest thing. We went on to live in two homes together and I still heard strange things.
My ex isn't a particularly nice person really, he showed no emotion. I remember one time he shouted of me terrified, I thought something bad had happened and ran up the stairs and he was just stood there shocked and crying (I was with him 8 years and it's the only time I saw him like that) and he said he'd just seen his Nanna (she died about three/two years prior to this). When we split and he moved out I no longer heard any noises or saw strange stuff. I believe someone is following him (I hope they're tormenting him now 😂 😂 )

I haven't had any strange stuff happen to me, I live in a flat currently and have lived here for over a year now. It's like a three floor flat with a separate entrance, so my doorway/hallway is my own and nobody else can access it. Anyway, the loft always gives me a eerie vibe. I catch myself looking at it often. I really don't wanna know what is up there/.

Over the last couple of months I have heard someone call my name maybe two or three times. A deep mans voice. Once I was getting my washing out the washing machine and it really made me jump. It strange because why have I started to hear it all of a sudden? There's nobody in my life who I have lost that I care about/was close to.. just seems bizarre.
Could it be a warning?

When my granddad was in his last few hours he was completely out of it, and he was actually saying out loud "I'll be there now" "my brother is waiting for me"

@ProphecyGirl I felt the same vibe in my previous house. As I walked up the stairs towards the loft it would feel eerie, I often wondered if someone had committed suicide.

Has anybody else ever had an experience where they smell cigarette smoke fairly frequently in their house, when nobody at all smokes or has been near anyone that smokes? I have smelled this for months now at random times, can go weeks inbetween without smelling it, thought it was me going mad but then my other half who is very much a non-believer in anything paranormal smelled it too and agreed it was strange! I just smelled it again and wondering what it is!

I used to when I first moved in, it was usually after it had rained. I assumed it was coming from next door or lingered from the previous owners. It never happens now.

I lost my dad 8 years ago and he was a great believer in using TCP for any cuts and grazes for first aid but it’s something I never buy or use but every now and again I get a strong smell of it - it’s happened in my car, new house (both places he died long before me getting) and other random places with no explanation. I like to think it’s him letting me know he’s about from time to time. My son was born after he died and at my previous house he used to babble and talk in the corner of the front room and when I asked him who are you talking to he pointed to a photo of my dad (this was when he was first talking around 2ish and I’d never told him who the man in the photo was as he was too young to understand at that point).

We also had strange occurrences at my childhood home growing up - things moving,a glass smashing and melting to a work surface when no one was stood by it, lights going on and off randomly even when an electrician checked wiring and signed it off as fine. My mum asked a vicar to come bless the house at one point but they advised us to just say ‘it’s not your time, please leave us alone’ when the strange things happened and eventually they did. We were never scared though so I don’t think whatever it was was a nasty entity.
