My partner reckons she saw a ghost cat coming down the stairs and walking around her mum, when she was a little girl. At the bottom of the stairs it just disappeared. Do you get ghost animals? Don't hear many stories about them.

Her other ghost story comes from when her whole family was staying at their grandparents' 17th century farmhouse. Again she was a young girl at the time. Apparently she was woken up by bedlam having broken out amongst the oldies, her aunt had seen a pair of eyes in the bedroom. The adults were then running around looking for them. She says her aunt was utterly terrified, like really really terrified.

We’ve got a ghost cat, I’ve seen it and so has my husband and daughter.

My cats used to rub themselves around my legs when I was on holiday. This was when they were alive! Since they died I’ve felt them against my legs a couple of times.

I saw my nans dog once when we were playing in the garden. When she got old she would stand by the patio doors as she couldn’t get down the steps that way and watch us play. She continued this when she died xx

I know this is superstitious spirit stuff but does anyone else have any experience of the 3 knocks? Basically not long ago my sister called me in a panic and scared saying she heard knocking thought it was the door but it wasn't heard the knock again and it came from a storage cupboard door she then heard it again when she was stood right near it. No one was in there and there's no explanation for those knocks. I wasn't there but I do believe it happened the way she was hysterical on the phone. So I googled it and I came across that hearing 3 knocks close together when no ones there and no explanation means that someone close to you is about to die very soon. Wasnt sure if this was a load of rubbish well I thought it was at the time. 10 days after those knocks our grandad died. I'm interested to know if anyone else has any experience of this or is it just super weird?

Whenever I tell this story people laugh but I know exactly what I saw and I could honestly draw him now and can see him so clearly in my mind!

when I was quite little, 6/7 me, my mum and brother live in a flat, back then we had a PlayStation 1 and for some reason it was set up in my bedroom, I probably had begged my brother to let me have a go, anyway, his friend at the time was round (sadly he passed away at 16 from a heart condition that he never knew he had) my brother and him were best mates. I remember being on a mattress on the floor (again don’t know why probably because it was like a “sleepover” night) I had my own bed but they were sat on the bed playing on the PlayStation. The light was on but it was dark outside. I remember looking up and there was a red indian man at the window waving very slowly. He looked like a typical Pocahontas character lol. I remember screaming and no one believed what I saw. I looked back and he had gone. We lived in a first floor flat so it was sort of high up, no one could have walked up to the window. It was so clear. Many years later when I was around 13 my auntie went to see a medium, they told her people often see ghosts in the form of red indians they can appear as angels. She never knew my story I don’t think and my mum and me straight away remembered my story. No one ever believes me but I definitely know what I saw.

I’ve just discovered this thread, and funnily enough ghosts were mentioned earlier in the day. My story isn’t scary though it was for me at the time, I was about 19 and worked behind the bar in a pub that was very long and narrow, a restaurant at the end, 1 bar in the middle and another bar with a dance floor at the other end. We used to go in at the restaurant end where the staff area was, it was a Friday night and me and my then boyfriend who was the chef there arrived about 4pm, I helped him do some prep in the kitchen then went through to the bars to switch the lights on and get the bars ready for opening at 6. I turned the restaurant lights on and walked through, I had to walk halfway through the first bar which was in darkness as it was November, I switched on the light and proceeded to go through to light the second bar up, it was unusually cold and draughty and as I approached the light switch out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw someone, I looked again and a man was sat on a stool at the bar dressed in what can only be described as 1800’s clothing, long coat, breeches, long boots and he doffed his hat to me, I nearly tit my pants, I screamed, put my hands up to my face and looked again expecting it to be one of the staff trying to scare me, and he was gone, and a draught hit me like a 40mph gust of wind as the door ( which was locked) slammed shut!! It was my most terrifying experience and I’ll never forget it.
Sorry it’s a bit long winded!! 👻

You answered your own question

My friend came to 'visit' in a dream once. He was clear as day, he said he'd just come to visit and let me know he was okay and then I woke up suddenly. I was so shocked because it was so real that I rang my mum and told her, I recognised his voice straight away and he looked exactly as he was. He died 12 years ago and this was only 2 years ago, so for my brain to remember something like his voice so perfectly when I can't recall it to memory now is too much for me to think this was just a dream. I was very upset when he passed so I do wonder why it took him so long to visit (that's not a complaint haha, just a musing), obviously I took great comfort in it though.

I have often wondered how I would feel if any of my dead relatives ever paid me a visit. I have yearned for my Dad to visit me, especially since I have just moved into a former pub, a place where he used to drink. 💜

You never know. It was very sad, one of those situations where he went to sleep and didn’t wake up the next morning. Sudden death syndrome? Ever since then I always believe peoples ghost stories

My Nan definitely came to visit me many years ago. To comfort me. She lived with us so I was very close to her. When I was 18 I was in bed one night sobbing as the twit I was seeing at the time had been particularly nasty. I felt someone sit on the bed next to me and half expected it to be my mum or dad. It was my nan.... clear as anything, smiling at me. I was so shocked - not scared - that I put my hands up to my mouth and she disappeared 😞
I told my mum what had happened and she had a similar thing happen but it was her Gran. My Nans Mum. Similar situation. My mum was lying on her bed crying as she’d had some bad news and she felt someone sit next to her. She rolled over and it was her Gran smiling at her. She wasn’t scared either. She said it really calmed her down to think her Gran was watching over her

I've experienced this twice although no deaths followed. I was asleep both times and the knocks were really loud.

During a holiday in Greece, we were staying in a small island and our accommodation was one of those old mansions converted into a hotel. On our first night there, I woke up in the middle of the night to see a silent lady in a white dress, sitting on the edge of the window. I don't remember feeling scared but I was a bit 'oh hell no' about it so I closed my eyes again and went back to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I didn't want to sound like a lunatic so I didn't tell my friends. 😂 Who knows if I was having a dream within a dream or it was a visit from an old tennant.

Oh, I remembered another one. This was years ago, I must have been a teenager. I was in the kitchen making myself a snack at night, I think I was alone or everyone was asleep because it was quiet everywhere. My face was towards the windows and our curtains weren't pulled so I could see the reflection of the back of the kitchen and the hallway the door opened to. I raised my head from the counter and saw a kid running. My brother would have been around the same age but if he were running, I would have heard his footsteps; but the reflection running made no sound at all. I decided if I wanted to turn back and investigate more and decided against it. I wondered if I saw something outside the window and got confused but that's unlikely because we used to live on the top floor. I still remember the blue pyjamas of the kid. I could never figure out if I hallucinated or actually saw a boy.

This post has been moved from another thread, upon realising this topic had been duplicated.

I have heard from a friend that she once lived in a house where there was a ghost. She heard a noise upstairs and assumed it was her child. She went to tell her to go back to bed and on the upstairs hall, saw the ghost of an elderly woman. She was mit scared and I think she said she jumped out of the window.

Has anyone heard of ghosts from the last 30 years or so? I find it strange that most ghost accounts are of people dressed in historic clothing, such as Victorian.

Yes my nephew saw the ghost of someone we knew who died around 15 years ago although this happened around 10 years ago he was about 4 at the time. He never met this person but said he was seeing an old man regularly in his room my sister never physically saw it but said she often heard evil sounding laughs that wasn't her son. They had this ghost buster group round with all that ghost equipment and stuff. They said there was a ghost there and communicated with it and weirdly they knew details about the man like his name and how he died etc they couldn't possibly of known he was from a completely different part of the UK. Apparently he was there to haunt them both, the ghost hunters said they would do something to get rid of him and they did because it all stopped. My nephew to this day still mentions the old man he used to see

SOunds as if the woman was confused and/or didn't realise she was dead!! Very scary and spooky.
That's what I thought. I've heard that when we die, we kind of detach from our bodies, like parting Velcro. If it was a sudden death, she might have thought "how did I get here, what happened?"

This was really intriguing - an old man your sister knew died and then found her in a different part of the country to haunt her?

Something completely surreal happened to me yesterday actually - and my mum was there so we both saw it happen! A very close member of our family passed away quite unexpectedly over a week ago and over the past few days we have been trying to track down her will as she never told anyone where she had put it in her house, nor who the executor was.

Genuinely we must have scaled her house top to bottom by the point this happened but my mum and I were both in the study sorting through paper work. I was sorting out some stuff that was on top of a small wardrobe type cupboard, and I was saying to my mum how frustrating it is that she kept her cards so close to her chest. Honestly, at that moment, the doors from the cupboard both opened, not forcefully or anything literally just opened fully (neither of us had been near it for a good 10 minutes) and low and behold there it was underneath some stationary and office bits. I was SO freaked out, it was literally as if she’d pointed us in the right direction.
