I only just stumbled across this thread.
Love reading all your posts.

I long to see my Dad or dream of him. I’m always asking for a sign that he’s here and that everything will be ok.

When he first passed I used to see Robins a lot, at very appropriate times and places. Also white feathers.

And I had a couple of vivid dreams where he was there but never spoke, and I longed to hear his voice.

It’s been 3 years now. I still miss him so much and often talk to him and ask him for signs but I don’t get that same sense that I’m seeing messages anymore.

I hope it’s because he’s in a better place and is watching over us there.

I know some people don’t believe in stuff like this, but for me I feel like there must be some truth in it otherwise what’s the point?

So it’s comforting reading the experiences of others.
Well, at least you know he's arrived safely on the other side - the white feathers message. I did hear that they find it hard to communicate with heavy energy. Think it was the woman I posted upthread. They also have to continue developing themselves so I expect they can't be around us all the time.
I know he'll be watching over you. I remember being told that one of my guides (grandfather) was combusting with rage trying to communicate with me about something so I was obviously doing the wrong thing. 😁
When I saw a psychic I did get an apology out of a relative who'd died, she also divulged that she could have as much chocolate as she wanted now. She was a chocoholic in life. This confused me as I didn't think you could eat "upstairs." The psychic informed me that they don't eat but get the sensation of it. So from this I worked out that she was saying she could have chocolate now without putting on weight or getting health problems.
So I received "proof" and had a bit of a chuckle.
They do say that the world is going to become more spiritual. Maybe people will stop being so frightened to talk about it then.

I have never tangled with mediums, but my dad died recently and made contact through a very close family friend of ours a few months ago, when she went to see a medium. The message was very strong, insistent and comforting (she recorded the session and sent it to us). I don't know how mediumship works, but I can imagine my dad elbowing his way to the front of queue to get his message to us. Great for us, but possibly a bit disappointing for the friend who was trying to speak to her nan...

My mum died when I was 14 (freak accident where my whole family was injured, but she passed away). I was laying in bed because I had multiple fractures in hip region. I was begging to my mum to take me with her. And that very night she came in my dream just to sleep beside me on my bed, looking at me in very loving way. This happened 21 years ago. I used to get my dreams with my mum in it.
Fast forward, I had kids and around 2020 lockdown period I was going through every mental breakdown. I used to 'talk' to my mum that how she left me with all this responsibility, and she should "come back" to take care of me (😅😆honestly I feel stupid now but I was in my lowest low). One night I dreamt of her sleeping on bed, with back turned away from me, my kids were throwing tantrums because they wanted something. But my mum didn't budge, she kept sleeping throughout the dream, conveying the message that she will not always be there and I should take responsibility on my own. I haven't seen her in my dreams since that day. This feels so spooky, I feel she has finally left me and moved on in afterlife.
Oh wow. I talk to my mum quite a bit too I feel like I need to. I hate the thought of her finally moving over and not coming back x

I feel like I'm surrounded by sadness and mortality at the minute so I wanted to share an old story relating to my granddad. I'm not sure what I believe regarding death but these couple of stories keep playing on my mind.

My granddad died of cancer in 2013. Ever the comedian, he joked about coming to haunt me when he died to which I told him if he did, I would be terrified and wouldn't be happy with me. My stories relate to my mum and my partner.

1st weird thing that happened was on the day he died. My mum was staying at my grandma's house as she'd told us if she didn't go back to the house, she would never go back following his death. My mum was asleep in her old room, with windows and doors all shut. No drafts or anything like this. She said she vividly remembers waking up but not opening her eyes. She said she felt like someone was sat next to her on the bed, like a parent watching over a child.
She said she saw his face and then felt the weight on the bed leave, as if someone had stood up to leave the room.

We also had it where my grandma was receiving so many condolence cards, they covered the dining room table and fireplace etc. Literally at the same time, they all fell over, like someone had put their arms across them and swept them off the table.

About a year after he died, me and my partner were sleeping and he woke up to see a man wearing an old miners uniform staring over me. He then spotted my partner staring and turned and left the room through the wall.

Finally, most recently, my mum has a mickey mouse ornament in the kitchen that has recently started moving itself. She couldn't figure out how it was moving, it was too heavy to be moved by the wind or a draft. The only way it could be moved is by someone actively moving it. My granddad was obsessed with Mickey Mouse and she thinks it was him doing it to wind her up.

Again I don't know what to believe but I really struggle to think these are all just coincidences. Who knows 🤷‍♀️
I've had similar so no you're not imagining it. Strangely you feel quite calm when it's happening but afterwards when you think about it it feels quite freaky.

This is something I’ve always thought about after someone I know took a jewellery box to another charity store after buying it second hand and it kept playing the tune even when it was closed 😂 was probably just faulty but it had to go.
My mum has one of those old fashioned wall units that have shelves in with glass doors, where you store your best crockery etc (they have a name and I can’t remember what it is!) from her best friends mums house after she died - her mum was lovely but it makes me 😬🫣 every time I go round 🤣 I always say hello to the person who’s unit it was incase she’s listening lol, she was a stickler for manners

Not a ghost story but today is the year anniversary of the death of a close family member.
I was driving to the shop and theres sometimes a lag on the car radio but usually resolves itself quite quickly. Anyway, we'd been driving for about a minute, the radio was either off or volume turned right down then all of a sudden, turns itself on, volume super loud and the song that is playing is the funeral song of this person. It was the middle of the song so cant have just been a quiet bit before the song started.
It was that loud and that random I thought it was my partner playing it on his phone through the car.
Here's to hoping its them watching.
It probably was. I was at a spiritualist church my friend took me to. A woman was asked if she was having problems with her car radio. She said yes, it kept going out of tune from the channel she had it on, and it was most annoying!
The psychic said it was her late husband trying to tune it to a better channel.
He obviously didn't like her taste in music.😁

I remember reading something a psychic said. She somehow got involved with the case of a girl. I think everyone thought the young girl had gone mad. Turned out she was actually psychic and couldn't control her gift, so was frightened to death of what she was experiencing in her head.
The girl had gone to hospital for an appointment and had picked up the residual energy of all the trauma that had been there.
I've been told of psychologists/psychiatrists having the gift themselves. Maybe it was that and one of them was around and knew what was happening with the girl. She was making a lot of noise, she was so frightened, so probably drew a lot of people's attention.
What I'm trying to say is maybe that's what we're picking up in these places - the residual energy - and they're not all haunted. 🤔
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of ghost experiences are actually some kind of residual energy, recorded and replaying in a certain location in certain conditions!

This is cool! I used to be able to tell when the phone was about to ring and who it would be but this all happened around the same time as some of the other experiences I’ve explained here - I was sort of 16-24 so I wonder if that was significant as I’ve not had anything much since!

My mum is a very no-nonsense, loves facts, not prone to flights of fancy northerner from Lancashire. Both myself and my mum had weird experiences when a relative died though not the same relative.

When my Pop died (that was my mum’s dad) I was only about 4 so didn’t really know much about it or when it happened, he was a pipe and cigarette smoker all his adult life and died of lung cancer, I don’t even know how aggressive it was or how ill he was or how long for, I just remember him being in his big chair with a checked blanket on his knees. Anyway, as he became more ill he went into hospice care. Mum has only ever told me this story once but it’s not like her to have anything except a rational explanation which she doesn’t have for this. She said that Pop had one particular nurse who was very forthright and no nonsense with a very strong Lancashire accent. She was a really good nurse and despite her brusque manner Pop really clicked with her and always wanted her to do his care. Mum said she heard, clear as day, at the exact moment she found out later Pop had died, that nurse say, in her forthright, no nonsense way, “Well come on then, if you’re coming!”. Not that spooky but pretty cool and Mum was the only one not to have some sort of experience in our old house and is so painfully rational and logical, and she couldn’t find a way to rationalise this. (I however am not 😂 and now after reading all your posts, am really not keen to wash my hair even though my husband is literally in the other room and I’ve never once had any odd experiences in our house, just lots of resident mice 😂)

My own weird premonitions were when my Grandad (Dad’s dad) died and when my Grandy (Mum’s mum) died.

I was about 17 when Grandad died, and woke up on just a normal day. Could not shake the feeling that something was missing but hadn’t slept through my alarm, hadn’t forgotten to do my homework, hadn’t forgotten anything I needed to take to school (I was in sixth form). Then my dad came in and the minute he opened his mouth I knew he was going to tell me Grandad had died. It was weird. In fact, the minute he said it, I just said “yeah I know” - Dad was like, how? As he’d only just found out himself and hadn’t told anyone yet.

As for my Grandy, she always used to spend Christmas with us. I remember having this really vivid feeling about 9 christmasses ago that this would be the only Christmas we’d ever have like that again. Hit me quite hard and was quite emotional, but it was like I just knew. I heard myself say, in my own head, completely randomly, “This will be the last Christmas like this.”

That following year, Mum and Dad moved out of the house we lived in at the time to relocate and Grandy stopped coming to spend Christmas with us because it was too far and her health had started to deteriorate. A couple of years after that, she passed away and we haven’t had a Christmas like that one since. Again, weird rather than creepy but 🤷‍♀️

I'm went on my first ghost walk tonight. Good fun, only really two things of note: in a tudor pub a sudden overwhelming smell of lavender that went as soon as it came. Same venue I experienced a strange full body shiver, seemingly at the same time a lady had a bit of a mini meltdown and had to leave. I wonder if we felt the same odd thing. Lovely misty night for walking around 👻.
I've always wanted to do a ghost walk but never got round to it. I was booked on a Jack The Ripper one but couldn't go due to illness. I must rectify this.

I have had a reading and the person knew A LOT. I hadn't even given my name. Either they really were communicating with the dead or just experts in reading body language.

But the fact they knew so much freaked me out and I never want to have another reading

Robins are said in Celtic folklore to be psychopomps which bridge the line between this world and the next, it is thought that they represent the spirit of a lost loved one when they follow you or land close to you x
I've just had a little Robin following me in the garden today when I've been tidying up (ready to put up the Xmas lights).

@Chocolategoggler I dont want to quote as your post is long but thank you so much for this! It's approaching my dads 1st anniversary. I was hoping for a sign but, nothing apart from 1 dream a few days after he passed. AI images of angels kept popping up on my recommended on Insta/YouTube after he died, and the words "do not be afraid" (my parents were religious). I didn't connect the dots at the time. This morning I read your post when I got up. As I walked into the gym Halo came on the radio! 😇

My grandmother died this week, as my sister and I sat holding her hand before she passed, I saw a weird, very dark, fast moving smudge type shadow on the wall the bed was against. Said to my sister, don’t want to freak you out but…she said I know, it went up towards the bed head! There was no shadow that could have cast that dark a shadow in that position, nor move that fast.

The night before I had a weird visitor dream (context; my family are known for odd dreams featuring dead relatives before or just after another member passes) set in my grandmothers house, a little being (I knew it wasn’t human) appeared with a big bottle of medicine smiled and ushered me to the living room, my auntie (still alive which threw me) appeared but at the same time I knew it wasn’t her but one of these beings, my grandmother behind her. My auntie/not really said come on time to go, pulled my grandmother behind the door and I woke up. I was telling my husband and son the next morning saying it wasn’t a proper visitor dream as auntie is still alive. Literally a minute later the phone rang with my mum saying my grandmother’s care home had called and we needed to get up there quickly as she’d taken suddenly very unwell.
So sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Really interesting the dreams seem to run in your family.

- I myself have been outside my body on various occasions, although it wasn't anything to do with being ill or on the operating table. I'd always wanted to astral project but despite how much I tried I could never do it.
i sometimes have the sensation I can ‘see’ myself, like my soul or whatever is temporarily coming out, I feel like I can almost see myself, my face etc

also we live in a new build that was just built on farmland and have a spare bedroom and when I had Covid in 2020 I slept in there and had dreams of like a cupboard above my head with something creepy in it, but obvs nothing could have been there before, but I still don’t like sleeping in there, gives me bad vibes 😅

had a similar dream when I lived at home, stairs going to a doorway in the top corner of my room, a b woman climbed the steps, turned, looked at me then disappeared with a noise that woke me up

Has anyone here ever been to a place that was either reputed to be haunted or where they felt a presence?
Chillingham castle, my partner reacted to something in the dungeon and we had to leave. As soon as we were back in the courtyard he was fine and all the other supposedly haunted rooms he was fine.

Bridgend never felt any different to other South Wales towns to me but I only lived there after the events you referenced.

The house of terror in Budapest one of the cells in the basement was colder than the others and felt unpleasant in a way the others didn't. They were used by the Nazis and KGB so probably all had their share of horrendous events.

For those who did the Edinburgh vaults, did you go to Greyfriars Kirkyard? That can be spooky, with a really interesting history.
Some Harry Potter names buried there although JK said it's coincidental.

I've been told I'm a "sensitive," that's why I supposedly picked up on the spirits? ghosts? in my house.
I put it down to my heart beating so fast when I was really ill - that I got up to the same energy as "the other side" and that's why the little boy spirit/ghost tried to communicate with me.
I've been asked by some visitors if my house was haunted, whereas other people couldn't sense anything wrong. They are people who aren't sensitive it turns out.
It isn't an old house either. The worst happened 10 years after the house was built.
The medium who the next door neighbour got round said don't even bother moving as you'll probably meet up with the ones in your next house. At least you know the ones here! 😁🙄
I do feel it’s true that certain people will never see or feel a presence around them because they are not sensitive or tuned into that type of frequency.

i think that’s why some people believe in the paranormal and others just totally dismiss it, because they have never experienced it. I have experienced the paranormal and others few times in my life and seen a ghost (although at the time of seeing him, I just thought he was solid as you or I, there was no shadowy figure or anything of that nature and so it wasn’t until some time after the event, I came to the conclusion I had seen a ghost - this was later corroborated by the people who lived in the house).

I feel special that I have experienced the paranormal and feel chosen. But, I really dislike mediumship as I feel it ultimately it tarnishes the whole idea of people embracing the paranormal. Too many charlatans for my liking.

My mum and I both get very vivid premonitions. It doesn’t happen all the time but you know when it happens and it’s incredible. It’s weird and wonderful.

My friend tentatively asked me how I was asked about fertility etc as earlier in the year I had investigations into recurrent miscarriages.
I’m actually pregnant and I told her and she said she knew because she was out running and just knew I was pregnant, just popped into her head.

Did you have to provide your name/address or sign up for the event? I’m always very sceptical of people who claim to be ‘mediums’.

I went to see the Uncanny: Fear of the Dark show a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. We did the meet & greet as my son is a big fan and felt that Evelyn seemed in a bad mood (as someone else mentioned up thread) and didn’t smile at all. She was very good on stage though.

The only unexplained thing that has happened to me was when I was sitting in my parents’ lounge one night after they had gone to bed. I was in my early 20s, so can remember this very clearly.

I was sitting on the sofa reading the paper, when my mind started wandering about an account I’d read about a television turning itself on in the context of a haunting and thinking it must have been bullshit because it can easily be ascribed to the TV being on standby and an electrical surge. Suddenly, the TV in the lounge switched on and completely freaked me out. My parents were paranoid about house fires and always unplugged/switched off every electrical appliance before going to bed. Sure enough, when I went over to the tele, it was switched off at the mains.

I turned it off using the button and tried to switch it on again, but of course it wouldn’t switch on…because it was switched off at the mains.
😲
I posted on this thread about my TV turning itself on after I'd watched an 'Uncanny' involving a television.
Spooked the shit out of me.
I don't think I've got the 'gift' or anything remotely like that but I think some people are just more attuned to other things going on - notice them.
Also I've wondered about the mind being a sort of portal for some people (I know this sounds barmy) for either nice or nasty things. For instance I could never watch anything very scary or torture films - it gets in my head so much and it seems wierd things can happen. I can't really explain it logically.
