I don’t think I’m buying that one. Maybe if it was an old fashioned bike.

Mind you, the York story reminds me of an incident my mum told me about in York. My whole family went on a trip there and we visited a very old church ( no idea which one, I don’t t remember the incident at all, I was only about 6). She said it was very, very creepy and she could see a dark shape with piercing eyes looking at her so she walked outside, leaving us with my dad so as not to scare us kids.

she said I followed her out, but she never knew if I’d seen/felt it too, as she was pretending to be fine.

I was amazed when she told me this because she’s always been a ‘no such thing as ghosts’ type of person.

I was working in an old building connected to a theatre, I won't say where but it was in the North East. There were several rooms connected and you could see into each from whichever you were in. Colleagues were in the room to my right. It was around 7pm and I saw one of them out the corner of my eye, walking past and going to the furthest room. I looked up and saw a black shape in there rush past the doorway. I asked her what she was doing, as I assumed she had gone past quickly and I hadn't seen properly. She walked from the room to the right and asked what I meant. She hadn't moved at all. I told her what I saw and she said she had seen the same in the far room the week before but thought it was maybe a trick of the light or something.

The next day the same shape crossed the stairs above me when I was walking up there, the feet making noise on the steps. I knew no one was there but me at that time so I said nothing. The next week another colleague I hadn't mentioned this too said she saw a black figure in the hallway and she was really freaked out.

A few days before we left a colleague walked past me to the far room to speak to me and stopped still when she saw me sitting there and said: "...didn't you just walk into that room? I saw someone in black walk in there!!"

The doorway between the 2 main rooms by the staircase would be icy cold in the evenings, despite the heating being on full blast.

Just before we finished our work in that building we asked the owner of the business from the floor below (who was taking the keys from us) if anything spooky had happened to her. She said: "Do you mean the black shape? Oh yeah, all the time, for years. We just ignore it now."

The fact we all said black shape/figure when describing it made it worse 🤣

Not really a ghost story as such, but anyway. My lovely sister's anniversary of her death was a couple days back. As is usual for me, I lit a candle that morning, sat down with a cuppa and had a 'chat' with her. I realise that sounds odd but I get great comfort from it. I asked her to please send me a sign that she was OK... that she was with our other loved-ones who have passed. I then got on with my day.
That afternoon I was preparing the family dinner in the kitchen, with my favourite Spotify playlist blaring from my soundbar. George Michael came on singing Fastlove, and I smiled to myself remembering the fantastic night I had at one of his concerts with my sis - both of us big fans. Suddenly, the volume slowly lowered right down, seemingly of its own accord, till I could hear almost nothing from the speaker! Then, a quite a few moments later, the volume increased again, back to normal. It fairly stopped me in my tracks. I genuinely believe it was my sister trying to communicate with me. There is no other explanation for it tbh. And I have read that spirit will often try to communicate with us via electronic devices.

Wow. If one colleague had mentioned it I guess it would be easy to dismiss, but for them all to say they've seen it, arrrgh scary stuff!

I’m sorry you lost your sister. I totally think you had a sign there.

I’m sorry for the loss of your sister, that definitely seems like a sign from your sister. You should ask for her to show you signs every day or you never know she may be showing you that she’s around everyday already ♥

It was an old fashioned bike in front of a hearse and it’s like time stopped still people who have experienced seeing a spirit will understand you just know anyway you don’t have to believe me I know what I saw was real.

Another spooky story not mine but my dads back a few years ago my uncle passed by not natural incidents can’t say on here anyway three nights in a row before he passed the tv kept going on in middle of night and a cabinet door you have to slide open kept staying

On Friday me and my husband were driving down a lane when a man from the 30s era went past slowly on a bike, we heard the bike bell and definitely saw him the only problem is his skin was grey and sort of see through…. He looked directly at us and it’s creeped me out😅

I stayed in Colchester at the Red lion hotel with my two year old last week, really ancient place, 14th century coaching inn I think. We were in room 10 which is one of the oldest and has the exposed old wattle and daub there behind protective glass. The man on reception did warn me it was one of the haunted ones so I was almost disappointed that I didn’t experience a single chilly feeling or a ghostly-going on, was a fairly comfortable night even though I had to get up a few times and creep about to go to the loo.

But at 7 when my son woke up, he looked at the chair in the corner and said ‘oh, lady gone!’

That’s how it was for me it just went slow and the spirit smiled at me but kinda knew it wasn’t human but looked solid and kind of scruffy

It’s so creepy isn’t it! From a distance he looked like a normal person it was as he got closer he didn’t look quite right.

Something similar has happened to me when I was younger, around 14 so over 20 years ago, I think we were staying at a friends house for a sleepover birthday party and it was down near the beach… we were running around the streets at night being annoying teenagers playing knock and run then a group of us were running off and we ran straight into this ghostly like figure of a fisherman. We screamed and ran home 😂

I don't think @Allflightscancelled was referring to your story about the bike. I think they were referring to something I had posted from the Daily Mail about a bike caught moving on CCTV a post or so after yours.

That is true, I was. Thanks @FenellaTheWitch, and sorry if I offended. Totally understand that you know what you saw @Poggypig, and don’t dismiss your experience AT ALL.

if you’ve read my faery type experience upthread you’ll know I’ve had an experience of my own that most people dismiss as nonsense, so I’d never doubt yours or anyone else’s 😂

Omg I stayed there a couple of years ago and had an experience and had totally forgotten about it until now! So I am a scaredy cat and requested a non haunted room, and they said they dont really have a non haunted room but one they haven't had activity in (they had hauntings of a woman and also 2 children). So we stayed there a few nights, had our dog with us (he's the reason we stayed there, the only available dog friendly accommodation at that time) and figured if there was something creepy, he would alert us. Nothing. Until the last day. I had brought along dog toys and when we were packing up, we couldn't find any of the dogs toys. We emptied the room of our luggage, looked under everything , checked in the bedding, nothing. I politely asked and said something along the lines of little ones, I know you've probably got my dogs toys but he loves them and would want them back. I kid you not, they appeared on the floor, not in the middle but in a very obvious place, there's no way we wouldn't have seen them. The dog didn't react at all to anything whatsoever, even then, so I'm guessing if there was something, it was pretty chilled

Oh my god! Yeah, I think the reason I was chilled about staying there was the reported ghosts all seemed pretty benign 😅 even so, I’m glad it was daylight when my boy piped up that there’d been a ghostly lady in the room, and not the middle of the night!

Yeah, nothing was at all scary or dramatic but still didn't fancy coming face to face with one. That's so weird! How creepy, but sweet. Did you see the weird thing in the dining room? The wax child dummy thing?

Errrrr, no, I did not! That’s a shame, I would have liked to! We went to the downstairs dining room for breakfast, and I didn’t see anything like that, but I did see the boarded up door to a servant’s room. Reportedly it was blocked off in the late 1800’s because the owner of the building then kept getting so scared of seeing the ghost of a murdered maid go in and out of it.

Everytime I’ve seen a spirit on bike they always have a bell on their bike the bikes very old fashioned they also have those things on their bike and they always go past verrrrrry slow and they just stare at us Uou know it’s not a human it’s hard to explain everytime I’ve seen one of the bikes they have these old fashioned bags on them it’s crazy other people have experienced the same thing I thought I was going crazy
