Just thinking....... The odds must be high of us living in a home that someone has previously died in......
Do you wonder about or know about a previous owner or tenant died in your home? Or would it deter you from moving into a property if you knew the previous occupent died there?
I wonder how people who have inherited the family home now the parents have died feel living there?
The house I lived in for 10 years with my mam had someone die in it, previous owner. When we first went to look at the house (I was 7) I saw him & told my mam I don’t like this house. Had a lot of odd experiences there even when I go to visit now I still don’t feel comfortable in the house at all

My mother saw a banshee when she was younger. She heard a tapping/knocking on her bedroom window and when she pulled back the curtains it was there staring at her 😳 pale face, long black hair and a hat. A few days later her BIL died. I only spoke to her about it recently as it was a story we grew up with and always thought Mom heard the screeching, I think the tapping on the window (not a bungalow) has creeped me out more.
Jesus Christ. My nan told me about them when I was a girl & when I was home with her n grandad fkr the summer we heard wailing, next morning found out someone had taken there life nearby & she just said that was the banshee last night I told you.
I didn’t sleep for a week 😂

Just been shitting myself listening to radio 4xtra. The narrator was explaining what a banshee was and people's experiences of them
Saying they sit on your windowsill and I always sleep with my curtains open. Think I'll start shutting them at night 😅

Talking of banshees, my neighbours kept ferrets in a hutch in the garden, and they used to wail . It was a really otherworldly, creepy noise . I reckon some people who claim to have heard a banshee have actually heard ferrets.

After watching Salem’s Lot, I’ve never had curtains open or looked out of the window after dark!

I've just remembered. My childhood home used to beling to the a leader of a smugglers gang. The leader was hanged, and they took his body back to the house and laid him out on the dining room table.
When I was about three, it was just me and my mother in the house, my dad was out, and I said "mummy who are those men talking upstairs?"
Another time my mum was doing the washing up in the same house, when she suddenly felt something in her hair. She felt around, and then picked out a drawing pin! Then she continued to wash up, and these drawing pins kept being put in her hair! She lined them all up on the work surface next to her. It was an alleyway kitchen, and the drawing pins were kept on the door at the other end of the kitchen...

Not 100% sure if this is the right thread for this but I figured I may find some like minded people who have more knowledge than me…

We went to view a house today and they let me film it so I could show my partner as he was working. When we’ve watched the video back the bedroom door (carpeted room) closes on its own whilst I’m inside the room. (Also no windows etc open)

I messaged one of my friends who’s mum is quite spiritual and she said it may be trying to close me in because it likes me and wants me to stay?!

Am I right to be slightly terrified …

I'm bringing this back up just to say that my bathroom door has started closing on its own literally in the last week or so. However I believe it is because of the heating and the weather. The door is wooden and has a tendency to expand and contract.

Think I posted at the beginning of this thread about the flat I now live in. A really old listed building, possibly built in the 11th century but can’t find the actual build date anywhere, it is stated that a family lived here up until the 13th century before being taken by another family, so it was definitely built before that. My husband bought it before we met and it has been rented out for the past 5 years or so while we lived abroad.
We’ve been in here properly for about 4 months now and I’m sure we’re not alone 😂 Although after a few little happenings when we first moved back in I went around the place with sage spray and said aloud that I only wanted positive energies around us. Since this we’ve decided that whoever is here with us if a friendly being and have decided it’s a ‘she’, don’t ask me why!
She likes to mute and unmute the TV quite often, when we’ve turned the TV off in the living room to go to bed we’ve walked into the bedroom and the TV in there has turned itself on as we walk in. On our remote control there’s no TV guide button and a couple of times I’ve sat muttering to myself that the TV guide button must be somewhere, then the guide has appeared on the TV by itself.
Another time I couldn’t find my hair straighteners anywhere, gave up looking and went to the bathroom, walked back in the bedroom and there they are in the middle of the bed, on top of white sheets so I definitely would have seen them on the bed if they were there before. When I’m alone here I definitely feel like I can see things out of the corner of my eye, and feel that I’m not alone.
So far nothing menacing which I’m really happy about. I’ve said I don’t mind sharing a home with a friendly ghost as long as they don’t do anything to freak me out too much!

I don’t have any blinds of curtains in my room I just haven’t bothered to put them up since I moved in, in April lol 😂 it doesn’t bother me I often wake up with a full moon blaring in at me and I always get a feeling to get up and look out the window onto my street. One day I’ll probably see something but for now I feel okay with it 😃

I worked in a hospital and have been in an empty room one minute of a night shift where everything is fine, to go back in and find chairs turned the other way around (no one else had been in there - I’d gone to get something out of the empty bay)
I’ve seen/heard quite a few things working in healthcare so I’ll have to write them out and post them 😀

edited to add - I’m also very interested in the paranormal and completely open about believing in it which many people find weird! I’m enjoying reading these stories too!

So to carry on some of the things I’ve seen/heard:
I’ve been sat at the nursing station one evening about 7pm and the foyer lights came on (they come on automatically when someone enters) and I turned and saw a tall man in navy blue trousers and a shirt walk into the men’s bathroom…I went to the foyer to see if it was a visitor and it had gone dark, and the light in the men’s bathroom (also automatic) was off! No one left the bathroom and we had no visitors signed in at the time. Also to clarify our front doors are locked so anyone who needs to arrive either has to have a badge, or to ring the doorbell.

Another one:
I was counting medication in with a colleague in the meds room, and we had a radio plugged in that was on top of the fridge. About a minute later the radio goes flying and the plug rips out the wall! I picked the radio up thinking it’s completely broken and plugged it back in and the cd starts playing normally! It went with such a force I was convinced it’d have been completely bust! (for context when we opened the cupboard doors the radio was a good 7 inches lower than the cupboard so it couldn’t have been hit by the door and it had been in the same place for months and months and had never been knocked by the doors).

I also have a couple of personal stories so here’s one! I was getting ready for school one day about 15 years ago now, and was in the dining room on the computer as I had half an hour spare before I had to leave. Anyway, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye and turn to see a figure running down the stairs to the front door! I went to the front door and bottom of the stairs and there was no one there at all! I described the thing I saw (a small older lady with short hair in a nighty running in a panic) and my mum was convinced it was my Nan (her mum) who had died years earlier.

I have more stories so I’ll post them another time🙂. The funny thing is I wasn’t scared when these things happened, I was more intrigued and like WTF!

Keep the stories coming!

Hospitals at night are seriously creepy places. It's like any large building or office that is usually really busy during the day, they become very eerie when they're quiet.

I work in a different setting now but still in healthcare, and I completely agree! Hospitals are so eerie at night!
I was sent to take samples to the lab on a night shift as a student and had to use a certain stairwell in the hospital where people have seen/heard things, and I felt like I was being watched it was so spooky!

Yeah, I've always thought I'd have a complete meltdown if I ever saw a ghost and the house would be on purple bricks before the ghost could disappear! However, my friend said she got up in the middle of the night one time and was doing her business on the toilet when she looked in the corner and saw a woman just standing there but she just felt really calm and she just sort of faded away. I always remember this story everytime I get up now in the middle of the night. Now why anyone would want to watch someone on the john is beyond me!

A few other staff members have experienced stuff where I work now, and some get really creeped which I can understand!
I think I’d tell them to bugger off if I was on the loo and they watched me 😂😂😂
