Government consultation on ticket office closures has instructed TOCs not to go ahead with their plans, which is a unexpected result!

Also I hear some TOCs have managed to get ASLEF to bring back rest day working which not only should reduce day to day cancellations but I suspect might hamper their chances of reballoting for further strike action when the mandate runs out.

It was only certain TOCs that didn't have RDW agreements in place. A lot still have them for Drivers.
We always have had RDW and guaranteed rostered RDW (obviously suspended in the Action Short of Strike weeks)

If I had to predict the next round I'd say they will be in the run up to Christmas, 22nd and 23rd of December since 24th is a Sunday.

Also maybe the week before 14th/15th/16th as that will disrupt christmas parties etc. That's what I'm assuming anyway as that's what happened last year.

I can’t believe they still haven’t resolved this. My partner hasn’t had a payrise in over four years and it’s ridiculous.
And the “no one travels by train” thing they keep saying is a load of crap. My commuter train to/from Euston every morning is full and standing

I’m a management grade and they’re constantly offering me extra pay if I learn safety critical roles such as train manager and dispatch and are willing to pay for me to have hotels up and down the country on strike days to do contingency work.
shame they can’t offer this money to the actual people who do the roles

🚨🚨🚨 RMT and Rail Delivery Group agree pay deal to be put to RMT members 🚨🚨🚨

Should mean no further RMT action in the mean time and if accepted would end that part of the strikes, not sure on ASLEF progress.

More Aslef Strike and work to rule.

Maximum pact by spreading the strikes over a week alternating Tocs
First Sunday action short of strike, which for members whose Sunday is overtime/outside the working week losing that plus a strike day won't make for a nice Christmas pay packet

Honestly the main tactic is that the appetite within ASLEF membership has waned and I think there would be uproar if these were blanket strikes across the network. There has been a bit of infighting with even local reps moaning about the previous level of strike action costing them, at least at my TOC. Train drivers earn a lot but it doesn't mean they don't live to (or beyond) their means. One of the first things noted when the ASLEF strike mandate was announced was a lot of the fancy PCP cars disappeared from the staff car parks.

My brother is a train driver and the sheer entitlement he has is ridiculous. Clearly thinks he is better/more important than every other rail worker.
It will be a huge piss take if drivers get bigger percentage pay increase than RMT members.
I know a lot of drivers and they’re all far from struggling. Can’t say the same for the RMT members I know. A lot of them are on about £25k compared to the 70k+ the drivers get

Sipport for union is def waning at depots
Pretty sure this mandate only runs for another month or so (was voted in in June) so just waiting to see if that reflects in the recent ballot

Which company
Its not strike action on 9th for any TOC so there will be trains running, but they will be running to a pre advertised reduced timetable
(how reduced will depend on the TOC and how much they normally rely on Rest Day working)

Potentially a few extra cancellations on the day if any disruption/late notice sickness etc, as there will be less resource to cover this on the day
