TBH I still don't think Tom has a clue who he is or what he wants outside of his career. He got with Lance while he was still a teenager and grieving his Dad. I imagine he was probably quite sexually inexperienced as his whole life up to that point had been about training and his commitment to his career. Lance was much older and introduced him to his weird Hollywood life.
Of course there are loads of couples who opt to be in open relationships and that's absolutely their business, but there is something really seedy and dark about the circles that Lance has./had mixed in
It's also doesn't gel with the devoted, hands-on dad of two/ children's author/ knitter thing Tom has going on.
It's all very confused.

Tom is an arrogant little twat but I feel that he was groomed by the odious Lance.
I wonder what his family really think of their relationship?

I mean I get it, if I was an olympic athlete, I'd celebrate the games by getting my arse passed around the athletes village so much you could host the diving in my flooded, gaping hole. 😆😆

As a crafter something that really annoys me about Tom is that if it was a female athlete who was into knitting and making olypmic themed jumpers I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid but everyone fawns over Tom. He has made it his entire personality!

I mean, some people might want to sell their organs, but we don’t let them do that either.

At what point does buying a child become trafficking? 1 month? 6 months?

This is tragic! Going for Bowie x Harry Styles, looking like Elton x an Oompa Loompa .. the baggy trousers over a platform boot are horrific … he somehow manages to still look short and stocky in 5 inch heels 😂
They both are just so slappable. Not sure which one I would smack first!

I think he started off okay people thought he was rather cute and of course he was very talented at his sport, but he has got up people's noses, with his posturing and his knitting.
His posturing and kniting may have hacked people of ,however it is repellent defense of males participating in female sport that has enraged and disgusted most right minded people.

Hands up who thinks in 4 years the story will be “my kids begged Daddy to do one more Olympics and I just couldn’t let them down!” 🙄

I do not knit ( I crochet for stress management), but have been looking at opinions of his work of the reddit craft subs. People seem very split on if he is a good knitter or not, pointing out how good some elements of his work are, but also somethings that he needs to work on.

This would not be an issue if he portrayed himself as an enthusiastic amateur or hobby knitter. However, he is selling books on how to knit, and knitting kits.

People are also annoyed at how expensive his knitting kits are, £90 despite supposedly being for beginners.

And the fact that a lot of his knitting pictures double as weird thirst traps.

....

I agree with comments about his outfits. He always looks like a child playing dress up in clothes to big for him. Nothing wrong with flamboyant outfits, but you need a certain type of swagger and charisma to pull them off and he just doesn't have it.
Bit like Sam Smith who wears outrageous outfits but looks a right knob as he doesn't pull them off.

Oh I realise that, but his partner admitted to being glad he met Tom when Tom was at a difficult point in his life which to me seemed off

I also know/have known several gay couples with age gap relationships and every single one had a kind of controlling dynamic to it, and still does in the cases who are still together. There always seems to be an imbalance.

Sick of seeing his smug face everywhere! And people fawning over him like he's the first man ever to knit!

I'm imagining that the GB diving team would be relieved that he is going back to Lala Land and not competing anymore, given how much attention has been on him for most of diving element with them cutting to him knitting in the stands and banging on about his family.

I have only just found out that the second bought child is a boy! Due to the middle name I had always assumed a girl. They are a horrible couple. I cannot stand Daley with his bullshit he comes out with.

So Tom's PR released that he was retiring as Team GB were on the Eurostar home so basically the BBC would swarm St Pancras to talk to him ignoring everyone else in the team?

I'm unsure of what I think about Tom. I think he came to public attention much too young, was slightly over exposed and naive and I think its arrested his development.

It's mind boggling that he has children when he hasn't really had a life of his own.

There are so many contradictory stories. I hear about him shagging half of gay London, but then there are never any pics or concrete accounts of this. On the one hand he seems to have a typical gay social life, but on the other hand he has actual children at home.

Everything seems so shady and secretive. Even on this thread, there are allusions to stories about why he really left his school, and what goes on during training.

I think Tom will one day be hit by a real scandal that will end any hopes of a media career. I have no solid reason to think this.

It's a shame about his current image of wearing make up, knitting and dressing like Lady Gaga in 2010. It doesn't suit him. He's rushed into married life with children and yet seems stuck at that awkward teenager stage.

None of it makes sense!
He bought children and rented women's bodies.
Urgggh.

A few days ago I saw some pictures of him knitting on Facebook. He was wearing a tight little white top and showing off his muscles.

This is exactly how we all knit/crochet right? In a performative thirst trap way.

I am currently working on my crochet whilst standing in front of my window in a bikini. I do hope my neighbours see that I can be sexy and do a hobby at the same time....

Tom is still being quoted about the unfairness of men not being allowed to take part in women’s elite athletics in the light of the announcement yesterday,

I read an interview with Dustin Lance Black earlier this year and this paragraph struck me as a bit odd at the time - it's in response to a question about whether he & Tom feel pressure to be gay role-models:

"If anything, I think I’m self-conscious of how, like, heteronormative we are,” Black begins, before explaining that heteronormative is not a word he likes using as it feels judgmental. “But we are a little bit. We really love having kids and doing all the family things that, you know, Norman Rockwell would have approved of. But Tom and I know how to have fun outside of parenthood as well. We work hard, we should play hard. But I do not pay attention to other people’s opinions of me or my family any more.”

It seems a bit like he views even doing "normal" family things as a political statement in some way about het/gay roles - and can't resist getting in the suggestive, seedy bit about how he and Tom know how to "have fun" outside parenthood and both "play hard" - almost as if to say "it's ok that we play at happy families because when the sun goes down, we're both out there fucking around with the best of them". What you do in your own free time is fine, as long as it's consensual, but why make such a point of telling the world about it? I think he either sees himself as a slightly-militant spokesperson for all the gays of the world, or is desperate to ensure they come across as edgy gays who are still part of the lifestyle.

Also, the final sentence reads slightly off, to me: "I do not pay attention to other people's opinions of me or my family any more". It's subtle, but why not say "us or our family"? It gives me the ick as it's low-key possessive (seeing the kids as "his", not "ours") , and doesn't acknowledge any separation between himself and Tom/the kids as people in their own right. I think a lot of male family annihilators talk about their family in the same way, which is what's setting my spidey senses tingling.

I was just imagining if my "heteronormative" next door neighbours Dave & Emma said to me over a cuppa. "oh we really love having kids and doing normal family things... but we do know how to have fun outside parenthood as well... we work hard, we should play hard". 🤣 🤣 It just sounds bloody weird when you take it out of the Hollywood/Celeb context.
