I don't like how they always talk about his diving partners like they don't matter.

They either forgot to mention them, making it sound like he somehow he did a solo pairs dive, or they mention them as an after thought.

Tom Daley wins bronze for team GB in pairs diving. Being a father has inspired him to dive again. He is so hot and sexy and smart and modest, he even knits! Did we mention he knits....... anyway his partner was some guy, anyway enough about him. Back to Daley.

Each to their own. I feel it commodifies women’s bodies reduces them to a ‘womb for rent’ ,is inherently risky to women and will affect women who are socioeconomically vulnerable. It’s rarely altruistic and seems to prioritise the ‘right’ of gay men to have children and essentially creates an industry of human beings for sale.
Commercial surrogacy is a disturbing thing. I loved tan france, but he is another to go down that route, and it really does put me about. Not because it’s two men or whatever, but because it’s so transactional. It’s not creating life, it feels like buying a new car almost, or a custom suit. and the egg donor and carrier who are female get ignored in all this. It’s all ‘our baby’ when all they had to do was have a wank.
It’s not about genetics being passed on for me, despite what they say, because gay men stll need an egg. It’s about perfect. Which even straight couples who concieve normally don’t have control over.
but perfect is also why so many chose not to adopt, there’s not many children that can be guaranteed perfect when so little is often known about a child’s experience. Not only that, but if they adopted in many countries, the assessments are stringent and leaked stories in the press don’t help pass those……. And you can’t exactly go flaunting an adopted child for freebies. Well, you can, but who wants a birth parent turning up at the pride of Britain awards saying you’ve stolen their kid? Doesn’t do the image any good 🤷🏻‍♀️
then again, I’ve no doubt Tom and Dustin’s kid will be shoved out being a nepo kid at some stage and maybe it’s better for it to have their genes then no other poor sod can be blamed if they turn out like Brooklyn beckham.

He’s also a very mediocre knitter - but the way people blow smoke up his arse you’d think he was the only bloke who ever picked up needles. He’s fond of posing with other (women, obviously) designers work and giving the impression it’s his, including that ‘Pride’ scarf which was actually designed and made by Katie Jones.

He is a selfish pr*ck to be honest. Does’t care about how female athletes feel about the unfairness.
Agree. He needs to stick to his risable knitting, shut his gob and keep his nose out of female athletes business, which has absolutely nothing to do with him.

I'm unsure of what I think about Tom. I think he came to public attention much too young, was slightly over exposed and naive and I think its arrested his development.

It's mind boggling that he has children when he hasn't really had a life of his own.

There are so many contradictory stories. I hear about him shagging half of gay London, but then there are never any pics or concrete accounts of this. On the one hand he seems to have a typical gay social life, but on the other hand he has actual children at home.

Everything seems so shady and secretive. Even on this thread, there are allusions to stories about why he really left his school, and what goes on during training.

I think Tom will one day be hit by a real scandal that will end any hopes of a media career. I have no solid reason to think this.

It's a shame about his current image of wearing make up, knitting and dressing like Lady Gaga in 2010. It doesn't suit him. He's rushed into married life with children and yet seems stuck at that awkward teenager stage.

None of it makes sense!

Let’s take a moment and remember Tom Daley is known for wearing speedos. Not for his brains. He is just stupid.

All the media focusing on all the different olympians coming home and celebrating their success...Tom Daley walks through customs and immediately announces publicly his retirement.

Never change Tom and always make sure everyone in the team gets their moment to shine

I'm baffled as to what a 38 year old man would see in an 18 year old boy. I can understand from Tom's point of view, in the midst of grieving for his father and perhaps wanting the stability of a relationship with an older man. But what the hell was Lance thinking.

It also creeps me out that he said "Will you be my boyfriend" to Tom on their second date. What grown 38 year old man talks like that?! Unless you're fully aware you're talking to someone significantly less mature than you are.

Why does he have the dress sense of a middleaged mum at Christmas office party?

I'm a gothy older woman and I wouldn't even wear that.

Is it deliberate to try and bust the myth of all gay men being stylish dressers?

Mind you having just popped over from the West End thread it's giving Tom Francis in Sunset Boulevard...but unlike most i don't find him remotely attractive either.

I find how much Toms mum seems to live with them kinda weird. There’s been times when I think she’s appeared to spend far more time with Lance than Tom has. Can Lance not manage the kids on his own?! They are constantly out at events & travelling even when Toms not competing/training. I’ve long commented that they don’t remotely live the lives of regular parents!
In his interview this morning, he gave full credit to Lance for stepping up for the kids and allowing him to focus on his training. No mention of his Mum at all, which I thought was quite a slap in the face for her. I’d have been fuming in her position.

He's become an insufferable lit
I think he encourages it and is probably stage managing his career behind the scenes

It's interesting how when you consider how high profile tom daley had been, he has really struggled to grow his 5 mins of fame into the media career he so clearly desperately wants. All he seems to have to offer is his body in speedos
and banging on about trans rights for men in womens sport.

i feel for him in this aspect. he had absolutely no opportunity to explore himself and what he really wanted and was in deep grief when he met his creepy husband at a weird party. DLB has actually said that tom was vulnerable when they met, surely any other older man would back off then?

it doesn’t surprise me that he wants to return to diving. it’s probably always been a safe space and is obviously deeply intertwined with his memories of his dad.
He's in his late 20's and has bought two babies.
Just no.
Lots of us go through hard times, without the backup of money, we don't behave horribly unethically, and then campaign for others to do it.
He can get in the bin with his shit knitting.

Ego, wanting to have created a mini version of one of them and also so they can claim, as a defiant same-sex couple, that "we made a baby".
They need the vanity of reproducing themselves.

Perhaps Tom could have just knitted them a baby 🙄

He is creepy. If Tom was female and they were married with the 20 year age gap, imagine the headlines… It’s always felt very groomy to me!
For me the issue isn't the age gap, but how and when they met. Tom was very young, still coming to terms with sexuality, had lost his dad and in a high pressure sport.

I swear there's an interview somewhere with lance and he admits Tom was at a low/vulnerable point when they met. It just seems like someone older taking advantage.

I'm just really pissed off because people are sharing his stupid posts about his stupid jumpers in the knitting groups I'm in and fawning over him because he's a man and he's knitting.

What annoys me is it instantly goes feminine for men and make up. Not all gay guys are feminine, not all straight guys are masculine. If you're going to go the route of make up for men, be more diverse in who represents your brand.

Pisses me off how the media/society seem to think there is only one way of being gay
Exactly. It is just so regressive to stereotype people this way - whatever happened to self-expression and the freedom to be yourself 🙄

I assume she does it willingly because the alternative is her grandchildren being brought up by nannies. There's no way two adults following high profile careers by day and swinging by night have much time to spend with tiny children. And as for Tom's hobby being knitting, something which keeps both hands occupied for hours is not a hobby you're doing whilst meeting the needs of young children. It's so fake.
