I should’ve clarified I had all intention of cooking their dinner afterwards time just got on with me trying to sleep that there wasn’t the time to cook what id planned

alls good, they’ve had weetabix with banana, toast and yoghurt and a bath and they’re happily reading books on the bed

But you having a nap shouldn't come before cooking them food? That should be first.
Do you not have a partner who could've cooked something filling whilst you rested. I understand the exhaustion but cooking a meal would always come before anyone else's needs.

Sorry I don't think you'll get the understanding you're looking for here..

Yeah I do but he was out this afternoon. No worries, I needed a vent I thought this would be the best place to do it, I thought wrong.

Ive poured myself a G&T and I’ll be grabbing an early night. Tomorrow is a new day 😊

I'm sorry you've had a crappy day. Get yourself some sleep and enjoy that drink!

Day 7 of potty training and it's going ok? Only one or two big wee accidents since Tuesday (day 2) although a few times her knickers have been damp because she's not quite managed to hold it in until she gets to the potty properly. Couple of really good poos on the potty (and a couple in her knickers haha), although no poo today which is a concern as she's got a history of constipation and I'm hoping that's not rearing it's weird head again!
She's nearly 3 and a half, so I feel that we have to just keep going and hope the accidents get less over time. I don't think we can go back now :ROFLMAO:
I think it sounds like she’s doing perfectly. A few damp spots are always expected, and poo can certainly be an experience 🫠🫠 sounds like she has cracked the back of it.

Hope anyone who is finding what schools your little ones are going to gets the one they want
Mine got in our first choice which I’m pleased about
They have a great send team which is the main reason we picked and it’s two mins from our house

such a nerve wracking process. Got third choice for our eldest three years ago and this time next year I’ll be finding out my youngest 🤢 schools are so oversubscribed here it is literally carnage on admissions day

I’m not sure why I read this and my heart dropped when I thought I’d missed out, then I remembered she’s not even 2 yet 🤣

Blimey, what age do your kids start school? Or is this what is called reception?

Genuinely curious as most kids in Scotland don't start school until they're usually 5. You do get some kids turning 5 in the first term though.

It is reception. Mines at nursery full time so it’ll be no different for him really he’s already used to 5 days a week.

Oh god really. We put all three down as ones we would have been happy with. We got him christened as well just to be double sure as all three schools are catholic
I’m dreading him starting 🫠. He’s going to be going once a week soon to get used to the new environment. This is the sencos advice

Reception they start at 4. So from September-August, they will start at 4 and finish at 5. Not sure if you do the same sep-aug??

this will be me next year! Mini A 1st choice will be the primary school we live a 1 min walk away from.

It’s an amazing school but she will start when she’s 4.5 so I think she will be more than ready!

This is also me next year, but my boy is already at the school, so he should get in. He starts nursery there is Sept, and even though it doesn’t mean he will get a school place, I’m certain he will. He will also be 5 when he starts reception, as his birthday is beginning of Sept 😭 he’s been in preschool since he was 2.4mths and full time preschool since after Christmas, so he is also ready for it!

Kids here go into primary 1 which is that first year of primary school. Most kids are usually 5 but the cut off is usually Jan/Feb of the year they start. So kids can start school in August at just over 4.5 (like I did many years ago). It is becoming popular to defer Jan/Feb born children until the following year intake.

So Big Biscuit had some kids in his class celebrating their 6th birthdays two months ago. He also attending parties for classmates turning 5 last December.

There's also new guidance coming in where parents can choose to defer their child if they are not 5 by August of the year they're supposed to start school. Personally I don't see that working as it's very likely parents will have to self-fund that extra time in nursery (if the decision to defer isn't partly based on a recommendation by the nursery and education department).

ETA our school year runs August-June.

Bet you're glad you (didn't) ask 😂

God, that is so confusing 😂 I believe you can defer a year if they are really young/just turned 4. My 3yo could’ve been an august baby, and if that was to be the case, I’d have sent him just turned 4. I don’t think I’d have deferred…

To be honest I've probably made it even more confusing 😂 Both my kids will be in the middle but kids born in Jan/Feb are either the oldest or youngest in their year. There's also a good mix of both. As mentioned above, Big Biscuit attended two classmates' birthday parties in one weekend. One was turning 6 and the other was turning 5 😂

In NI our school year runs July - June (so as a July birthday I was eldest in my year)
Our kids are eligible to start school if they have turned 4 the school year before. So some kids could start at 4y 2 months, some could be 5 when they start if they have a summer birthday.
You can now defer if your child was born April - June.
