Tired tired tired and tonsillitis has struck me 😭 mini A hasn’t slept well all week, she’s been full of a cold and bad cough. Which in turn I’ve not slept well.. she’s hardly ate much in the last few days just managing bits of stuff. She’s not slept past 6:15am since Sunday and she’s just exhausted. I’m exhausted so i dread to think how she feels. Due to early wake up I’ve been putting her to bed at 7.15 so she’s asleep for 7.30-7.35ish but I’m wondering if it’s too early and it’s causing her to be awake early (but she’s waking up at 6am and it’s a longgggggg day for a 3 year old)??

She usually is asleep for 7:40pm when she’s well, and she sleeps soundly until 7am, sometimes 7:15am.

I think she’s waking up early cos she’s starving but she’s not managing much 😫 just hope she perks up soon and has a proper sleep which I hope will help.. doesn’t help there’s nobody else to take over the nights and I’ve had complete broken sleep allllll week.. her dads been doing overtime at work amd
He didn’t come mid week like he usually does to see her so I didn’t even get a break! Thankfully she’s at her dads tomorrow morning till Sunday till 3pm so I can get a long sleep without being interrupted 🤞🏻
Probably cos she’s not well but 730 til 6am is a good sleep!!!! Mine sleeps like that every night. He always gets up when my alarm goes off bless him at 6. He has a “lie in” til 640 on my days off but always wakes up usually anyway. Sorry but 6 am is not exactly early for a 3 year old. Hope she’s feeling better soon

i know it’s not early for a 3 year old but she generally sleeps 7:40pm to 7am if not past 7am some mornings! I guess for my child it’s early as she’s not a early morning riser!

This week she’s just been waking herself up coughing which I don’t think has helped 😩 she’s exhausted from it all and the early wake ups. Hope tonight she sleeps better it’s just awful when they’re full of a cold and cough 😴

They never sleep the same when they’re not well. She’ll be back to normal when she feels better

If she usually sleeps at 7.40 and is currently sleeping at 7.30 I don’t think 10 mins is really going to change her sleep pattern that much. She’s just sick, and sometimes they don’t sleep well then.

6am-7.30pm isn't a long day for a 3 year old really.
My 2 year old gets up at 5am and goes to bed around 6.30 and she's fine.
Unfortunatley don't get a chance for a break or lay in myself though

10/10 recommend a cool mist humidifier for when they’ve got a cough and cold, honestly it was a game changer for us.
Tbh if she usually sleeps at 7.40 and you’re putting her down at 7.30 but she’s waking up an hour earlier, maybe she’s overtired and you need to bring bedtime earlier until she’s better? Mine is almost 2, so significantly younger (so might not be applicable sorry!) but her bedtime is 7, and if she hasn’t napped or woke up way earlier than usual, I put her down at 6, and she usually goes down easier and doesn’t wake any earlier as she sleeps worse if she’s overtired. Might be worth a try?

Don’t know how they’re not knackered, 6am - 7.30pm is a long day for me and I’ve got 25 years on a 3 year old 🤣🤣🤣

I am 😂 constantly 😂
As soon as the oldest is in bed, I'm in bed 😂
My partner works nights so he's asleep until they're in bed and doesn't get home until 9/10am either 😂

I’ve started falling asleep when I put her to bed and currently blaming pregnancy exhaustion but I fully plan on carrying on with the early nights for the foreseeable 🤣

This is similar to me. My partner works long days. On the days ours goes to nursery he drops him off and then works til 7/8 pm. He is self employed so works around nursery and my shifts. So every night I put ours to bed and usually at weekends when I work Saturdays he’ll go to work at 330 when I get home depending if he is busy. Then more often than not works Sundays too. I’m usually led in bed at 8 pm as I have a physical job ( walk 28000 steps a day )

His work week starts on a Friday night too so he works the weekends!
The kids rarely get to see him.

Oh I don't know how you manage that. We went to London yesterday and I did just over 25k steps and I still hurt this morning 🤣
My partner wore my fitness band to work a few nights and he does about 30-35k steps a night.
Don't know how he does it 😂

He is the same as that too. they have the morning together and then Saturdays when I’m working. I get 2 Saturdays off out of 6. So usually one of those weekends we’ll do something all together
No I’m not sure how I manage it sometimes. I sleep really well most nights

I love an early night. I am usually asleep before 10 most nights when I’m working sometimes earlier. 1030 is a late night for me 😂😂😂

its the first time she’s been unwell like this for so long!

I’ve got a Vicks humidifier she has on all night atm and it helps. The best purchase ever when she waa a baby! She has it on a lot even when she’s well cos the white noise from it helps her go to sleep anyway! I usually turn it off when I go to bed.

Just lost it with my 3 year old and feel awful. It’s very rare I shout at her like I did but we’ve had 5 nights of broken sleep, she’s exhausted, not listening.

Put her in bed at 20 past, read a book, cuddles etc and then suddenly she needs a wee (fair enough), planned for her to be asleep for 7:30pm, 7:35pm.. then she said her bears need a wee, they all need a drink, she’s literally screaming they need a wee and I just lost it. She’s only just gone to sleep cos of pissing around and she’s gunna be up early yet again. I hate these weeks so bad when she just doesn’t listen and it just feels like a tit show! I am drained this week. I’ll miss her when she’s at her Dads but I’ve honestly had enough and can’t wait for a break 😫

40 minutes to get a child to sleep isn’t bad. Sounds like you might both need a break from each other?

It can be frustrating when bedtimes aren’t what you’d like, I’ve had times when my patience is tested and I don’t react well either. Especially when you’re tired already. But try to remember that - like us as adults - little ones aren’t robots and may not be 100% ready to go to to sleep just because the clock says they are.

She’s usually soo so so good with bedtime and I never really have any issues. When she’s “well” its never any trouble and the odd time she messes around but not as much as tonight. It’s usually ipad away at 7:20, book and bed. Asleep for 7:35-7:40 and never any trouble.

She was just delaying it for NO reason at all and when she’s so overtired along with having broken sleep since Saturday night. Just had enough this week and need to rant 😂 sometimes I just think why the duck did I want to become a parent?! I love my child more than life but my word. This week 🙃 I wouldn’t mind but I don’t have anyone to share the load with during the week. It’s hard work when I’m trying to remain calm and remember it’s very rare she’s like this! KIDS.

I’m out with the girls tomorrow night and I can’t wait to drink my body weight in wine and vodka and for it to help numb my sore throat and I can sleep till 10am with nobody waking me up😂🥲

Omg my toddler chats tit at bedtime anything from 30 mins- an hour and a half 🤣 I just know full well to not expect a quick bedtime. Even when he’s not napped all day he’ll start telling me how cars have wheels and he likes blackcurrant jam

Tbf blackcurrant jam is absolutely amazing, and very underrated.

As frustrating as it is, it’s only half an hour she’s stayed up extra
My 3 yo is currently going through the same, and moans of the cats on his bed and last night he needed a tissue. I put him to sleep, give him a kiss and walk out the room. If he messes about, I’ll ignore it, unless he’s really crying
I’ve never read books with any of my kids. I’ve literally put them down, walked out and closed the door. Maybe try this if she’s still playing up. And if she is poorly, if you haven’t, give her some calpol. As adults, we know how tit and upsetting it is when we have a slight sniffle and can’t breathe through our noses
