Touch wood she's not scratching them but she does have a temp and seems extra grumpy today
Straight after scarlet fever.. just can't catch a break 😭

Just back from urgent care. My daughter has tonsillitis. This is after being told she’s completely well by the doctor yesterday. Was prescribed penicillin but they didn’t have any at the chemist so have got erythromycin. We were lucky to get that, the pharmacist said she’s been going home crying every night this week as has no antibiotics to give some days.

Feel so bad for her. She woke up today unable to open her eye because of all the gunk and we spent another 3 hours up there waiting to be seen (which is actually a very good waiting time so I’m grateful for that). Had to then go to the pharmacist to be sent back to urgent care to change the prescription. We got home an hour ago and she’s had all her medicine abit of yoghurt and straight into bed. I’m exhausted

I just had a little cry. My husband went out to his training (he does martial arts) and everything feels overwhelming. Nothing particular, the 2.5 year old is playing nicely and I just put the baby down for a nap, but sometimes it’d just be nice to not be needed for everything 24/7. I’m so grateful for my children, my husband keeps asking “ tell me what we should change” but it’s one of these things where there’s no real solution? It’s just how it is, being a mom I guess 🤷‍♀️ Like how can he not notice the baby needs a diaper change? Or the oldest needs her nose cleaned 🙄 I don’t know, no real point to this rant haha, we’ve discussed such things several times and he always says he’ll be better. I just wished sometimes I could be the dad 🥴 they’ll never really get it I guess…

Yep. Sometimes I just think they don't understand! It's infuriating the things they DON'T think of doing, when it's just second nature to us to do it.

Anyone got any chickenpox tips? 😬 I've got Poxclin mousse and Eurax cream but she's covered and they are SO blistery. It looks like the plague 😭 She had her first pimply spots Wednesday, and today she's woken up with tons more blisters. How long before they stop coming? ARGH. I've already had a week off with her scarlet fever, now I'm gonna have to take the week off for this and I'm getting so behind. Not to mention, with CP we have to stay in the house, so it's not like we can even go to the park 😔

This is the mental load that women carry and men don’t. Why should you have to tell him what needs to change? He can’t do his own gap analysis whilst you’re changing the 50th nappy of the day and wiping someone’s nose? It’s really frustrating, we shouldn’t be CEO of the household!

I’m worried about this scarlet fever thing because my daughter is allergic to penicillin and seems to immediately vomit up alternatives as well. I kept her home from nursery on Friday but tomorrow it’s their Christmas party. The nursery has had one case of SF.

I don’t know what to do. I mean SF will still be around in January and I can’t just not send her to nursery.

How are you all feeling about nursery etc?

I’m going to be honest - I’m glad mini A only goes 2 days a week! I think if kids have been unwell over the weekend they probably won’t be sent on a Monday and/or Tuesday! I’m not worried about her getting any bugs, strep A etc cos if you spent your life worrying about potentially getting unwell, you’d never go out. She’s got a cold atm and it’s annoying but it’s just winter!

also: re nursery - my daughters nursery is really strict with them being unwell, any sign of being generally unwell over the usual cough/cold and they go home!

Yes I’m nervous too tbh. It’s stressful whenever a contagious illness is doing the rounds - even chickenpox makes you feel a little worried (I know with CP you want them to have it at some point).

I have two worries that fight each other with illnesses- one is I don’t want my daughter to be poorly and the second is I hate how much time I end up needing off work. It all does my nut in.

I’m worried, but I have to work, and can’t keep them off school, because 2 weeks is long enough, and then add another week 😂
I received a newsletter from my 6yo school, and daily, they are still having up to 70(!!!!!) children off. They have 5 NHS confirmed cases of strep a. It’s a worrying time 😔

This has all prompted me to put a reminder in my calender to book the baby for his chickenpox vaccine as soon as I can, just hoping he doesn't get it naturally before he can have the vaccine!

So many poorly littles around at the moment, hope everyone is on the mend soon.

Yeah, you have to pay for it so there's obviously a cost implication but compared to the cost of myself or my husband having to take up to two weeks of unpaid leave to look after sick kids plus saving them the hassle of having to have chickenpox we decided it was worth it.
Loads of people don't know about it though, none of my friends seemed to!

Is it a needle administered vaccine?

oh fair enough.
When mini a got it was literally the week I’d booked annual leave to go to haven - out of school hols. It was a change of scenery and I wasn’t able to get a refund & I would of had to take the week off anyway! But it was awful, she was really off with it but it’s done now..!
