Any ideas for rainy days outside of the house? We’ve done the cinema and planning on bowling but am I missing anything? I’m sick of this miserable weather and I hate staying indoors (but no playgyms!!) 🙏🏼

Ah fab thanks. We don’t have many museums locally but we’ve booked the science museum for the weekend and I totally didn’t even think of trampoline park!

I definitely feeling cooped up and fed up about it. My son isn’t walking yet which limits things a bit, a lot of the usual stuff we do is closed for the holidays or absolutely chocka with bigger kids and not worth bothering.
Tried just going out for walks, but the weather is so bad here. I can generally cope, but I was painfully pelted with hailstones yesterday, the ones that proper sting. No fun at all.

Going to a play cafe tomorrow at least. Had to book it weeks ago which is a bit ridiculous, but I’m grateful of it now.

Anyone have any tips on taking a toddler to the zoo? He has just turned 3 but is more like 2 in his behaviours, temperament and ability to communicate. He loves animals but I’m worried it might be a bit overwhelming for him.

All I would say is don’t underestimate what a long day it will be for the both of you. We have a local zoo to us that has a soft play and tbh that’s all mine is interested in (for some reason she’s not bothered about animals though). Build in little breaks, make the most of the benches etc for pit stops and snack time. Take the buggy as obviously zoos are absolutely massive. Don’t expect to get around the whole thing.

I took mine when he was 2. I just kept him in the pram cos he wouldn’t hold hands then. Let him out a few times. He liked some of the animals. Took him this summer aged 3 and not. Only liked two animals I can recall … he ran round with my fella whilst I looked at everything on my own 😂😂😂

We went to the zoo the other day. It was a smaller zoo but we don’t try go to all the animals and just stay for a few hours rather than a full day. My 2.5 year old didn’t want to stay in the pram too long but definitely good to bring along

It can be a long day, our zoo isn’t huge but still a “quick” trip would be 4hours. Just have no expectations that he will love looking at the animals, pack well (lots of snacks, weather gear for wet/cold, and layer up!) and take it at snails pace. I would let him walk first, and buggy when he is too tired, otherwise I think it’s boring for wee ones just strapped in all the time, and because there are no cars etc it’s a pretty safe walking environment. Let him wander which ever way he wants to go rather than trying to herd him round (although if you’re with other people or older kids that isn’t always possible!)
Mostly at that age I find them pretty underwhelmed by the zoo, but still a nice day out for everyone.

Don't set your expectations too high. At that age, my 4yo wouldnt have had any interest, and if she did, she'd see them and want to move on as soon as she's looked at them for 1 second 😂
It was the same when we went to sea life, we'd get through the whole thing in about 15 minutes 🤣

I think that is a thing with sea life places. We’ve been to two and been in and out in 30 mins. Biggest wastes of money ever! Neither were huge but still

We have done London and one in a known theme park, at least 50 times, which is tiny). We only do it because it is included in our merlin passes, but tbh, I never want to see a fish again

My toddler could have spent about 15 minutes just watching chimpanzees lol. He also saw a sleeping lion and was chatting to him about how we had just seen the chimpanzee but we hadn’t seen the giraffes yet. So damn cute

Thanks so much everyone, good tips! We’re going to go with no expectations and just see what happens! It will be just be me, my husband and the little one so we can let him take the lead and spend as much or as little time at each bit as he likes.
Going to take a whole bag full of snacks and an iPad/headphones for the journey as we’ll be going on the tube into London. As long as we can get through the day without any major meltdowns I’ll consider it a success. 😆

Hey, does anyone have any advice on travelling on a airplane with a toddler? We're going on holiday abroad for the first time to Spain very soon, it's only a 2 hour flight because its his first time on a plane so didn't really want to go on a really long flight. He's 2. He just can't sit still in the house for longer than 20 minutes tops🤣 so I don't know how I'm gonna make him sit still for 2 hours! Does anyone have any advice, like is there anything I should bring with me? I'm bringing snacks, books, toys and a iPad for him. I'm I missing anything:) thanks in advance!

We have flown a fair bit with kids, and never had any issues with boredom etc. they don’t need to sit still (apart from take off and landing) and I spend a lot of flights up and down the aisle. I’d say we’ve flown approx 30 times (so 60 flights) with our kids and only once ever had an air steward be snarky about me being in the aisle.
Top tip is if you have any sort of sippy drink undo it slightly on take off otherwise the pressure difference causes leaks.
Stickers are good, even mini post its, as they are "seat fun", and low mess. Don’t bring anything that rolls or has small parts! I wouldn’t ever do the thing of wrapping up toys as that creates a lot of mess and rubbish to deal with in a small space.
My kids are always so fascinated by the goings on in an airport and on a plane that they just do a lot of watching, and will sit for much longer than they would at home. All mine have also weirdly loved the safety card in the seat pocket 😂

So fed up, for the second time in two weeks I’ve had to cancel an outing thanks to a nursery plague, it’s with the same person too and I think they’re mad at me as I’ve been left on read 😢 you’d think other parents would understand what it’s like but maybe they don’t catch every bug like I do? I don’t really know how to handle this kind of stuff, I’d never let people down deliberately but it feels

We did a 4 hour flight to Cyprus in the summer with a 2.5 year old. I was hoping she'd sleep on the plane but we got like 30 mins each way at most. :ROFLMAO:
Her nanny was sat behind us (that's my mum, not hired help ) and she loved just popping her head up over the seat and saying Hi. I think the only thing we really used on the plane to keep her occupied was food and her Amazon tablet! I know some people don't like screens but I really did not want her running up and down the aisle and having to keep my eyes on where she was, so she sat in the middle between me and her dad and just played games/watched a film.
It went miles better than expected (in fact, the whole holiday was a breeze compared to being at home!)
